Just as the East Coast began to recover little more than a week after it was slammed by Hurricane Sandy, a winter storm brought an unwelcome rain-snow mix to New York and New Jersey through Wednesday.
From Connecticut to Rhode Island, the storm dropped 3 to 6 inches — or even more. Worcester, Mass., saw 8 inches of snow, and Freehold, N.J., had just over a foot overnight. That meant more trees snapped and power lines down in an area where thousands people have been without power since Nov. 29. Here’s a breakdown of the power outages as of Thursday morning:
- New Jersey: 400,000 without power; 20,000 of these cases are new
- New York City and Westchester: 70,000 without power; 55,000 of these are new cases
- Long Island: 200,000 without power; 60,000 of these cases are new
- Connecticut: spotty outages reported
We found some of the most incredible photos from the storm and have included them below:
Katie Wilford was leaving her Brick Township home near Barnegat Bay as the nor’easter approached Wednesday. She bundled her sons Nick, 14, and Matthew, 10, into the minivan in search of an open motel.
“It’s a little overwhelming,” she told the Associated Press. “I can’t believe we’re doing this again. We’re going on Day 10 with no power. That’s a long time. I just want the sun to come out and things to be normal again.”
Many have been voicing their frustrations over the back-to-back storms on Twitter:

Nov. 8, 2012 at 10:01amLong past time for nature to flush the toilet and wash that cesspool out to sea.
I had a professor who liked to say “the solution to pollution is dilution”, well Professor you were more correct than you ever imagined. The way to cure our problem with Communists is to dilute them. Either force them out into the real world or wash them out to sea.

Nov. 8, 2012 at 10:03amGhostof Jefferson and anybody else thinking this way. In New Jersey we are still trying to clean up from the derecho in June. And now we are trying to clean up from Sandy, not to mention the poor souls suffering more cold and wet from the winter storm. My husband and I were pretty lucky with the hurricane, living about 8 miles inland. But we have relatives who were hit very hard. So when we finish here ghost, we will come on out and help you pick up from the effects of the derecho, OK?

Nov. 8, 2012 at 10:21amWell Lima, see, we already had it cleaned up 2 weeks afterwards, and we were hit VERY hard. All private effort, and no help from the East Coast. When we were done, we sent our own electricians to the other states to help. And you’re still cleaning up from the Derecho? Wow.
I have no disdain for the 5 to 10 libertarians/conservatives still left in those states, and I invite them to come out here and discover some measure of freedom (for however long it lasts). But the sad fact is that NY and NJ might as well be another nation these days, they are so contrary to every founding principle. And given the inefficiency of your cleanups even from last June, I think it’s pretty obvious at that.
We got by without NY/NJ help, and in short order and with more damage. Good luck to you folks if you really are libertarian or conservative. Once you can, get out, is all I can advise.

Nov. 8, 2012 at 10:14amI’m with you. I hope this winter buries them in misery. These socialist idiots voted to put Obama back into office and by doing so they have assured the destruction of America. They should now turn to their islamic master and grovel before him for relief. My great hope is that the destruction begins with them and I don’t care if they ever see it end.

Nov. 8, 2012 at 9:24amIran would say: God is punishing us for not doing enough to the west. The so-called west would say Iran is getting punished by God. People say New York is getting punished. People say Guatemala is getting punished. Therefore another is standing in to you saying these things. God’s children should know God will take care of them, and so they should not think deeply about reports of quakes and such in diverse places.

Nov. 8, 2012 at 9:23amWe had the Derecho hit this last summer in Ohio. Lots of folks from other states came to help, all of them from what was reported from the South and West (and some from Pennsylvania and West Virginia). Can’t recall loads of New Jersey and New York types showing up to help. In fact, I don’t remember seeing or hearing about one red cent of aid or one electrical worker sent to help us.
Huh.

Nov. 8, 2012 at 9:39amYou are exactly right and can look at NY/NJ voting for your answer. Consistently vote liberal/democrat ticket. They want government to take care of them. Well, I now say that you reap what you sow. Let the government of those states take care of the people who put them in control because I no longer donate my money or time to those areas. I’m sure there are a huge number of Obama supporters who will pick up the slack and help the folks who vote for them. Like Joe Biden – I think his tax return showed he donated almost $500 to charity last year.

Nov. 8, 2012 at 9:09amAmerica just voted in a political party that denounced God three times at their convention. A president who’s wedding ring read in Arabic “There is no God but Allah”. A president that bows down to others but not to the people he is suppose to serve. A president that announced yesterday that one of his first goals as being re-elected is to establish the land of Palestine within Jerusalem:
“Obama quietly pledged to the Palestinians a campaign at the United Nations to renew U.N. Security Council Resolution 242, which calls for a Palestinian state to be established in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and eastern Jerusalem. ” “Obama had promised the PA that the establishment of a Palestinian state will be one of the main priorities for a second term.”
There are repercussions for who you vote for. Woe to those that live on the coast.

Prepare people prepare. More devastation is coming down upon us and the first thing you should do to prepare is give your life to Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Spread the word, we need to wake people up to the truth before it is to late for them. My heart aches for those who know the truth and choose to ignore it.
