‘Real News:’ What Ideological Implications Could Tuesday Have for the GOP and Democratic Party?
As we’ve seen as recently as 2008, a presidential election can have major ideological implications for a nation and a political party, as the Democrats today seem coalesced behind the ideology of Barack Obama, leaning further to the left than the Bill Clinton “Third Way” ideology of the party in the 1990s. With just days before the election, commentators are already prognosticating what a Mitt Romney victory or defeat says about the direction of the GOP and ideological leanings of the nation as a whole. David Brooks of the New York Times argued last week that a Romney win would be a victory for moderation, while in turn then a defeat means Romney was dragged too far to the right by radical elements of the party.
But could a Romney win more so mean a rejection of the leftward direction the country has been headed under Barack Obama? That America is truly center right and wants a different course?
Also, is there an objective answer to whether or not Romney ran this race as a moderate or as a conservative? Democrats try to paint him as having extreme views to the right, but it is easy to foresee that if Romney loses, his primary opponents could compare him to another moderate like John McCain. On ‘Real News’ Friday the panel discussed the ideological implications Tuesday’s election could have for the Democratic Party, GOP and Tea Party. Watch a clip below:

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 3:35pmThe right/left wordage is nonsense. Here’s what matters: The Republic. If Romney does not act to reverse gains made by the Marxists and Fascists in the “Democratic Party,” and if he fails to act to restore a Constitutional Republic almost rendered dead by both Democrats and Republicans in the past, it won’t matter who wins elections after 2016. We’ll see states seceding from a corrupt union for the same reasons the thirteen states left in the Nineteenth Century and the Colonies left England in the Eighteentch Century. If the remaining Federal States want a fight, they will get it in spades because genuine Americans won’t put up with much more of statism of any variety.

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 5:45pmHey Tex, I really respect your wisdom expressed in your statement; “The right/left wordage is nonsense. Here’s what matters: The Republic”. Although I’m pretty new to blogging and have never been much of a writer, I’ve done a good bit of studying and research. I love history and have felt for a long time that the modern notion of “right and left” has always been just another twisted early twentieth century progressive con job, also known as a “straw man argument”. To validate the left they need an anti-left to target and demonize. Voilà! The right. You’re absolutely correct. We’ve never been a nation of Republicans or Democrats, or of the right or left. For better or worse we’ve been a nation of Conservative minded and Liberal minded people. Never the seemingly hateful people we’ve become. Even on this site so-called persons of faith or conservatism use language and express viewpoints I can’t agree with. I know a lot of the back and forth here is out of pure pent-up anger and frustration born out of a sense of hurt and/or unfairness. I don’t agree that some states will secede, these days we seem to be too quick to bail on what got us here instead of fixing what’s wrong. Never the less, your notion of the Republic being most important for our survival is the correct one. God Bless!

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 2:02pmRomney is far from a right wing extremist. If anything he represents more of a semi-large government Republican, I’d call him a moderate if anything left of what I’d like to see in a candidate however he could be called a right wing extremist ONLY if you compare him to the left wing extremist liberal, progressive, socialist, communist Obama. Most people will vote on the economy which in my opinion does not really address the real problem and thats an out of control black whole called the Federal Government which not only extorts a huge percentage of the economy but is destroying liberty at every turn. Will we return to our roots? I have to remain pessimistic I dont see a majority of Americans focused on the individual freedom issue which if they did might resolve many of the other issues. IMHO Romney is better than Obama then again pick a name out of the phone book and 99% of those choices would be better in one degree or another. The one differentiation I have observed is Romney seems to be a man of character. Obama? I dont know what or who he is.

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 11:14amThe “lunatics” of the tea party are they only sane element in this election. Both the Republicans and the democrats are Big Government lording over the little people who are to dumb to run their own lives. Time is long over due to put down these garbage parties and make way for third party alternatives and return to the ideals of freedom espoused by the founders.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 10:39pmIf Obama wins and the Dem keep control of the Senate, forget the Republican party. They will be forever a minority party. This country will be run by the progressive. More and more conservatives will drop out of the political arena. The Obamas will do everything in their power to change the rule so that he can be president for life.
by 2014 … $8 – 10 gallon gas, small tin cans as cars for the masses, while the ruling class will have big fancy cars. The UN will guide us through every portion of our lives. They will come after our way of life and turn this country to a country worst than any country in Africa. Hope you like Euros or Yen or Rubles because there will no longer be dollars as a currency.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:36pmThere are those of us who worry that Mitt Romney is not “right” enough. Rather than pandering to the Tea Party wing of the GOP, what he has done is to court the Conservative side of the Republican Party, because if he hadn’t they would have done what they did for John McCain—nothing. They stayed home rather than vote for him. And the Tea Party will not go back to sleep if Romney wins the presidency. He has made promises and GOP Conservatives fully expect him to honor them. If he doesn’t—and many Conservative Republicans, Libertarians and Constitutionalists are concerned that he is a RINO, and he will have to prove to them that he is otherwise—then he may well be a one-term president like Barak Obama.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:22pmThese are the divisions I see happening:
Old guard Republican: Will seek to dominate and control the tea party and conservative new bloods to ensure they have power for the next generation or more over the conservative face to the nation. They will try to cling to their power as drowning men to a lifeboat.
Old guard Democrat: Usual fanaticism, blame Romney from day one and will have the backing of most of the MSM. They will continuously seek to obstruct, demonize and sensationalize everything of Romney into a loss for the nation and their own party.
New conservativism from 2010 on: People and elected members of the nation who will do what is right and needed to save the nation from a century of the progressive agenda. This group will grow as the years pass and once again America relearns who we are meant to be.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:22pmIf Romney wins, it means that the Democrats were unable to steal the election with the under-handed measures that they have been planning since 2008. These guys are long range planners in their goal “FORWARD” to destroy traditional America values and American capitalism. NOBAMA 2012

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:19pmAs I previously mentioned, if the GOP loses, I predict they will encourage more pro choice candidates to run. I believe this shift of the GOP will enable Jon Huntsman to be a rising star in the 2016 presidential elections. Jon Huntsman will very likely be the GOP nominee who faces Hillary Clinton in the general election of 2016. Hillary will most likely win by a slight margin

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:27pmTo answer the other part of the article, if the Democrats lose this election, I predict they will appeal to the Libertarian voters because they have a lot of common ground. Ron Paul and Gary Johnson have been a blessing to the progressive cause because they started the following cycle
Conservatism=>Libertarianism=>Progressivism
In other words, they started the cycle of progressivism by converting conservatives to libertarians. Eventually, those libertarians will very likely become progressives

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:33pmpro choice is a non issue. Romney is not dictating what women choose. He is just saying what the taxpayers want to pay for. Abortion (killing babies – like dems want) will still be legal. The big thing is that those that chose not to will not have to pay for it.
you liars (dems) always bend the truth to make it sound like something else.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:40pmJon Huntsman is a political nonentity and only his Daddy’s billions kept him in the race so long. He is so far left on the GOP political spectrum that one false step would turn him into a liberal Democrat. Absolutely no chance that anyone from mid-to-right-of-center in the GOP would support him for president.

Abortion and the war on women is an issue that female voters care about. The GOP started to gain a negative reputation when it was revealed that Rick Santorum tried to ban contraceptives. Also, Todd Akin and Richard Murdoch have made unpleasant remarks about rape. They are ruining the credibility of the GOP. Also, the GOP refuses to pass the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 8:56pmRomney is not Santorum or Murdoch. The dems are just going after the defenseless women who do not watch the news.
That number is decreasing. Women are a lot smarter than you or the dems give them credit for. A majority have figured out that they are being played, that is why more women are supporting Romney. Women are more concerned about their families and the economy than they are about sex. The dems are really putting women down when they play up this issue.

There’s a problem with your Logic
You Seem to think Progressivism Wins Elections
It DOESN”T
Conservatism WINS every time It’s Tried.
Ronald Reagan Won in a Landslide
Moderates Lose or Squeak by.
John McCain an Bob Dole Come to Mind.
60% of America concider themselves Conservative.
30% an I think that’s Too High consider Themselves
Liberal / Progressive.
10% Sit on the Fence an wait for someone Else
to tell them What to Think.
Think for Yourself Don’t Wait for the Government
to do your Thinking for YOU.

Libertarianism is not progressive. It is what the country was founded on. Maximum freedom, less government. Progressive solution is big government, less freedom. People who are not slaves can and should rule themselves.
