Evangelist Claims 1.6 Million Christians Will Write in ‘Jesus Christ’ for President on Tuesday

Internet evangelist Bill Keller is on a mission to convince Christians to reject both Democratic President Barack Obama and Republican contender Mitt Romney. Rather than selecting either of the main candidates, Keller is challenging believers to choose Jesus Christ for president — literally.

As of July 2012, he claimed to have already convinced nearly 200,000 Christians to write in the savior’s name, rather than select any of the men officially running for the presidency. Now, just four months later, Keller’s pool of supporters has increased monumentally to more than 1.6 million. While this may seem like a number that is too-good-to-be-true, the evangelist’s web site, LivePrayer.com, has wide reach with 2.4 million subscribers.

“It is time for Christians, true followers of Jesus Christ, to rise up and say NO to satan this November!,” reads Keller’s web site, which is setup to advertise the initiative. “If God allowed the upcoming election for president to be between President Obama and Mitt Romney, it would truly be satan flipping a two-headed coin with his head on both sides!”

Keller dislikes Obama, because he believes that the president is “a true enemy of God.” He claims that he has been “the most pro-death president in history” due to his abortion support and that he is “a staunch advocate of the radical homosexual agenda.” Additionally, he believes Obama has been “a great friend to the enemies of Israel.”

As for Romney, Keller’s words aren’t much kinder; the faith leader dismisses the Republican’s Mormon faith as a “cult” and believes that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ “doctrine is 100% inconsistent with Biblical Christianity.”

Neither candidate, in Keller’s view, is worth electing, thus he has launched VotingForJesus.com, imploring his followers to choose the Christian savior instead. Aside from signing an online pledge, he is asking that those who commit write “in the name of Jesus for president this November.” He setup a form that those interested can fill out to receive further information.

Naturally, Keller’s views will be offensive to some. Regardless, his ability to convince more than 1.6 million people to sign his pledge is noteworthy. Whether they actually make good on their pledge and vote “Jesus” on Tuesday — well, that’s another story entirely.

  Evangelist, MY BUTT, this person, because he is surely not a man and truly not a Man Of God as he professes. He appears to be a “Cult Leader”, not a Christian. If there are 1.6 million people who are going to write in the name Jesus Christ, then this country has fallen so far into the ditch, we will never recover.
  I am a Christian, but to write in the name of “Jesus Christ” for President, how stupid would I be. Jesus Christ did not create this mess we are in, so to try and pull him in as a partner on the crime, is insanity. It’s time for Christians to “man-up” and stop sticking their heads in the sand, like they have been doing for the last 50+ years, sitting by and watching God be removed from every aspect of our society and refusing to do anything about it except whining and praying. Speak up for God’s sake, don’t throw him into the lion’s den by forcing him to do everything, because you are too unChristian to do anything to help yourself.

  If you live in a solid blue state, any vote you cast will be a vote for Obama, so you might as well vote third party. The Republican and the Democrats are equal villains in the mess that has become our country and both have stolen your rights and freedoms. Pull your heads out of the nether and start voting for the “right” candidates instead of voting by party.   Writing in “Jesus” is really misguided. We’re not voting for Savior and we’re not voting for a national pastor, we are voting for the man who is most likely to protect the rights that have made America the freest nation in history. If Barack Obama wins a second term, you can kiss your freedom of speech goodbye and with it, the ability to freely spread the Gospel.

  Put 1.6 million votes in a toilet and flush. This makes me think of joke about the guy on his roof after a big flood. A boat comes by and he says the Lord will save me. The water rises some more and the guy moves to the ridge of his house and the boat comes by and he tells them the Lord will save him. The water rises some more and the guy is on the Chiminey and a helicoptor coms to save him and he says the Lord will save me. The guy drowns and he is at the gate to heaven & ask’s the lord why he didn’t save and the Lord said, “I sent 2 boats and a helicoptor and you refused all my help.”

  It’s easy to see which man lives by the scripture: Gal 5:22-23 says: the Fruit of the Spirit is: LOVE, Joy, Peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

  The bible teaches that Jesus Christ is ‘THE’ God come in flesh as in the EVERLASTING Father and creator of everything and is not spirit brother to Lucifer

  Excuse me @THERAPTURECOMES… Isn’t God’s love and grace great? He’s so loving, I can’t help but worship Him. I used to be a real gunslinger like you when it came to doctrine, but realized God just wants me to Love him and love others. You might be correct that Romney is the “servant of satan” as you claim… but if that’s the case, then electing him will just hasten the Lord’s return, and that’s cool with me!

  ONE of these two men will be in the White House after tomorrow. Ask yourself this, Who will be a friend to Christianity, or who will attack it? Who lives closer to biblical values, and who don’t? Who will be a friend to Israel, and who won’t? These questions are not hard to answer and the choice is clear. As far as Mormonism is concerned, I haven’t heard Romney declare that he was going to proselytize this nation to his religion. The bible tells us we can tell a tree by its fruit. The fruit of the Spirit has been displayed in Romney. Get your foot off of this man’s neck and pray for him! God can surely give him the understanding that he needs. At least he is trying to acknowledge God and serve him. Obama is not! There are a lot of people that don’t have the right understanding of God’s word, but they are at least trying to do all that they do know. Let God deal with the matter.

  Hey, TheRapt – what did Christ mean when he commanded “Judge not, for with the same judgment with which ye judge, ye shall be judged”? Do you not realize that the very accusations and judgments that you so spitefully apply to Mormons may be turned around and applied to you personally in the judgment? Probably not – I suspect that you think that your vision is clear and mine is so muddled that you are doing me a favor by condemning me to hell. I fear that too may be one of those judgments that will haunt you if you don’t let go of it. I really do hope that your faith is sufficient to cling to Christ when the truth is manifest with clarity; but I worry for you because of your hateful language and quickness to condemn. According to my reading of the Bible only those filled with the pure love of Christ will be able to sustain their faith when the light comes on. Satan is the great accuser, who loves the law and demands justice without mercy. In fact, the term Satan derives from the Hebrew root that means accuser. By their fruits you shall know them. Are you an accuser or a strengthener, are you a critic or an advocate of your fellowman, do you do the works of Satan, or those of Christ? Do you lift others or put them under your feet. Your spiteful mischaracterizations of LDS doctrine are dishonest and untrue, though you remain convinced they are accurate.   That is one of the most misquoted verses in Scriptures. The point being taught is that to judge without have believed upon Christ is hypocritical
  
  By me believing upon Christ, the REAL Christ in Romans 10:9-10 I have removed the wood from my eye and can now point out the wood in others eyes
  
  That is the whole point of the gospel Romans 10:9-10 and the whole point in the spreading of that same gospel.
  
  You have to point out the sin to the sinner in order for them to realize that Christ is the cure/covering for that same sin.
  
  A Christian will mark out and expose the wolf in sheep’s clothing because to remain silent is DISASTROUS.
  
  The fact you would even bring this up is very telling about you and your studies of Scriptures

  @TheRapt–“If thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness: and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9, 10) According to my bible that is all that is required for salvation. Does Romney believe this? Yes. Jesus and the Apostles commanded us to Love one another and actually put our faith into actions by good works. Faith without works is dead. Does Romney do this? Yes. Is Romney running to be my preacher? No. Is Mormonism off track? Yes. But, there are others also. Case in point….the Jesus Only bunch. How will you convince them they are wrong? You can’t. Only God can give the revelation that is needed. Hence, my call for prayer for the man in my earlier post. I wont choose Romney to be my preacher or teacher of the bible, but he can surely be a good President. You still don’t answer the question…..Would you rather that devil Obama remain in that seat attacking the churches, killing babies at will, embracing the homosexual movement……etc? Here’s the deal……I’m not going to beat up Romney no more than the Jesus Only’s. Both are in error, but until another Apostle shows up in the power of God to set the record straight I will just pray for them and keep my foot off their neck.   @TheRapt, I bear solemn witness that I know by revelation from the Holy Ghost that Christ has initiated His latter-day work and that He stands at the head of the LDS church. I know that God speaks, not just ‘Spake’, and that divine revelation is more essential today that it has ever been. You need not rely on the flawed faculties, understanding, exegesis, or hermanutic (sic) interpretations, or traditions of man to model the truth – all you have to do is believe, and ask sincere. I witness that God lives and has power to do all things, including making us joint heirs with Christ to inherit all that the Father has and is; and that through the Atonement, God WILL grant all that any individual chooses to believe and desire. Because of the Atonement, our individual destiny is only limited by what we choose. So, believe all things, hope all things. Accept all that God offers, none of it, or just the leftover morsels that fell from the table of prior dispensations. Your choice of what you believe will define your destiny, but all of your ranting, railing and gnashing of teeth has no power to stop the power of God, through the atonement from granting to others that which you adamantly refuse to consider, let alone desire or accept. We are children of God, with divine potential, here to choose our own (not others’) individual eternal reality by what we will to believe & desire. Foolish it is to declare, “All that there is, I see.” Be wise. Be Believing. Be Christlike.

  (2) Does mormonism contradict the Bible? The same bible that I can trace by the writings of the Prophets, Apostles, Apostolic Fathers, Early Church Fathers?
  (3) Do you deny the Trinity and teach Polytheism?
  
  If you answer YES to any of these questions then you are not Christian and are already condemned by Gal 1:8-9
  
  You teach a false Christ and contradict the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. All cults have extra biblical writings that they consider equal to or greater than Holy Scriptures (Bible). In your cult is is a whole long line of false prophets and their writings aka BOM (book of mormon) Pearl of great price, D&C

  “The bible teaches Monotheism”, it is emphatic that we are only to worship God our Eternal Father. Yet it also teaches that the object of our worship is come to a full comprehension of God, which can only be done as we become like Him. Christ clearly taught the Eternal Life is only to be had by really comprehending God and Jesus Christ. Christ’s injunction to follow Him was an invitation to become perfected and one with God just as he is. Have you really studied the Bible?

And they can’t get past their fear of the unknown. He is running for a JOB, which happens to be the Oval Office.The last time I checked, the Oval Office is not a church, but it is a very hectic and stressful JOB. I repeat…..he’s running for a JOB!!! He is NOT running to be my spiritual leader in no way, shape, or form. He’s not running to be your’s either. It is a job, not a spiritual position in any church.   You refer to the Bema seat judgment the is for BELIEVERS alone in 1 Cor 3:12-15 & 2 Cor 5:10. This judgement is for rewards for our works and has nothing to do with salvation. It is after the resurrection/rapture.

100% inconsistent? The Mormon’s teach charity and morality – that kills that claim immediately. This evangelist, if he really believes in his faith, should know that we have been given a choice, we are at this point for a reason, it is up to us to decide what to do. God always is with us, and he will always give us our chance. Voting for neither is not going to help. There is no middle ground, there is no neutrality. We have a man who will destroy the country, and one who won’t. Voting for neither candidate will not solve anything. Evil doesn’t require you to do anything, God does. By doing no good by voting for neither, you surely aren’t on the side of good. It would be a statement for sure; but it will not help. A personal favorite statement on the matter of neutrality of mine is “apathy is death”. I know that by writing in Jesus they wish to be on his side, but I call it neutrality because God gave us “dominion over the earth”, and it is up to us to do the best we can. We can pray for his guidance and his aid, and we can do the best we can, but ultimately God put our fates in our own hands. I can say most certainly, that Obama is not the best we can do. Right now, Romney is the best we can do. With work, someday we could hopefully have another president as good as George Washington; but for now, I’d be more than happy to settle for Romney.

Bill Keller does have a following and does believe what he says. He is definitely not in the tank for BO. He is, though, very misguided. Can’t separate out MR’s Mormonism from his leadership. His followers won’t be consolidated in any one geographic area so shouldn’t be any kind of problem in diluting the vote. I do love seeing him blasted for being non-Christian and a BO man. Unfortunately, he will probably only see it as persecution for righteousness sake. I feel sorry for anyone who professes Christ but focuses on dogma and judgment. As a man I respect a great deal said “I realized God is love and that changed everything.”

  That depends if he is a blind, deaf and hard-hearted Christian or not. For it is those who say they see that are blind. Those that say they hear that are deaf. Those that say they understand are ignorant to understanding. I find that is is the religious who fit that description the best!

The backlash from other Christians and those worried about our country if BHO is re-elected will be ugly. This is not the time to pull what can only be viewed as a stunt. They may not like Romney, but this election is a clear choice between good and evil, and to throw your vote away is a vote for evil.

  I am no psychologist but i believe seeing people as good versus evil is a coping mechanism to make you feel more confident in your decisions. Basically, it is a projection of how you think things should be onto what they really are.
  
  If you believe in God, and I certainly do, then it is not good versus evil. It is rotten versus bad. Even if Mitt Romney is a good guy, he is surrounded by an evil political machine that seeks to control the world

  SOYBOMB……At the very most we have but a few years to spend with our families on our homesteads, and fewer, way fewer with Obama in office. The nation CANNOT be salvaged….50 million dead babies…..50,000,000 government ‘sanctioned’ abortions performed since 1973…THAT has sealed our national fate. The Key word there that makes it a “nation killer” is ‘sanctioned’.

No Christian, evangelical or otherwise, would be so viciously arrogant as to “vote” our Lord and Savior into any human political position.

Keller – if he indeed is claiming this – is neither a Christian nor saved. Pity for him.
