Arizona’s Earliest-in the-Nation, 20-Week Abortion Ban to Face Court Scrutiny
PHOENIX (TheBlaze/AP) — A federal judge has upheld Arizona’s earliest-in the-nation ban of most abortions at 20 weeks of pregnancy, but it now faces appellate court scrutiny. Today, a panel of 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judges in San Francisco will hear arguments on the ban, which the court previously put on hold pending a future ruling.
On July 30, U.S. District Judge James Teilborg refused to block the ban, ruling that it doesn’t impose a substantial obstacle to being able to have abortions because women still have time to make decisions.
A news report from July further explains the debate:
Teilborg said the ban is only a regulation, not a flat prohibition, but opponents contend it’s unconstitutional because some women couldn’t have abortions before viability. That’s when a fetus can survive outside the womb, generally at about 23-24 weeks of pregnancy.
Supporters justify the ban by arguing that fetuses can feel pain as early as 20 weeks of pregnancy and that women face more health risks from later abortions. Critics dispute both contentions.

Other points of contention about the ban include whether it’d impose hardships on women with non-emergency health problems and fetal abnormalities that aren’t discovered until after the ban takes hold.
The lawsuit challenging the ban was filed by supporters of legal abortion. The ban was part of a broader package of abortion legislation enacted last spring by Arizona’s Republican-led Legislature.
Nine other states also have 20-week bans, but the Arizona ban is earliest because it uses a different starting point to calculate a fetus’ age.
Besides Arizona, other states with versions of 20-week bans are Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Carolina and Oklahoma. Most were enacted in the past several years.
Arizona’s is the first to face a court test.

Doctor Gloria Polo was an orthodontist living in Columbia when she was struck by lightning and had a near death experience in which she was judged by Jesus and condemned for mortal sin.
“The Lord showed me, how a community can be capable of killing its own children by sacrificing them to the devil through abortion. That’s the worst of all sins, to kill your own children, to kill a baby. But each time that there is an abortion, Satan releases from the pit of hell — what is an abortion? Abortion is the same as killing an innocent baby, precious innocent blood is shed because that baby is sinless. That baby is like a lamb without blemish. Who is the only lamb without blemish? Jesus is. At that moment, the baby is an image of Jesus Christ. The act of aborting a baby brings such power to darkness, the fact that the mother herself kills her child. I am only talking about provoked abortions, not spontaneous abortions. “

Posted on November 5, 2012 at 8:50amWhat does our Creator say about the unborn in the womb?
Psalm 51:6
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
Psalm 139:13
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Isaiah 44:24
This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself
Isaiah 49:1
Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the LORD called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 20:17
For he did not kill me in the womb, with my mother as my grave, her womb enlarged forever.
Galatians 1:15
But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased

Posted on November 5, 2012 at 2:54pmGod is quite conflicted on abortion and the lives of children in general according to these verses:
1 Samuel 15:3: Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
Psalms 137:9: Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
Isaiah 13:15-18:
15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it
18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.
This is only a small taste of god ordering children to be killed, for women to be the spoils of war and for commanding parents to eat the flesh of their children. Sounds pro-life to me….

Context is everything. You cannot understand the bible without context. The example you cite from 1Samuel is the ONLY one of your examples that involves God ordering His people to slay others. The second is a song being sung by Jewish slaves who have been taken into captivity after watching their families slaughtered by Babylonian hoards. The third example is a prophecy foretelling the future about the Medes (Iranians) slaughtering Babylonians (Iraqis).
None of the scriptures you cited are justification for a mass slaughter of innocent Americans. You and I are NOT God, and have not been instructed by God to murder anyone. Your argument based on these scriptures has fallen apart. Your attempt to discredit the source I cited has failed. You mock God when you call Him a hypocrite. The fact remains that infants and fetuses are indeed people in God’s sight. Not because I said so, but because He said so. If you have a problem with it, take it up with Him.

Christianity does teach that every human being is born worthy of an eternal torture and that by only accepting a human sacrifice can we avoid such torture.
You people can’t have it both ways.
I constantly hear people say that “God knew my child before me, he counted every ****, blah blah blah.”
If God is so against abortion, why doesn’t he just stop giving babies to women who he knows will get an abortion?
It’s NONSENSE.

Not true. The Bible condemns human sacrifices. Jesus was not a man like you and me, but the only begotten Son of God. Yet, he emptied himself of the glory he had with his father and dwelt among us.
“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… Jesus said unto them… I proceeded forth and came from God… I and my Father are one.”
“Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: BUT made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, HE HUMNLED HIMSELF, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
“God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them.”
“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people.”
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity.”

That which you proposed would be nonsense. God could create robots to do His will, but chose to create us with a FREE WILL of our own. We do as we please on the Earth. He intervenes when He chooses to intervene. He is God, we are not. You have the free will to reject your Maker if you wish, but you also exercise your free will in preventing others from exercising their free will to accept or reject Him when you support murder in the womb.
Search your heart, for the truth is written on it. Go look at photos of aborted fetuses. Then, please post them here so we can have an honest discussion about why you support this horrific practice.

Posted on November 5, 2012 at 7:27amI am a right winger but when it comes to abortion I a take a little bit from both sides. Pregnancy from RAPE, or with genetic deformities I think should be able to be aborted without question up to a certain point in the development of the fetus. After 10 weeks I would say I have some concerns with the abortion. After that point no one would think ill of you for putting a child up for adoption. THere are thousands of couple who cant have children that would love a healthy baby. You should know full well by that point if 1. You’re pregnant, 2. How it got there 3. If it is healthy or not. Don’t cry to me about you didn’t have money to go to the doctor to see if you had a healthy living baby inside of you! If you can pay for an abortion than you can pay for the non abortion alternatives. Even if you cant pay most hospitals will work with you to work out a payment plan. I know I’ve worked with a hospital to pay of an ER visit I thought would be ‘CHEAP” before I knew how much an ER visit costs…Needless to say it was my first ER visit and so far my last ER visit. Private practice might not be so helpful. BUT EVEN BETTER STILL….KEEP YOUR DAMN LEGS CLOSED AND HAVE SOME RESPECT AND ACCOUNTABILITY! People cant afford things financially or spare the time to right their ships but they can go and spend pleanty of time gettin knocked up and taking part in the activities leading up to it!? NO EXCUSES

Posted on November 5, 2012 at 9:16amWhy should abortion be ok in the case of rape/incest? Did the child commit the crime? Why should the child be murdered for something that isnt its fault? Put the baby up for adoption. Punish the rapist, not the child. And as to deformities, I know people who have children that have deformities or special needs that would highly disagree with you. Again, it is not the childs fault so why murder it? Put it up for adoption–many people make it their life’s mission to adopt and care for children that no one else wanted.

Posted on November 6, 2012 at 9:35amAbsolutely right Colt. All signs point to LIfe. Most reasonable people agree that there is no difference between a fetus 1 minute before birth and an infant 1 minute after birth. The truth is that they are the same person, regardless of their environment. If we agree on that, that life begins at some point in the womb, then the question becomes: at which point? Some say the third trimester, others the second, and some at conception. Isn’t it better to err on the side of caution in this instance?
Our government is charged with protecting our ‘RIGHT TO LIFE’, making abortion UNCONSTITUTIONAL. The practice of abortion is both legally wrong and morally wrong and should be abolished immediately. It’s not about a “woman’s right to choose”, it’s about a human right to live.
