How Did Hollywood React to the Election? We Have the Top Conservative and Liberal Responses

Obama Supporters…

Singer/Actress Beyoncé Knowles:

Beyoncé Knowles expressed perhaps the most outward enthusiasm in Hollywood for President Obama’s re-election, having campaigned with her husband Jay-Z for months.

In addition to posting photos of herself voting and modeling in “Texans for Obama” t-shirts, Knowles also wrote a letter to the president in which she said he inspires everyone to “give more” of themselves.  She also wrote a simple note reading “TAKE THAT MITCHES,” presumably the contrived union of “Mitt” and “bi**ches,” and posted it on her Instagram account.

Singer/Actress Cher:

(Photo: AP)

Cher has long been known as a Hollywood leftist, periodically posting barely decipherable tweets about how Republicans are all “OLD WHITE MEN” who can’t get “laid,” etc.

After a number of tweets throughout the night about how Mitt Romney’s laugh is enough to make her “sob” and how he is “beneath contempt,” Cher nearly exploded with joy at hearing Barack Obama won, if her Twitter feed is any indication:

“Actress, Activist, and Philanthropist” Eva Longoria:

(Photo: AP)

Eva Longoria is another prominent actress who has spent considerable time stumping for the president.  She even appeared in a women-centered ad with fellow starlets Scarlett Johansson and Kerry Washington, where the three furthered the notion that Republicans are trying to “redefine rape.”

After a brief thumb in the eye to the Romney-Ryan ticket, Longoria said she was “on tears” and celebrating with her friends, being extremely liberal with her use of exclamation points:

Entrepreneur, Musician, Actor, Designer Sean Combs a.k.a. “Diddy”:

(Photo: AP)

Though Diddy (formerly known as Sean Combs, Puff Daddy, P Diddy, etc.) hasn’t been particularly active with the Obama re-election effort in the mainstream media, he tends to be a pretty big force with the MTV crowd.

Long involved with initiatives like “Vote or Die” and “Rock the Vote,” here’s what Diddy’s Twitter feed looked like as the results were streaming in (content warning):

Pop Star Lady Gaga:

(Photo: AP)

Lady Gaga, the eccentric pop star who once wore a meat dress, expressed wild enthusiasm for President Obama’s win Tuesday night.  A longtime supporter of gay rights, her song “Born This Way” was embraced by some as “an anthem for diversity and acceptance,” The Daily Beast notes.

Here’s what Lady Gaga wrote on Tuesday night:

Romney Supporters…

Rock Star Ted Nugent:

Hollywood Celebrities Weigh in on Obama Presidential Win 2012

(Photo: AP)

Perhaps the longest of all the Twitter weigh-ins came from Ted Nugent, a longtime supporter of Mitt Romney, the troops, and other conservative causes.  Nugent got in the race early on, and has been smeared as part of the “lunatic fringe” by members of the Obama campaign.  He was even taken in for questioning by the Secret Service at one point, though they almost immediately said the issue was “resolved.”

Though the Twitter account’s description says it is managed by TedNugent.com, it says he weighs in occasionally and it’s highly unlikely a staffer would go on such a rant on Nugent’s page.

Here’s what Nugent presumably wrote:

Comedian and Actor Jon Lovitz:

Hollywood Celebrities Weigh in on Obama Presidential Win 2012

(Photo: Getty Images)

Jon Lovitz was a bit more measured in his response, though, in keeping with his profession, he joked about how excited he was to go to a hospital “run by the DMV.”  Lovitz has clearly expressed his disappointment with the Democrat Party several times throughout the past year, particularly regarding how they tend to vilify the rich.

“This whole thing with Obama saying the rich don’t pay their taxes is f***king bulls**t. And I voted for the guy and I’m a Democrat. What a f***king a**hole,” he said at the time.

Read his tweets, here:

Actress Stacey Dash:

Hollywood Celebrities Weigh in on Obama Presidential Win 2012

(Photo: Twitter/@REALStaceyDash)

Stacey Dash started a political firestorm after coming out in support of the Romney-Ryan ticket, with many implying that, because she’s black, it’s somehow unacceptable for her to vote Republican.

Dash didn’t back down, however, and wrote a 1,334-word essay before the election why she supports Mitt Romney.  The letter was incredibly gracious, and she emphasized that she is not voting against Barack Obama or the Democrat Party, even complimenting the president for what he has accomplished.  In the end, though, she believes social issues must take a back seat when the economy is in trouble, and that the two sides of the country must be able to work together.

Read the entire letter here.

Here’s what Dash’s Twitter feed looked like last night:

Actress Melissa Joan Hart:

Melissa Joan Hart, an actress that many of the younger generation voting “grew up” with through her shows like “Clarissa Explains It All” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” said she was voting for the Romney-Ryan ticket last week.

After being flooded with comments, many of them negative, she responded: “Guess what? A person can care about the earth AND marriage equality AND want the economy back AND … have a good healthcare system that works all at the same time &choose not to continue on the path of the last 4 years! #RomneyRyan2012.”

On Election night, Hart pointed out that– at least within her social circle– there didn’t appear to be a whole lot of gracious winners:

“Conservative in Hollywood,” TV host, Navy Vet and Political Activist Chuck Woolery:

Hollywood Celebrities Weigh in on Obama Presidential Win 2012

(Photo: YouTube)

Chuck Woolery is a longtime lone conservative in Hollywood, having attained the level success that, like Clint Eastwood or Chuck Norris, he is free to state his true beliefs without fear of retribution at work.

Earlier in the night Woolery was pretty active on Twitter, engaging with a number of people about how energized they were, or discussing the stranger aspects of the Democrat Party.

“The most dangerous place to be today is in between a Republican and a voting booth,” he repeated as the line of the day.  Later he added: “Why is it when you disagree with the left, You are a racist . Must be a reflex-self defense mechanism for Morons.”

Though he was disappointed when Romney lost, Woolery managed to keep his composure:

There are far more celebrities with political views out there– we spared you Mariah Carey’s Obama tribute song, for instance.

The Huffington Post has a gallery of 172 celebrities and their political reactions here, for more.

Lady Gaga speaks of the “Joy when freedom prevails”. What freedom prevailed? You just cemented the fact we’ll have $22,000,000,000,000 in debt when Obama leaves office. We’ll crash long before then. Your money will be worthless, you’ll have no food, water, medical care, desperation and misery everywhere…but hey, you’ve got your free condoms, right?

lady gaga just donated one million to the red cross. The republican super pac donors and mitt backers are not donating to the hurricane relief. The american people are seeing this and absorbing this information. Real recognize Real and the fakers are also being recognized. The republicans need to remember that compassion was once celebrated in their party.

She gave $1M to American Red Cross, that’s cute, most of it will go to paying the bloated salaries of the people at the top and “admin costs”. Very little of it goes to helping people.

Conservatives statistically give FAR more than liberals to charity and relief work. The difference is we don’t broadcast it or gloat, we don’t do it for recognition like you do.

The ignorant women in my family who voted for Obama voted for him because of “women’s rights.” I asked them what rights, in particular, are you concerned about. Of course, the answer was “reproductive rights.” Really? I asked. What rights in particular? Abortion and contraception, of course, was the response. Uh huh, I said. Last time I checked, contraception has been available since 1960, and abortion was legalized by the SCOTUS in 1972. I guess what they really mean is, when they aren’t smart enough or responsible enough to remember to take their taxpayer-funded birth control pills, they want the taxpayer to pay for their abortions. God Almighty, we have gone over the cliff. How in the world to we come back from this?

9 out of 10 women I know between the ages of 19 and 29 have truly heartfelt support for one issue and one issue only. The right of a woman to have an abortion. Our young women care more about being allowed to kill babies more than anything else. This is truly horrifying.

Many people voted for free stuff and because they bought the scare tactics that Romney was going to outlaw contraception. They voted with their “lady parts”. Half this country cares more about free stuff and where they put their penis than they do about the economy and the fact it will crash in about 18 months.

To those of you who say conservatives need a makeover:

Hollywood worships youth and beauty. Hollywood has so much dysfunction, addiction, and pain due to what they value, which is not lasting. Conservatives DO NOT need to mimic this obsession with looks and youth.

We must CHANGE the culture…..not change WITH the culture!

It’s truly sad that these atheists have no awareness of their souls. That is what keeps them from understanding the whole concept of liberty and why our rights are God given. They will never understand the fundamental foundations of what the U.S. Constitution replaced until they see it, sadly with their own eyes.
The oddest part of all is their leaders, the progressive party has taken over 100 years of concerted effort trying to take it down, yet describe this system that will not fall as failed. Could have stood back and watched it fail if that was true.

My true philosophy (I hope) is Bible based. Repubs have a problem with not standing up to anyone who claims to be conservative, like “family value” politicians who are obviously using a platform to advance themselves while screwing around when the mic’s are off. Vitter. Hannnity and Limbaugh have no problem discussing Hillary Clintons college days or what Obama was doing 20 years ago so its open season. Any 30 year old man who sleeps with 16 year old girls is a pedophile, peripatetic life or not.

Two relationships (one with his wife and one with “muse” Pele Massa, who was 17 when they started dating) were ended due to Ted’s infidelity while on the road, often with underage women. But Ted justifies his behavior with one of his trademark funny expressions: “alternative flesh management.” Pure republican.

I don’t condone it but there it is. It is a reason to not cast so many stones. A peripatetic life his harder for most than the life of someone who is home every night.

But your stone throwing doesn’t seem like friendly fire so much as a green on blue attack.

PAINTED! You shouldn’t give away your true philosophy!

@VICTOR – check out Madison Rising – This band Endorsed Romney/Ryan and said the campaign could use their songs free. They are on youtube and have a website. I love their version of the Star Spangle Banner. Lead singer was in the navy. Songs about soldiers and service too.

People supporting Obama are young and stupid, who voted for free stuff. They care more about free stuff and where they put their penis than they do about keeping the economy viable and stable. If that’s “hip”, I want nothing to do with it.
