Sen. McCain Reaches Breaking Point Discussing Benghazi With Media: I Don’t Expect You to ‘Understand Our Veterans’

Sen. John McCain Challenges Ryan Lizza & Roland Martin for Questioning Whether Vets are Concerned BenghaziAP

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) during a Monday broadcast of CNN’s “Starting Point” challenged the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza and CNN’s Roland Martin for questioning whether U.S. military veterans are concerned with how the Obama administration has handled the attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“Incompetence or cover-up, there was no demonstration,” said Sen. McCain, referring to the Obama administration’s original explanation for the attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. “The Libyans called it right away and everyone knows it.”

“Ryan,” host Soledad O’Brien said to Lizza, “do you think what he is describing is going to have an impact as people go to the polls. Or do they focus more on the economy? Or do they focus more on the social issues that matter to them? Or is it all of the above?”

“It’s going to be jobs and the economy,” Lizza responded, “but I always found it curious that Republicans have spent so much time on Benghazi when they must know that every minute spent talking about foreign policy is a minute they’re not talking about what voters say they’re going to be voting on, which is jobs and the economy.”

“I agree with [Sen. McCain],” Lizza continued, “It’s important to get to the bottom of what happened, um, and Congress should investigate it, the administration should appoint some independent expert to get to the bottom of it, but just purely on the politics, I doubt outside of the very conservative, basically the Republican Party, it’s going to do a lot to move the votes in Romney’s direction.”

Everyone’s favorite pundit Roland Martin decided to jump in.

“I’ve heard veterans more outraged when the U.S. Senate didn’t even pass the veterans job bills, and they said, ‘that’s directly impacting us,’” said Martin, “when you look at the veterans unemployment rate, and so I’ve heard that from a number of veterans as well.”

An amused-looking Sen. McCain let Roland finish and then responded.

“Well, I don’t expect Mr. Martin of Mr. Lizza to understand our veterans,” Sen. McCain replied, “I know them. I’ve seen them out there.”

“[V]eterans do care what happens to other veterans. Veterans are upset. Maybe Mr. Lizza doesn’t understand that and I wouldn’t expect him to, to tell you the truth. The fact is, veterans care about this and there has been a cover-up for seven weeks,” the former prudential candidate added.

“Mr. Lizza and Mr. Martin, I respect their views, I don’t think they’re grounded in any experience,” the Arizona senator concluded.

John McCain practically wet his pants wanting us to get involved in Libya. He wanted us there and he had to know what was going on with the arming of Al Qaeda. Heck he even met with them on one of his visits.

McCain is continually pushing for US military intervention in Syria and around the world He is nothing more than a washed up war mongering pimp for the ever increasing US military industrial complex.

John, how about you keep your opinions to your self. You are nothing more than a progressive RINO in sheep’s clothing. Between Bush’s policies on the war on terror and his “compassionate conservatism”, combined with the idiot RNC and republican sheeple choosing you as our nominee in 2008 we have been stuck with the freaking communist in chief.

I still question why the people of Arizona put McCain back in office. We can only hope and pray that he leaves office once his current term is up.

McCain recently penned an editorial in the Washington Post calling for the U.S. to arm the Al-Qaeda rebels in Syria:

      —————–
“It is not too late for the United States to shift course. First, we can and should directly and openly provide robust assistance to the armed opposition, including weapons, intelligence and training. Whatever the risks of our doing so, they are far outweighed by the risks of continuing to sit on our hands, hoping for the best.”
Washington Post (August 5, 2012): “The risks of inaction in Syria”

The Honorable Senator John McCain is a True and Loyal Comrade of the Communist International. When ejection procedure wasn’t followed, he was a guest of the Comrades in Hanoi. The Comrades shined his shoes daily, fed him the best of Hanoi, groomed him, and never once mentioned to him that his injuries were due to his failure to follow ejection protocol….Long Live the Communist International !!!

I don’t know which polls these stupid TV personalities were following nor who it was that polled — but this voter and the ones that I know are concerned about:

    1) Saving the US Constitution and the number of unconstitutional laws passed plus Executive Orders;
    2) Outraged over the events in Libya — the UN blessed invasion, the support of the Muslim Brotherhood, the $$ to Libya and Egypt, the FAILED workings of the US State Department, the death of 4 US citizens in Libya with the lies that continue, the death of the US citizen in Yemen (have they forgotten his death — the security officer there)
    3) Marxist / communists on White House staff
    4) Expensive parties, vacations, and concerts on the taxpayers back while we haven’t had a national budget submitted by the Democrats for some 3 years now
    5) ObamaCare — don’t want it, don’t need it, and it is still unconstitutional (see minority opinions)

Nope! In our book…the vote this time is who embraces the US Constitution more –

The constitution, bill of rights and the federalist papers must be taught starting in gradeschool and throughout high school. Until that is done……things will just keep eroding and in the end the constitution falls. I know adults who know nothing about the constitution at all. How can we protect it if WE THE PEOPLE don’t even know it. Wake up America, we’ve been under attack from the inside for a very long time.

I can’t stand the sight of John McCain or the sound of his voice, ever since he deliberately threw the 2008 election. He threw Sarah Palin under the bus.

He never even tried to win. He was too busy praising Obama. He was on Team Obama. America is in this H*LL because of John McCain. He just handed Obama the Presidency, tied with a pretty bow.

It should be noted that jet fighters were only a couple of hours away and, simply by flying low over the attackers, would probably have dispersed them and interrupted the attack. Since the former Seals were also “painting” the mortar positions with lasers, a couple of well-placed rockets could have knocked them out. It was absolutely disgraceful that no planes were launched and that bureaucrats sat on their butts and let it happen. I could almost guarantee that George Bush wouldn’t have sat there without making any effort to save those folks.

The same mentality is at work in NY and NJ where Hurricane Sandy struck. Even though they had nearly a week of warning, no adequate preparations were made to see after the folks affected. How difficult is it to get generators to service stations without electricity so they can pump gas? How difficult is it to route gasoline tankers from other areas into the stricken parts of those states? How many Army gasoline tankers are there within 500 miles? How much water does Wal-Mart have within 100 miles? How many MRE’s (Meals, Ready to Eat) does the Army have on hand within a reasonable distance?

No, the problem is that government folks want to hold meetings and discuss things, then appoint committees to study the problem. They want to take bids on needed items when people are freezing and dying. FEMA should be reduced by 90% and the functions taken over by the states. You just can’t depend on the federal government.

National Guard yes… Federal Army used in states maybe a slippery slope.

The problem started with depending on Federal government.

Self reliant people take care of themselves and help their neighbors.

Those dependent on the federal government are not self sufficient and can not help their neighbor as a result. Which does you family need more of, dependent or self sufficient?

If your parents did their job you are self sufficient, if your parents failed you they are guilty of misbehavior.

The Veterans jobs bill didn’t pass for two reasons 1. It would have broke a spending cap agreement voted on by both parties. 2. It was noted that there are currently 6 job placement programs currently available to Veterans and no accountability as to whether they actually work or not. Obama watched our folks die! Hillary watched our folks die. Joe Panetta watched our folks die. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff watched our folks die. Joe Biden watched our folks die. Susan Rice was a pawn sent out to divert our attention long enough for the shock to die down and to get Obama cross the election finish line. No one in the White House actually believed Americans would buy their story but they knew that let Washington if you let something stall long enough for tempers and outrage to cool; the story is soon replaced by some other outrage; then it is forgotten altogether.
As a Critical Incident Debriefed I learned that the best way to help folks deal with a abnormal incident is to encourage them to talk about what happened – if they tell the story often enough and they can begin to “normalize” it. It seems to me that, the basic idea applies to guilt: get enough people taking responsibility ( “owning it”) and pretty soon no is really responsible (which is why the driver at a bank robber is considered under most state laws to be equally guilty as the guy with the gun.
Whether out of guilt or threat none in the administration have spoken the truth –they each know the truth – and until the speak it they will never be free. America we deserve better!

      @ Doctor

Here is what I’ve figured out about this whole sordid affair so far.

This is linked to the Syrian “rebellion”. It also involves Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

Qatar has been off the radar, but they appear to have started the whole thing. Qatar is a tiny little emirate that sticks out the side of Saudi Arabia. They are sitting on huge reserves of gas (LNG) and they wanted to build a pipeline through, among other places, Syria. They told al-Assad that if he did not agree they would depose him through rebellion. He did not agree.

Qatar is deeply involved with MB, al-Qaeda, and Hamas. They, together with the Saudis and the USA, shipped arms from Libya to the Syrian rebels through Turkey, another MB sponsor.

Unfortunately, the rebellion stalled and MB called for more arms. I have sources for all of this, but the next bit I have had to piece together. The Turkish diplomat confers with Amb. Stevens. He leaves at the conclusion of the discussion and has to walk through the attacker’s roadblock. He gave no warning to the Americans.

It is clear that they must have been talking about the Syrian situation. It seems to me that the MB got the wrong answer (and were expecting to) and attacked.

The White House said they got the first email at 9:40, an hour after the attack began. Unlikely. Then they issued “stand down” orders to the CIA operatives on site and to all other military assets.

      cont.

I think that the administration got cold feet over a situation that they were up to their eyes in and wanted out. Mrs Clinton, and others, have been bad-mouthing Assad and supporting the “rebels” in a regime-change operation, but something persuaded them to get out of the gun-running business.

Perhaps it is the fact that Turkish leader, who hates Assad’s guts, wants an excuse to send his military (by far the biggest in the region) into Syria. The Turkish government has already authorised war with Syria, pending provocation.

For the administration to be involved in illegal gun running that leads to a regional war is not a good look, after all.

To hide all this, the administration abandoned its ambassador and men, and began one of the clumsiest cover-ups ever.

I only hope that, after the election, these crimes are pursued relentlessly.

I have left out the source links to save space, but if you want the source to a particular bit, I can post it.

If in 2008, John McCain and the Republican party would have run a actual campaign against Barack Obama, McCain would have been making the decisions about Benghazi and Libya. Barack was a sitting duck with lots to hide and the press helped him hide his past. McCain’s campaign would not bring up Frank Marshall Davis, his membership in the new party, his father’s dreams for a socialist society or choice quotes from Barack’s own book. It is probably too late now John we needed courage four years ago.

Sen McCain, I’ve been out of the Navy since 1973 after serving over 10 years (2 1/2) in Vietnam and I am sick about what this so-called President did and continues to do (nothing). 4 Americans were killed by enemies of the United States and a person sitting in the big chair went to bed then on to raise more money for his re-election. That shows No Respect for our Military and for Our Country.
I went in the Military and was in Vietnam fighting the very same type of people that are now in the administration.

Everything about America is worse now than 4 years ago, hell I’ve not seen race relations as bad as they are now since I was a little boy, we’ve gone backward not forward.

Good news is that WHEN he looses our MILITARY will blow the RUSKIES out of the water and not look back.. IF Obama wins…LOCK AND LOAD and (I believe) the Military still won’t work for Obama.

    Thank you, Senator McCain.

I am a veteran. I care about jobs. I care about the fact that Senator Reid has been an obstructionist. I care about the fact that there has been no budget for over 3 years.

But most of all, I care about the men and women who are serving our country, who are putting themselves in harms way, knowing that there will thankless millions when they return.

To think that the Commander in Chief, the COMMANDER IN CHIEF, does not have their back is unacceptable. It is bad enough that many of the politicians who make decisions that affect the lives and livelihoods of the armed forces have no experience in the armed forces, the fact that some of those who are elected POTUS have no experience and will never be in harms way, but to think that there is a COMMANDER IN CHIEF who will not make the call to allow service men and women to protect themselves is reprehensible.

The media talking heads should keep their ignorant thoughts to themselves if they cannot understand the sacrifices made by the men and women, many of whom don’t agree with the politics of Washington at ANY given moment.

I was a POW debriefer. I give McCain full support on the issue of veterans understanding what it means to not leaving anyone behind and the mess in Benghazi.

He is too liberal for me and I did hold my nose in 2008.

My son is on his 4th deployment. I know how he feels about Benghazi which is betrayal.

Our current administration let those people die! We didn’t even TRY! This is not the America I know! We should have sent Marines and gunships and even if everyone was dead when we got there we should have left NOTHING alive and Charred earth for a mile in every direction!!! It is DISGRACEFUL that we did not even try, it breaks my heart.

This goes to trust! If the Military can’t trust their Commander in Chief then there is going to big problems! The only reason that Benghazi isn’t a bigger deal to voters is the suppression of the story by the lame stream media!!

Liberals talking about things of which they have no knowledge………again.

The only point I will agree with is when Lizza said (paraphrased) the only people concerned about Benghazi are the conservatives. The liberals have completely downplayed what happened, who and why four Americans died and the political cover up by Obama and his administration.

I want to read what you veterans here on the Blaze have to say……..

MOMS, being a Veteran of 24 years you are on point, liberals believe paying taxes allows them an opinion and gives them insight into the Military, yet deep down and on the surface they have no empathy for the Soldier on the ground.

Right on McCain! Its times like these when he finally breaks out of that shell and says what needs to be said!

Just like how Romney was vindicated about the Benghazi cover-up – this story (on Drudge today) vindicates Romney about how we need a stronger Navy!!!

“I’ve heard veterans more outraged when the U.S. Senate didn’t even pass the veterans job bills, and they said, ‘that’s directly impacting us,’” said Martin,

OK, here’s the link. Scroll down to the Bill, then scroll down to page 133 and read…

Section 376. (a) “Abrogation of State Immunity”

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/economy/jobsact

Why Congress doesn’t bring this EVERY time someone mentions Obama’s Job Act is beyond me.

Not the Veteran’s Job Bill but it is one of Obama’s jobs Bills.

I haven’t read the Veteran’s Job Bill but the White House has been sticking this clause in almost it’s Bills.

And since all those Bills that are coming from the White House spend money they must start in the House according to the Constitution. They all start off illegally.

Hi MONK! Just now catching up! I read that section you referred to, Gosh, that stuff makes my eyes bleed, anyway I don’t think a law or in this case an act can nullify an Amendment to the Constitution. At least not without the say so of the Supreme Court! I wonder if anyone has tried to use this section yet??

Regardless of what one thinks of McCain’s politics and how he handled himself during the last election cycle for POTUS… he had some cajones at one time in his life and it earns him my sincere respect as former Military.
