This Race Is Far From Decided: Allen West Wants a Recount in Florida Re Election Race

Getty Images

Facing defeat, Florida Rep. Allen West on Wednesday demanded a recount in his bid for re-election against Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy.

With all precincts in the south Florida district reporting, Murphy has 160,328 votes, or 50.4 percent, to West’s 157,872 votes and 49.6 percent, according to the Associated Press, which has still not officially declared a winner.

In a statement Wednesday morning, the Republican congressman and Tea Party favorite’s campaign said the race was still far from over.

“This race is far from decided and there is no rush to declare an outcome,” the campaign said. “Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance. There are still tens of thousands of absentee ballots to be counted in Palm Beach County and potential provisional ballots across the district.”

The campaign went on to voice suspicions about the actions of one county election supervisor and called for a full hand recount.

“Late last night Congressman West maintained a district-wide lead of nearly 2,000 votes until the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections ‘recounted’ thousands of early ballots,” the campaign said. “Following that ‘recount’ Congressman West trailed by 2,400 votes.”

The campaign said there were “numerous other disturbing irregularities” reported at polls across the county, including “doors to polling places being locked when the polls closed” — a violation of Florida law because it prevents the public from being able to witness how results are tabulated.

“The St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections office clearly ignored proper rules and procedures, and the scene at the Supervisor’s office last night could only be described as complete chaos,” the campaign said. “We believe it is critical that a full hand recount of the ballots take place in St. Lucie County. We will continue to fight to ensure every vote is counted properly and fairly, and accordingly will pursue all legal means necessary.”

      Don’t worry, there are plenty of “uncounted” ballots prepared and stashed “innocently” in car trunks, drawers, and “overlooked” laying inside voting machines that will ensure a Democrat victory in a recount. How many of these overlooked ballots, all for the Democratic candidate of course, are “found”, will depend on how the count goes along hour by hour. Yes, ask Al Franken, this worked perfectly for him when he was behind in MN, and this FL guy is ahead…it’ll be easy!

      For the last time he wasn’t gerrymandered out of his district. We passed a ballot measure saying you can’t redistrict in Florida to make it lean to one party or another. so it was done by law. And the coward West didn’t stay in His district 22. He cut and ran from his elected district to another because he knew he couldn’t be elected there. Go back to Georgia loser. Your not a Floridian anyways.

      @JROOK: Great question, why would they change their vote? Why would, as you say, a primarily conservative district all of the sudden vote for Obama? Who was in charge at the poll? Who ordered a recount of ballots and why? Seems very unlikely that West would be up by 2000 votes, then after a recount be down 2400 votes in his own district. But I guess you see no reason to question anything cause your guy won. That’s just sad.

      Well JRook there is a bit of a difference between a student loan and an ROTC Scholarship. One you sign a piece of paper saying you’ll pay back the money from your future paychecks, the other says that you agree to pay back the money with a minimum of 5 years of your life, if not the remainder of it. Some times you make it through the 5 years, but not necessarily physically intact. Ask the officers who have suffered severe injuries. Even those who don’t collect benefits aren’t necessarily injured. How many “jobs” cause permanent injury or death on a routine basis? Only someone who has never been in the military wouldn’t understand the difference.

      Allen West is a good man. This is another reason why I KNOW this election was STOLEN… Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want but it doesn’t make sense. The conservatives are WIDE AWAKE. In 2010 we got a bunch of conservatives elected…. ever since then Obummer’s had countless “devastating occurrences” (including, but not limited to Benghazi, Healthcare, “Tell Vladimir that I’ll have more flexibility after the election”, “You didn’t build that”, “Vote for revenge”, he blew tax payer money on green jobs like Solyndra – (as well as others) – and sooo many good conservatives either thrown out or not elected, such as Allen West and Mia Love…. also, states like Colorado voting in legalizing marijuana and same-sex marriage…. I don’t think so!! This was a completely stolen election! Even Karl Rove questioned it!!

      You said “Arrest all the illegals who “voted” in our elections.” Do you have any actual evidence of illegals voting?

      “Investigate the international, Soros companies who “counted” our election and invalidate those “results.” Does that mean Tagg Romney companies with should also be investigated and votes invalidated for their ownership of voting machines in Ohio?

      “Pull the FCC licenses of the Obama propaganda Media and get them off America’s airwaves.” That would also mean the FCC license of Fox News should also be pulled and removed from the airwaves since it is basically the propaganda arm of the republican party. Roger Ailes even let Bush’s first cousin call the election for Bush.

If he does not receive the recount, he will have become undone by the perfect storm of required redistricting and unlimited advertising funds. But this could make him stronger and wiser.

So the little sissy terrorist was slapped around a little and a gun was shot near his head, so?….and? You need to educate yourselves. So it’s ok the terrorists killed our Navy Seals, 22 of them, after big mouth Obama announced who they were, violating the secrecy of the mission on the killing of bin laden. He then sat with his puppet Clinton in the White House watching our ambassador and three other Americans killed. He has done nothing regarding the murder of a border guard. So who is the criminal??? Being convicted of a crime by the military is not the same as being a war criminal. By your reasoning a man convicted of disorderly conduct is on par with a man who ordered the death of thousands of noncombatants. If Obama was a General when he ordered the AVAILABLE support in the area to stand down and allow AMERICAN CITIZENS to be killed, he would have been court martialed for TREASON!

      Article 15 is Non-judicial punishment and only administrative. It is not a court martial that has prison time as punishment. So he is not a criminal as you so poorly try to assert. It was a career ending bad mark on his record. Additionally as a result of his actions there were no attacks on the men of his unit until after he was relieved of command on October 4th. As a retired senior Navy non-commissioned officer I would do everything in my power to bring all my men home. I would rather have my career ended that way then tell a spouse that their loved one did not come home became I failed to act on available intel.

    I don’t want to waste my time being angry anymore. I want to start a campaign now to elect our next president in 2016. I want that person to be Allen West. I don’t want to wait for the G.O.P to get behind our canidate, and I don’t want to be forced to get behind their canidate of choice, with that said, I want to start a billion dollar campaign to elect Allen West, and I want to start raising that money starting this year. anyone else feel the same way. I’ve never done anything like this, have no idea where to start, but we need to seperate ourself from the G.O.P. and come together on a canidate that even the demoncrates in the end will want, we need to change the direction of this country. This is far from over.

      Slow down folks… Moving away from the GOP only promises to reduce our percentages, which from last night are a problem. I truly believe the big issue here for us is “Hope”. People will vote in the direction that provides them the most hope.

      So the question is, how do we present a conservative movement that conveys real hope to folks? If you’re on public assistance, unemployment, etc… and someone talks about cutting it that’s not providing hope. We have to show people that they can take control of their personal lives and the government does nothing but keep them down or hinder them. This is where conservatives and libertarians have failed so far. I really belive this is the crux of the issue.

      Hey MARYANN,

      I think I will stay angry for a while longer – maybe 4 years. West is a good, honest, and honorable man. So were R/R.

      I am on a kick to boycott these liberal media hacks. I want to bankrupt these unethical characters and put them out of business. If we don’t stop them in their tracks, we will never win another Whitehouse or Congress. All we will be able to do is P & Moan.

      I just looked this up and there are over 56 million daily newspapers sold (at $1 ea. ?)
      There are 60 million Sunday rags sold. (at $3 ea. ?)

      Check my math, but:
      Daily: 56 million X 5 days X $1 ea. = $ 280,000,000 per year.
      Sunday: 60 million X 52 Sundays X $3 ea. = $ 9,360,000,000 per year
      Total Sales: $ 9,640,000,000 per year.

      80% are liberal, so by boycotting them, there is a loss of sales to these lib rags of:
      $ 9,640,000,000 X 80% = $ 7,712,000,000 (that’s about $7.7 Billion saved per year for the consumer)

      If half the consumers are boycotting, that is:
      $ 7,712,000,000 / 2 = $ 3,856,000,000 per year saved.

      Have the boycotting conservatives donate $1 of every $3 saved and there is your Billion.

      The best part is that the conservative candidate (West will do fine) will actually be financed by the Liberal Press!

      How about that, MARYANN…

      Crap! A math revision already!
      Just checked my own math and I left out that there are 52 weeks per year for the dailies.

      Check my math again, but:
      Daily: 56 million X 5 days X 52 weeks per year X $1 ea. = $ 14,560,000,000 per year.
      Sunday: 60 million X 52 Sundays X $3 ea. = $ 9,360,000,000 per year
      Total Sales: $ 23,920,000,000 per year.

      80% are liberal, so by boycotting them, there is a loss of sales to these lib rags of:
      $ 23,920,000,000 X 80% = $ 19,136,000,000 (that’s about $20 Billion saved per year for the consumer)

      If half the consumers are boycotting, that is:
      $ 19,136,000,000 / 2 = $ 9,568,000,000 per year saved.

      Now have the boycotting conservatives donate $1 of every $9 saved and there is your Billion.

Evidently all of the tampering is legal if done by or for the Democratic party. I agree that everything changed too quickly at the end of the evening’s voting. ‎1 Samuel 8 – they wanted a king over them, not the King of Kings:
      …but they have rejected me [God] from being king over them…but you shall solemnly warn them and show them the ways of the king who shall reign over them…he will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots and to be his horsemen and to run before his chariots. And he will appoint for himself commanders…and some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive orchards and give them to his servants. He will take the tenth of your grain and of your vineyards and give it to his officers and to his servants. He will take your male servants and female servants and the best of your young men and your donkeys, and put them to work. He will take the tenth of your flocks, and you shall be his slaves. And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.

Oh, wait, those two are the same thing, so yes, White America HAS become a nation of COWARDS. Oops, did I go too far, Blaze moderators? Wouldn’t want to suggest to the ignorant hicks that they should unite as a group much less stand up for themselves.
