CBS Releases Previously Withheld Portion of ’60 Minutes’ Interview in Which Obama Refuses to Call Benghazi a Terrorist Attack

Do you recall when, during the second presidential debate, Mitt Romney called President Obama out on the fact that he did not refer to the deadly attack on our U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi that claimed four American lives an “act of terror” in a speech given from the White House Rose Garden the day following the attack? Moderator Candy Crowley quickly swooped in to aid Obama and “fact-check” Romney, declaring that the president did indeed use the term “act of terror” in the Rose Garden that fateful day as he referred to Benghazi, only to later backpedal and cede that the GOP contender was actually “right in the main.” Now, the full length portion of a “60 Minutes” interview conducted September 12, the day following the siege, has been released, revealing that the president refused to call Benghazi a terrorist attack.

TheBlaze previously posted the originally released 60 Minutes segment in which Obama appears to contradict himself when he suggests that the Benghazi attack could have been organized. However, that clip omitted the opening question by host Steve Croft, in which the CBS veteran asked Obama directly why he had, to then, refused to call the attack a terrorist attack.

For reference, during his September 12 speech at the White House Rose Garden, Obama did not call the attack in Benghazi an “act of terror” or a “terrorist attack” at all. He used the phrase “acts of terror” directly following remarks about the original September 11 attack on the World Trade Center in which he said that no “acts of terror” (in general) would be tolerated by America.

Many of the president’s inconsistencies and contradictory remarks regarding the carnage in Benghazi that claimed Ambassador Christopher Stevens, his aid Sean Smith and Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Dohery has since been buried by presidential politics and a mainstream media that appears eager to give the president what essentially amounts to a free pass. That may have changed, however, at least in some small way after this latest inconvenient truth has surfaced — and it’s one the president will likely wish had been relegated to CBS News’ cutting room floor.

The previously withheld segment of a September 12 “60 Minutes” interview with Obama conducted by Croft reveals that the president refused to call the deadly siege in Benghazi, which reports now indicate was carried out by al Qaeda and pro al Qaeda militants, an act of terrorism.

The video clip of the previously unaired interview portion is featured below. It was posted by CBS rather inconspicuously on November 4 and clearly it was not given any prominence on the CBS site as it has only garnred 12 comments. Thus far, the only other mainstream news outlet to pick up on the phantom interview segment was Fox News in a report by anchor Bret Baier. Watch this telling, and perhaps damning clip of the president as he skirts the issue and verbiage of terrorism all together.

Perhaps the next logical question would be, why did CBS release this new footage at all?

obama wanted the terrorists to finish the job.

Sending help to rescue or recover a kidnapped/killed Ambassador as well as American Forces engaged in a protracted battle at a remote location IS at the top of the list of things to do, especially on 9/11.

Lying to the families and the American Public is treasonous – an absolute betrayal…

  And for Tiff or anyone else here who doesn’t want to admit it is a lie here is the portion of the Rose Garden statement the PRESIDENT made. His context is clear and includes prior acts and the bengazi attack. “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.” Selective reading is one thing…. lying is another.

  Watch this CBS video and listen VERY carefully ,you need only watch the first :15 seconds to hear the most important part of the entire video!   If and when the full truth is disclosed, we will likely find that Obama was providing advanced weaponary to arm the Al Qaeda insurgents in both Libya and Syria. This is Fast and Furious with the added element of Treason for arming an avowed enemy of the United States. They are desperate to hide the fact that the very extremists that they used to undermine Syria and Libya despots are the one who turned and killed our Ambassador. Why would they turn on us? Look up the story about the rattlesnake that talks a man into picking it up and carrying it through a cold and barren landscape – promising not to bite the man if he helps. In the end, the snake bite the man and as tells him, “what did you expect, it’s in my nature.” Every administrative official involved in the decision chain to provide arms to Islamic extremists like the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda operatives via our operations in Libya should be routed out and prosecuted for High Treason against the people of the United States. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the attack of a standing military force of a sovereign nation striking a base of the standing military force of another sovereign nation, a perfectly legitimate strike and yet Americans, even today, still whine about it calling it a day that lives forever in infamy. Utterly laughable.

This, however, this Benghazi attack and subsequent lying by the President of the United States, this is the day that should live forever in infamy. Your own president went out in public and lied. He went to the UN and demanded the death of free speech. He turned on everything the US stands for. And if he gets re-elected, the US deserves what’s coming. Simple as that.

  Your’e a moron. Pearl harbor was a military target sure, but it wasn’t a legitimate strike. We weren’t involved in the war at that point whatsoever. If it had happened within the context of war then you’d be right, but it didn’t. It was an unprovoked attack on a country that had shown no hostility whatsoever towards japan.
  
  I don’t like what happened in Libya too much either, but honestly I don’t really understand why we place diplomats in countries where we know the people want to kill us anyway. I can’t really honestly put people attacking a bulding we’ve erected in their country on the same level as pearl harbor or the original 9/11 attack.

  Actually the declaration of war was sent to the Japanese embassy in Honolulu the day before. The only reason it was a surprise attack was that the message had gotten delayed. To the Japanese it was a rightful act of war.

These Americans were knowingly handed over and sacrificed to the muslims by this administration. They were watching it unfold in real time, yet they ordered any support to stand down. They knew full well what was happening and let it happen.

  I agree. Should Benghazi Barak lose it would leave a lot of MSM with egg on their face. It seems I know more than the MSM does. Even the CIA report has been shown to be a fabrication at best. It was easy enough to spot the day it came out. It is too bad that o’s phone is smarter than he is.

They know Obummer is going to lose and they are trying to save their butts now so they can say they did relay what the Prez said. They are just as guilty as him and his administration; and you can bet if they thought he was winning, this wouldn’t have been released. The only, and I mean ONLY, reason the election tomorrow is going to be even remotely close is precisely because of this sort of serial malpractice, Obama-butt covering by our allegedly “impartial” media deciders.

These criminals spent 2-years building a religion around a then obscure 1-term Illinois senator and then have spent the last 4-years spinning every modest success into “a world changing event” and every failure into “Bush’s/Congress’/Republicans’/Anyone-else’ fault”.
