Tea Party News Network Endorses ‘None of the Above’
The editorial board of the Tea Party News Network, a news site which claims to be the Tea Party’s “only trusted news source and the antidote to mainstream media bias,” on Friday announced who they’re endorsing in the 2012 presidential election: No one.
Really.
From the released statement:
“We have watched the candidates closely over the past year and are convinced that four more years of an Obama presidency would be disastrous for this country’s economy and for the cause of small government,” Todd Cefaratti, editor of the Tea Party News Network, said today. “We considered an endorsement of Governor Mitt Romney, but concluded that his record raises too many questions about the level of his commitment to conservative principles and limited government. The Tea Party has been burned too many times by Washington politicians who promise change but don’t deliver once elected. As the voice of Tea Party conservatives across America, we are not comfortable endorsing either major party candidate this year based solely upon hopeful rhetoric. Our approach echoes Ronald Reagan’s advice on the Soviet Union: ‘Trust but Verify.’”
It took them four days until the election to “verify”?
“Unlike other media outlets that purport to defend the cause of the tea party, this organization is not going to fall in line behind any candidate simply because they call themselves a conservative,” added Scottie Nell Hughes, a member of the editorial board and News Director of TPNN. “We have kept track of the promises made by both President Obama and Mitt Romney. Neither has yet convinced us that they truly will bring the kind of revolutionary changes to Washington that the Tea Party has demanded.” Hughes took issue with the return of so-called ‘Moderate Mitt’ in the campaign’s final weeks, a reversal of his stance during the primaries. “We saw what happened during the George W. Bush administration when Constitutional conservatism was confused with the interest of the Republican Party. They are not one and the same.”
While praising Romney for articulating the case for smaller government, the Tea Party News Network also pointed to a number of issues that have raised ‘concern’ about Romney’s commitment to the Tea Party agenda. They include his movement away from across the board tax relief, his recent refusal to stand behind comments to reform FEMA and return more control to local governments, and a top aide’s notorious ‘etch-a-sketch’ comment in regard to Romney campaign promises. Romney’s record as governor and as a political candidate also provided cause for viewing him with “ambivalence.”
Todd Cefaratti today said he understood that a vast majority of tea party members will vote for Romney as the best choice among the available alternatives. And he held out hope that the organization might endorse Romney in 2016. But he also vowed to release a list of Romney’s campaign promises and to serve as “vigilant watchdog” of the Romney administration should it come into power. “Starting on day one of a Romney administration, as with the Obama administration, we’ll be vigilant watchdogs for the Tea Party and for the conservatives across the country,” he said.

I dont have the first clue what Beck thinks about this group. I dont take his every word as gospel
either. Fact is he’s right more times than not.
I am a proponent of people thinking for themselves rather than blindly following some group

“The editorial board of the Tea Party News Network, a news site which claims to be the Tea Party’s “only trusted news source and the antidote to mainstream media bias”
I think whether or not these folks are “the ONLY trusted news source” is something the people
should decide for themselves —— just because you say it doesnt make it so.
We already have someone like that in the White House right now.

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 3:40amIm with you. I went to first TEA PARTY rally on APRIL 15, 2009 I don’t know why. I just went out and got some poster board, made a double sided sign and one day I’m going to preserve it under glass! I went and was AMAZED to see 100′s and I do mean HUNDREDS of other people there, and then I went to a couple of TEA PARTY MEETINGS but one woman seemed to be hell-bent to be the “BOSS”…she didn’t get it… we are TEA PARTY people because the ONLY BOSS WE’LL HAVE IS GOD. So I did things with them but I didn’t want to hear about silly things this was not another club, this was about our COUNTRY… not just another “organization” and until I became a BECK fan and it was a daily input of knowledge and sharing. THE GOOD NEWS was that GLENN saw a BIG PICTURE…not just “go out and form little clubs and human nature being what it is – fight amongst yourselves . NO! THE job we have is to EDUCATE as many people as we can about our FOUNDING FATHERS (beginning with ourselves). It is not as small as having a (D) or an (R) after your name..it’s about BEING A PATRIOT!! That’s why the LIBERAL DEMS can’t get who we are, we TEA PARTY people… WE are NOT a PARTY per se…we are PATRIOTS – we don’t need to be LED. AMEN!

Posted on November 3, 2012 at 9:35amAttention alleged Libertarians !! Gary Johnson expanded New Mexico’s public debt just as quickly during his adminsitration as Obama has during his and he did so during a monstrous economic boom rather than a time of recession. He has no record to run on when it comes to fiscal restraint; Johnson did just as much damage to New Mexico’s debt profile on a percentage basis as President Obama has nationally!
Gary Johnson is a liar on all counts. He never reduced spending, he never got the government out of your life, he in fact presided over a 75% expansion in the size of state government in New Mexico which grossly exceeded both GDP and population growth.
Like Ron Paul, Johnson’s goal is singular… to destroy the Republican Party in this election and avenge being told to hit the road.

But, in the overall, I’d have to say that he was the greatest president of my generation. If we were to compare Reagan to the Founders, I’d have to say that he really doesn’t rank, when compared to them. People identify with those that they have known, if only by deed and word. He did a lot of truly great things.
I really wish that we could just have one president that would start the ball rolling, by doing away with just one department of the federal government. My nominees are the same as others… EPA, Dept of Education, DHS, etc. Until one of those departments disappear, we won’t be on the road to real recovery. When people realize that their lives become better as these departments disappear, they will lose their fear of losing big government. If they won’t dismantle the unneeded and truly unconstitutional parts of the government, we will only travel the road to ruin, at a slower speed. If Barack Obama stays on as president, we will be on the highway to hell, at supersonic velocity.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 10:59pmThe Tea Party should be a Verb not a Noun! Nouns can be owned, sold and traded… we have seen a whole bunch of that already. That is why we dropped the Tea Party name from our group. As long as there are free liberty loving Americans there will be a Tea Party. The Tea Party in not a “Party” it is a code, a state of mind. Keep speaking for folks and run its reputation down further. Stick to championing issues and stay away from Politicians. Just my opinion.. worth what it cost!

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 10:49pmTea Party, I can understand why would not endorse Romney or Obama being that they are on different sides of the same Totem Pole but you could of endorsed Gary Johnson who is dead center on the same objectives of the Tea Party.

Endorsing someone in favor of indefinite detention isn’t a trademark of the Tea Party.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 11:05pmDidn’t a court overturn the “indefinite detention” part?
No matter. I don’t approve of the NDAA or the Patriot Act anyways.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 11:09pmGary Johnson is against NDAA and the war on drugs and the war in Afghanistan.
If you have not seen what Gary Johnson stands for you should check out his website or watch the next third party presidential debate Monday night on RT.
Gary Johnson would also end the fed and end the IRS.

Posted on November 2, 2012 at 11:48pm@just, Ya but a little different, I’ve heard Mitt Romney is going to save medicare, lmao. Mainly they keep the talking about Obama, Obama is a communist, etc. Never any substance, It’s best not to argue to much with them, Short tempers. ( Quickly turns into Shouting ) I asked someone how is Obama different from bush? The reply; Bush cut spending and lowered taxes, and hes American, hahahah.
