Al Qaeda Leader Zawahiri: Benghazi Attack Signifies American Weakness

Al Qaeda Leader Zawahiri: Benghazi Attack Signifies American Weakness

Credit: AFP/Getty Images

Following quickly on the heels of the U.S. presidential election, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri proclaimed that the terror attack against the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghaz indicates that American “awe is lost” in the region. In an audio message addressed to the Somali jihadist group, al-Shabaab, Zawahiri said American influence in the region is floundering due to weakness.

“They were defeated in Iraq and they are withdrawing from Afghanistan and their ambassador in Benghazi was killed and the flags of their embassies were lowered in Cairo and Sanaa (Yemen),” a translation the militant’s message reads in the Long War Journal.

“Their awe is lost and their might is gone and they don’t dare to carry out a new campaign like their past ones in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Al Qaeda is, of course, along with other militant groups, are still sweeping the Maghreb — in particular, Libya. On Tuesday turmoil reached a fever pitch in Benghazi after a car bomb exploded near a police station late in the day, a police officer told AFP. He added that two of his colleagues were injured in a subsequent gunfight with the primary suspect. The vehicle reportedly belonged to a law enforcement officer and it was believed to have been ignited by a hand grenade or fishing explosives.

“One of them is in a critical condition and the other was hit on his foot,” said the police officer, adding that the suspect had escaped.

The country’s newly elected authorities are attempting to empower the national army and police but are losing control of militias that sprung from the 2011 uprising against Libya’s longtime dictator, Muammar Gadhafi.

AFP adds more on the wave of assassinations ravaging the country:

The city has also witnessed a wave of assassinations, targeting officials with links to the former regime, which are often blamed on hardline Islamists.

On Tuesday, also in Benghazi, the bullet ridden corpse of retired colonel Abdul Karim Mahfud, who backed the 2011 revolution, was found in his farm.

Libya held its first elections in July but the new government officials are struggling with how best to provide security in the volatile area.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

OF COURSE?? Why did AFP wait until a day after the election to report this? It’s old news. Why the heck should we care anyway? Obama has thrown the ME into chaos and all the news media, including you, failed to report it. Go **** yourself, AFP. We need to take care of business here.

Lastly we are utterly broke, and borrowing every dime.

Even since U.S. President Jimmy Carter encouraged Israel to give away land for peace in the 1978 Camp David Accords some misinterpreted the U.S. to be weak. Why continue this path?
Here was a prophecy, December 4, 1987: “If the Eagle will not act as a chicken, peace can be made − the preparation for peace.
But we say unto you, the cleansing of the earth and its reconstruction is still before you. We also said to you, the threat of nuclear war is still before you − the reality, and the greater possibility, for there are those who think that the Eagle and the Bear have grown weak and weary. As they have already taken advantage of both, they shall continue to take advantage. They shall bring distrust where there should be none.
We say unto you these things. But we also say unto you the greatest of all things, the fulfillment that you have celebrated for so long, the birth of the Messiah. Within the joy of all things and all times, is the greatest joy of walking with one’s God, walking with the Father of us all − He who cares, He who loves, He who is the giver of all. For in the awesome twilight for all disaster the Lord shall spread His mercy upon the land. For those things we can tell you of, only of those things we know. Yet we know not fully the full plan of the Lord.” http://www.angelfire.com/in4/aup_messiah/1987December04.audio.html

I’m saying he was no victim. He worked with the Libyan revolutionary forces. He supplied them with weapons on behalf of Obama BEFORE he was appointed ambassador to “liberated” Libya.

Why are we defending these people? Do you know how much damage all the Hussein operatives involved in the Arab Spring have done to America? They helped Morsi and they were helping the jihadists in Libya. So why are we decrying their deaths? They were not patriots. Whatever would compel the Evildoer to say that?! Liberals have never been able to wear the pants when it comes to foreign hostile threats. Weakness?! Examples include–slick Willy, dumb as a door Gore, Sheikh Obama. ;^)))

Obama didn’t kill him the SEALS did. Barry doesn’t possess the stones to actually pull the trigger.

Al Qaeda is sweeping the Mahgreb & the organisation is growing & mestatising.

Yet all you can say is Usama is dead.

You remark is so flippant & uninformed you should be embarrassed.

Maybe you don;t care the Mali is 50% overrun. Maybe you don’t care that Al Qaeda is making inroads in Libya. Maybe you don’t care that terrorists wipe out whole villages in Algeria, put women into sexual slavery & have affiliated with Al Qaeda, or were working with the plague.

Where else do you post? I think you are some sort of sick freak that is mentally disturbed.

That is just a silly comment. That in no way represents a weakness. We have been making bad choices as nation but we still have 10( was 11 up until a week ago) aircraft carrier battle groups. The next closets country that has one is Russia and its a very old outdated one. We have enough nuclear missiles to end life on earth many times over. We have a military budget that is 10 times the next country on the list China( our bankers ).

Our only weakness comes from our lack of commitment to make our politicians follow the Constitution. Its so simple. If we return and follow the Constitution we will be restored. If not, we will collapse.

Doesn’t do much good to have carrier groups if the commander in chief refuses to allow them to do battle now does it…..

@Mutiny..you do realize China is actually spending a lot more than you think….they are only reporting what they want the world to think they are spending…unlike the U.S. who openly tells the world China doesn’t….but I’m sure you won’t believe this but you will see in time….both Russia and China (as well as the rest of the world) is upgrading their military and we are gutting ours…..that is a sign of weakness.

No, it is rather an appropriate observation and not a silly comment at all. What good is a carrier group if all it does is promote gay sex and burn fuel? It certainly didn’t come to the aid of Ambassador Stevens and Navy Seals begging for help. Instead of hunting down the murderers, the Administration waffled and capitulated to Jihadist sympathies in front of the UN. It doesn’t matter how big a sword a man carries, if he is too weak willed to bring it to bear, then it might as well be an oil painting, or a plush toy rabbit. At this point though, the radical Muslims are far less of a threat than Washington DC, so it doesn’t really matter at all what Zawawhatever his name says. He might as well have made a statement about baking cupcakes.

      @pop

You do realize the Chinese are so far behind technology wise. They just got stealth tech we had in the seventies. Yes I do know they spend a lot of money but we waste a lot of money. We would have a much more powerful military if we would quit being the policemen of the world and protect ourselves. We have 900 bases in 120 countries. Our empire is coming to a end not because we will be overrun by Chinese, but because we will collapse under our own weight.

Congratulations Obama, your insanity of weakness has emboldened our enemies more and more as with your re-election they know you will do nothing to them. Our nation is now more vulnerable than ever.

And now we will reap the whirlwind of blood and violence he has sewn. I am only wondering which will come first – Obama’s dictatorship, a mass series of terror attacks, or a terror NBC attack killing thousands?
