Why Are These Young Boston Students Voting? ‘Medical Marijuana’ & ‘Assisted Suicide’

TheBlaze interviewed some of the people waiting to vote at the Benjamin Franklin Technology Institute, a major polling place in Boston today. Among the simple questions we asked was the question “what brought you out to vote today?”

These youngsters had unique answer that included medicinal marijuana and assisted suicide (both separate ballot measures) as well as gay rights. And even though they admit they’re Obama supporters, they say if Romney is elected it would not be an “apocalypse for gay rights.” That’s because, they say, you’re going to have “a house and a senate that probably, maybe will be Democrat.”

  The whole point of voting is to assert via ballot what you feel is important. That never means other folks (or the majority) will agree with you,but you put in your two cents worth. Lots o’ folks on this forum today who appear to have a problem with this process. This is as about as peaceful as the political process can get… and it absolutely infuriates some folks (most who make it clear they’re partisans first, American’s second). Deal with it.
  Hell, I used be one of those pukes, so MADMAT62 has a point; we all have the potential to grow up (or “evolve”). Maybe this is the “Get High and Kill Yourself Lobby”; very popular with the nihilists I suspect.

  Make folks earn the right to vote. See Robert Heinlein’s Starship Troopers (the book, NOT the watered down movie). That’s the only limit I’d accept. But for now, like it or not, these kids have a right to vote, same as you and me. What they vote to promote or protect is their business and their right. You don’t endear people to your cause be saying those who oppose you aren’t even worthy of a voice. Kinda makes a big ol’ _________. Feel free to fill in the blank.

  I believe we’ve stumbled upon the one article that will reveal how some of you folks ain’t too keen on open elections.
  SURELY this is the first time in human history children challenged the status quo and were seen as a threat by the same. Hmm, I’m thinking this story has played out LONG before these kids were a gleam in their fathers’ eyes.
