‘Complete Incompetence’: Security Officials in Libya Challenge CIA Timeline of Benghazi Attack

Fox News is reporting that security officials who witnessed the September 11 attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi are challenging the official timeline as explained by the Central Intelligence Agency earlier this week, mainly saying calls for help went out much earlier than previously reported.

The Fox News article explains:

According to the CIA, the first calls for assistance came at 9:40 p.m. local time from a senior State Department official at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, to the CIA annex about a mile away.

But according to multiple people on the ground that night [both American and foreign], the Blue Mountain Security manager, who was in charge of the local force hired to guard the consulate perimeter, made calls on both two-way radios and cell phones to colleagues in Benghazi warning of problems at least an hour earlier. Those calls allegedly went to local security contractors who say that the CIA annex was also notified much earlier than 9:40 p.m. U.S. military intelligence also told Fox News that armed militia was gathering up to three hours before the attack began.

One source said the Blue Mountain Security chief seemed “distraught” and said “the situation here is very serious, we have a problem.” He also said that even without these phone and radio calls, it was clear to everyone in the security community on the ground in Benghazi much earlier than 9:40 p.m. that fighters were gathering in preparation for an attack. [Emphasis added]

The attack lasted roughly seven hours, but the CIA maintains that its security operators left their annex and headed to the consulate to help less than 25 minutes after receiving the first call.

If the call came earlier than previously reported, though, it could mean that help was not dispatched within half an hour. On October 26, an explosive report alleged the CIA operators– including former Navy SEALS Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods– were actually told to “stand down,” but went to the consulate in defiance of their orders.

The security officials continued to criticize both the government’s response to the attack, and how they are relating the information in its aftermath, according to Fox News:

Fox News was told by both American and British contacts who were in Benghazi that night that the CIA timeline rolled out this past week is only “loosely based on the truth” and “doesn’t quite add up.”

Fox News was also told that the local guard force meant to protect the consulate perimeter “panicked” and didn’t know what to do as the attackers took up positions. Sources say other guards simply “walked away”.

Another source added, “Why would they put a ragtag team together in Tripoli as first responders? This is not even what they do for a living. We had a first responder air base in Italy almost the same distance away.” Despite the team arriving from Tripoli that night, sources said sufficient American back-up never came.

British sources on the ground in Benghazi said they are extremely frustrated by the attack and are still wondering why they weren’t called for help.“We have more people on the ground here than the Americans and I just don’t know why we didn’t get the call?” one said.

Both American and British sources said, at the very least, the security situation on the ground and the lack of proper response were the result of “complete incompetence.” [Emphasis added]

OK, so the CIA is basically an organization built around deception…. I mean that’s what they do. Not that their not patriots but it doesn’t surprise me that their account of events doesn’t match up. They are hoping this takes the heat off of what they were doing in benghazi…. I.e supplying arms to known enemies. This thing stinks to high heaven!

  One of the most telling points to me, amongst a large number of telling points, is the call by the CIA guy who was lasing the mortar.
  
  He is quoted as yelling “Where the [blank] is the Spectre?”. The “blank” is an obvious expletive used in frustration and alarm, and he says “THE” Spectre. To my mind, this clearly indicates that he knew, or more likely had been told, that it was on station and he couldn’t understand why it was not attacking the mortar that he was lasing.
  
  There is no other reason that he would make such a statement. He believed it was there and in a position to attack. He knew, or was told, that it was armed and available for support.
  
  “THE” Spectre.
  
  Who told the Spectre not to attack? The only risk was to the mortar crew, which negates Mr Panetta’s assertions. Mt Rivera’s staunch and vehement defence of the administration is also knocked into a cocked hat.
  
  At first glance, it seems like a small point, but to my mind, it is a smoking gun.

  My question is: We know that we have drones stationed at the Benghazi airport after 9/11. The AP reported that the Benghazi airport was temporary shut down due to militia men firing on drones taking off and landing at the airport. The authorities were afraid a passenger plane might be hit. The story talked like these drones had been flying out of the airport for a long period of time, and we know that we were using drones to spy on militant groups training camps near Benghazi. Now the British have acknowledged having more people in the area. We have not heard that any Americans were at the airport. Sooooo. Were the British the ones at the airport with the drones?
  
  The liberals are accusing people of calling Obama a murdered. Duh, he has a “kill list” and brags about killing people of his choosing, outside the law of the US of A. Now, some of these people I might also kill, but under our law this could be called murder.

Have you ever noticed that the entire media complex (FOX News included) puts news exactly where it is needed, or not needed? Case in point if the stories about Benghazi and Fast and Furious were actually ran a lot on NBC, MSNBC do you think it would literally really register on the people who are so dumbed-down that they still watch those Networks? It would be a waste of time to run those stories on those programs. Instead the people who are looking for information go over to FOX News. But what do they do at FOX? They put hot babes on there to distract, and FOX covers all the stories other Networks do not. Of course right before the election FOX is mostly covering Hurricane Sandy, and Benghazi and Fast and Furious is taking a lower tone. Then probably Benghazi, and Fast and Furious will continue to fade away getting mostly replaced by Sandy, and some other big issue they will go fishing for.

  And then after the election FOX will be preoccupied running the stories about who is suing whom over the election, and then you all will eat up those details, and even Hurricane Sandy will start fading away, especially if Romney wins so people don’t attribute any Sandy failures to Romney. I already voted for Mitt Romney. I don’t know if he will win given SPIGOT voters, which is orchestrated by the Democrat party, a criminal enterprise. I do know that Benghazi will be around for the next several months to 2 years & the main stream media will lose readership & Obama will be the lamest ducks if not actually impeached.

Like his namesake, once a loss becomes inevitable, Obama will do the equivalent of lighting the oil wells on fire. Economic damage, War, or Social strife or all of the above will be the (oil wells) for obamas end game. Impeach Obama as an enemy of the constitution now, before it is too late.

  My guess is that once the election is over Sandygate will vie with Benghazigate as the biggest scandal of the century. There is absolutely no excuse for FEMA resources to have been unavailable to NYC. It’s not like they couldn’t predict the need. They had plenty of warning and weren’t trying to stock remote areas without adequate storage facilities. So, BO goes on TV one day and out on the campaign trail the next. Problem solved. Unfortunate truth, though, this thing ended up being like New Orleans. Storm is over and the real problem manifests days later. Incompetent people in all levels of government make stupid choices and compound the problems with inept responses. SSDD. But there are news cameras and a few competent reporters. People still have voices and the truth comes out. We all go “oh my” and “oh why?”. A few months or years later the same thing happens again and we go through the same routine. Or so we’d like to think. Rah, rah, America, the goodness of its people shines through and corruption and incompetence are ok after all. The truth is that there is a limit and the breaking point is near. My advice? Stand for truth now and be standing on the right side of history when the standing is done.

It has never really been “the economy stupid”. It is always “Morality my friends”, for without a deep and abiding concern for virtue there is no basis upon which to have a firm reliance on Divine Providence, but a fearful expectation of just desserts. Some of those desserts seem to be having “leaders” without honor, courage or good sense.

I pray that election of Romney will atleast give the country a chance to turn this juggernaut to hell that has become the norm back to a country of morality decency based on Judeo/Christian principles and America will be truly great because America as One Nation Under God will be good. I pray that this reprieve of the Almighty on behalf of those who have not bent their knee to Bahl or kissed his lips we have revival and restoration and we once again become the shinning city of the hill.
