How Many Businesses Have Announced Closings or Layoffs Since Obama Won A Second Term?
Editor’s note: We’ll be discussing this story and all the day’s political news on our live BlazeCast at 1:30pm ET:
Do elections have consequences? If you have been paying attention to the financial markets, you might think so. Wall Street has had two horrible days since President Obama won a second term.
However, stock prices are not the only thing taking a hit. It appears that the job market is also suffering. In the last 48 hours, the following major corporations have announced layoffs in America (links take you to news stories about the layoffs – with details from the companies):
• Energizer -
The St. Louis-based company said Thursday that it expects to shed about 1,500 employees. When finished, the restructuring should lead to $200 million in pretax yearly savings, Energizer said. It aims to have most of its restructuring steps finished by the end of September 2014.
Exide Technologies announced Thursday that it will be idling its lead-recycling operations in Laureldale and laying off 150 workers, effective no later than March 31.
• Westinghouse -
Westinghouse Anniston, the contractor responsible for shutting down Anniston’s chemical weapons incinerator, has reduced its workforce by another 50 employees.
• Research in Motion Limited -
Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, laid off about 200 people at its U.S. headquarters in Irving on Wednesday, according to a source close to the company who did not want to be named.
• Lightyear Network Solutions -
More than one dozen employees at a Pikeville company lost their jobs this week. Officials with Lightyear Network Solutions said they are consolidating offices in Louisville and Pikeville to save money.
The Providence Journal Co. laid off 23 full-time workers Wednesday as part of a cost-cutting effort, including 16 members of the Providence Newspaper Guild and 7 non-union employees.
The company says 240 employees will lose their jobs with the closing of Hawker Beechcraft Services facilities in Little Rock, Ark.; Mesa, Ariz.; and San Antonio, Texas.
• Boeing (30% of their management staff) -
Boeing Co. said Wednesday it plans to employ 30% fewer executives at its Boeing Defense, Space & Security unit by the end of 2012 compared to 2010 levels.
CVPH Medical Center has handed pink slips to 17 employees. The layoffs — nine in management and eight hourly staffers — are part of an effort to “help bolster the hospital’s financial position in 2013 and beyond,” a press release said.
• US Cellular -
The move will result in 980 job cuts at U.S. Cellular, with 640 in the Chicago area, according to a spokeswoman. The cuts are slightly under 12 percent of the approximately 8,400 total employees U.S. Cellular had at the end of the third quarter.
• Momentive Performance Materials -
About 150 workers at Sistersville’s Momentive Performance Materials plant will be temporarily laid off later this month, officials said this week.
• Rocketdyne -
About 100 employees at Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, most of whom work in the San Fernando Valley, were laid off Wednesday in response to dwindling government spending on space exploration, the company said. The layoffs were effective immediately, and 75 percent of them came at the facilities on Canoga and De Soto avenues, which employ about 1,100 people. The company has six sites across the Valley.
• Brake Parts -
The leader of an automotive parts plant in Lincoln County has told state officials that there are plans to lay off 75 workers starting in late December…The layoffs are expected to start Dec. 28 and continue in the first quarter of 2013
Vestas Wind Systems A/S (VWS) is seeking to sell a stake of as much as 20 percent and said it’s reducing headcount by 3,000 to raise the staff cuts by the biggest wind turbine maker to almost a third over two years.
• Husqvarna -
Husqvarna AB (HUSQB), the world’s biggest maker of powered garden tools, plans to cut about 600 jobs in a move that will save 220 million kronor ($33 million) a year by 2014.
• Center for Hospice New York -
The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care plans to temporarily lay off as many as 40 employees next year as it embarks on a major renovation of the inpatient unit at its Cheektowaga campus.
• Bristol-Meyers -
Bristol-Myers Squibb is following up its lackluster third-quarter results with almost 480 layoffs. As Pharmalot reports, the company notified the New Jersey government that it would scale back in Plainsboro, which means the cuts will hit its sales operations.
Trumbull printer- and scanning-equipment provider Oce North America, Inc. will lay off 135 workers in three Connecticut communities, including East Hartford, according to its notice with the state Labor Department.
The company, which was among those who had received an Obamacare waiver in the past, is looking to limit workers to 28 hours per week. A full time employee that is required to have health insurance (lest the employer pay a fine) works 30 hours per week, as defined by the Obamacare law.
• West Ridge Mine -
In its statement, UtahAmerican Energy blames the Obama administration for instituting policies that will close down “204 American coal-fired power plants by 2014″ and for drastically reducing the market for coal.
• United Blood Services Gulf -
United Blood Services Gulf South region, the non-profit blood service provider for much of south Louisiana and Mississippi, will lay off approximately 10 percent of its workforce. It was a hard decision to make according to Susan Begnaud, Regional Center Director for the Gulf South region.
A layoff is tough enough for employees to deal with, imagine hearing the crushing news that your office is shutting down just before Thanksgiving and Christmas… Here are some of the business closings that were announced in just the past two days:
- Caterpillar Inc. will close its plant in Owatonna Minn.
- Mount Pleasant’s Albrecht Sentry Foods
- The Target store at Manassas Mall Va.
- Millennium Academy in Wake Forest NC
- Target Closing Kissimmee FL Location

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 10:52pmWhat Luck! Obama Won Dozens of Cleveland Districts with 100% of the Vote
Posted on Thursday, November 08, 2012 9:03:39 PM by therightliveswithus
President Obama must have run a great campaign considering the tremendous numbers he put up in numerous big cities. Over in Philadelphia, he was lucky enough to get 90% percent turnout in some districts with over 99% of the vote.
In Cleveland, in some districts he did even better with an astounding 100% of the vote in dozens of locations. For example, in Cleveland’s Fifth Ward, Mr. Obama won districts E, F, and G 1,337 to Mitt Romney’s… 0. And in case you’re wondering, Gary Johnson received more votes than Mr. Romney.
Well, maybe that’s just a fluke. In the Ninth Ward, Mr. Obama won districts D-G with a paltry total of 1,740 to… 3. Hey, at least Romney got .2% of the vote!
And in case you’re wondering, Gary Johnson tied or received more votes than Mr. Romney in both of those districts.
Okay, what if we look at an entire Ward? No way this trend continues, right? An entire ward. Why not do the First Ward? Obama won that one 12,857 to… 94. This time Romney got .7% of the vote. He’s moving up in the world!
In total, there are 21 districts in Cleveland where Mr. Romney received precisely 0 votes. In 23 districts, he received precisely 1 vote.
But Ohio’s not important in the electoral college, right?

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 11:11pmI looked up one of the companies in this article with big layoffs (US Cellular) and found out the layoffs are due to selling their Chicago market to Sprint. They had bad market penetration and pulled out of that city from what I gathered. Sounded more like it was due to competitive pressure than the economy as a whole.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 12:30amObama’s Marxist plan is working. He wants to create more Government jobs, thus ensuring Government gets bigger, which will result in higher taxes in order to pay for the wages of Government employees, who will belong to leftist public unions. More people will need Government programs, as there won’t be private sector jobs for them, and they will have to rely on Government cheese to survive. Government will then be exalted and praised as our bread maker. The Government will grow in power and ensure that private property and private rights are never fully exercised by citizens, thus rising the collective about the individual. This will result in a socialist society which will have lost all sense of dependency on ones own talent and rights to survive, creating a state of perpetual bondage. The citizens will further be subjugated to a godless agenda through the use of a Marxist media, including news networks, music, movies, books, and clothing fashions. Society will break down and ultimately accept communism through consent. A few KGB and Jesuits warned us of their Masters hidden plans and we ignored them. America is doomed, and we will not be protected from above. We will be destroyed for lack of knowledge, and for our rebellion against our Creator.

I know it also doesn’t matter to you all that so much of her ideas were completely absurd so I’ll just leave with one of my favorite quotes:
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year-old’s life: “The Lord of the Rings” and “Atlas Shrugged.” One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.” – John Rogers

They want to blame Bush for all that happened when in reality it was the democrats and BHO who killed our economy. Business owners didn’t wait until BHO was sworn in to the office, before they started making preparations. Now look at the Obama stock sell offs that began right after the election! The markets will fail just as bad as they did in ’08. America forget the Christmas presents and start buying food storage, because America will go into hibernation during the next four years of the Democrats and Obama rule.

Fiscal Conservatives do not overlap with social conservatives 100% of the time. So Ayn Rand did not see eye to eye with social conservatives. Am I surprised? Shocked? No.
So Ayn Rand took Social Security. You take 7.5% to 15% of a person’s wages thru force & then expect them to not to want to get it back? Is it force? Let’s rephrase the question. Will the IRS confiscate, fine & jail you if you do not pay? Feudal Lords would invite the peasantry to Christmas dinner. where do you expect the food that the lord gave came from? If the Feudal Lord had not exacted all those taxes could not the peasants have provided for themselves?

These idiot voters don’t vote based on the economy or unemployment or the price of gas. It doesn’t matter how much pain they feel in their own lives due to obama’s policies….it doesn’t compute to them. They vote for the guy who promises to have the government provide more things in their own life. It doesn’t matter if he even provides them or not. As long as he claims he’s gonna soak the rich for their benefit and they’ll never have to pay for “xyz” again. These people WANT to be dependent. The message of independence = prosperity is something they hate….prosperity is not worth it to them if the price they have to pay is being self reliant. Half the couny WANTS to be dependent.

One was able to close immediately laying off some 51 people, the other has 62 employees but it will take him 3 months to properly divest himself of the inventory, plant, and equipment necessary to make a clean break. Posted on November 9, 2012 at 9:41amCareful about assumptions… sillyfreshness had stated it was market related for US Cellulars layoffs. I know that RIM (Blackberry) has been struggling for several years and has a seriously declining market. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went belly up in the next year or two. So many of these may have been unavoidable regardless of election outcome, which leads me to ask; how many of these waited to report numbers until after the election rather than making the decision to lay off based on the election winner?

“Before the election I posted about the companies I personally knew of who were laying off if Obama won I was told I was a liar by a liberal poster. So who’s the moron now? Libs useless and stupid.”
Liberals are ignorant, misinformed and unintelligent. But their worst failing is that they live in a fantasy land of their own making wherein the truth means nothing to them.
Since the world banking system is intertwined now into a global unity, I can almost guarantee that when the economic crisis in the EU reaches critical mass next year with austerity riots the norm, we too will see a precipitous outburst of the same here, because the fed is going to faced with the problem of cutting expenses….again…… or going under altogether.
When chaos hits and it is plain we’re imploding, these same liberal dregs will not admit their messiah is an incompetent and they were fools to vote for him. They’ll blame it on the Republicans in Congress or something else. In no way will they recognize the truth of the situation.
We need to cull the herd, since it was 39% of whites who caused Obama to win, and not 18 or 19% that represented the black/Hispaic vote, as the leftist press would have us believe.
The white population has some of the biggest fools on planet earth.

I guess you have been ignoring all the reports of businesses starting to cut back after Obama’s re-election in anticipation of insane regulations which will drive up the cost of doing business so much they have no choice. I love how you seem to think your business is representative of the market. It is not. I’m lucky enough to have a skill set that is still in need so finding a job, while harder than it was just 4 years ago, is still easier than for blue collar workers. They are based on 3rd quarter financial results and projections for future sales. And if you take the time to consider the global presence of each one of these companies you might find that it is depressed sales projections in Europe that is responsible for these short term economic decision. Or maybe it is just that Bain Capital has invested in these companies and assisting them is moving jobs to China….. you see without actual knowledge of what drove factors drove these decisions statements like yours or mikes should be seen for the Belief Entitlement they are.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 11:49amI am closing my small business (6 employees) effective December 15. It is in direct response to what I see the economy’s future after Obama’s reelection.
If you think it is revenge, then we know a) you voted for Obama and b) you don’t understand business and economics.
Of my 6 soon to be former employees, only one voted for Obama. And that one won’t get a recommendation from me…I can’t recommend stupid.
Local, federal, state governments will no longer get about $85,000 in taxes/fees/licenses that my business typically generated for them.
Businesses I purchased services and goods from will see a drop because I’m not buying anything anymore.
And just to illustrate the mindset of the Obama voter, I’m giving my employees an opportunity to buy equipment, etc. at 5% of my cost. Which one wants it “free” … yeah, the Obama voter. Won’t happen. I’ll donate the rest to Vietnam Vets or other charitable group.
Anyone who is successful will find a way to avoid any new taxes to a great deal. We aren’t stupid.
And there will be a resulting “missing predictions” by the Fed. because of all of us that have taken our toys and gone home because the Gov’t wasn’t playing nicely. You don’t play with bullies.
On the other hand, I’m going to have a lot more time to do some fun things. I’ve wanted to travel and now I will, spending money overseas instead of in the US.

Take RIM as an example. I’m surprised RIM (Research In Motion) has even made it this long with their missed opportunities with smartphone/tablet innovation and their poor application development platforms.
Anyone who thinks Obama’s reelection had anything to do with RIM’s troubles is either misinformed or simply blinded by the spin. I’m sure its probably a little bit of both.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 12:43pm@Buttpatriot, very very few, if any, businesses close or lay off people to hurt a government official. Businesses close and lay off people to help them survive financially. They take into account legislation, taxes, and regulations. Not only those that might be coming into effect in the near future (for example the ObamaCare regulations, taxes, and oppression) but those taxes, regulations, and legislation that will not be repealed as well as those that might become law or regulated in the near future. You forget that the EPA, OSHA, and a myriad of other agencies do not require a vote of the house to regulate. If you are border line in your finances, and your profit margin is small, you’ll need to eliminate costs to ensure your continuing existence. If you can have one employee do the job of two, or you are fairly certain that expansion is impossible with the expected futures, eliminating costly labor makes the best sense. This is what most of these businesses are doing. It is also why so many businesses and corporations have been sitting on unspent capital. Statists are very bad for general business (and very good for business if you are connected to a central committee member, al la Solyndra, then you can get rich without the bother of competing in a marketplace).

Obama still can’t grasp the most basic of realities…..how do you “raise revenue” when there’s fewer people working and in turn fewer taxpayers paying taxes?
Tax the rich guy? That isn’t even going to put a dent in the deficit of tax revenue let alone the deficit itself.
From the hints we’ve had already Obama believes he has a mandate to raise taxes and as things fail the more he will demagogue the GOP house in order to get the democrats to take over again in 2014 for the midterms.
Obama’s surrogates are saying that he’s willing to cut from entitlements if the GOP is willing to raise taxes.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 5:47pmThis is my first post on The Blaze, and I signed up to reply address someone who had complained about government workers. I just want to say– I am a government worker with a law enforcement position. When I stepped off a plane from my vacation on the night of Nov. 6, and found out Obama was re elected– I felt as if I had been sucker punched.
There are conservatives, even ultra conservatives working in government– and I hate to see us all get glommed together like we are all just on some “work fare” program. We are subject to what trickles from the top– and not all of us agree with what is happening to our great nation.
I watched a woman walking along with a young boy, about 9 or 10 years old, through the airport. I overheard her say: “Roe v. Wade, I didn’t want to lose that.” I was dumbfounded. First of all at due to what this implies to a male youngster who will no doubt become sexually active within the next 10 years– but second, that women would sell out their country in order to have their uterus scraped out after irresponsible sex. Do we women really have nothing better to offer our children, families, mates, society…our country?? Do we really see ourselves as having nothing better to offer than a bloody uterus? I am so happy I am not to be counted among these…
Be encouraged– there do exist, people in Federal service who do see what is happening and who do not agree with it– who vote against socialism and liberal values….that is all I wanted

Posted on November 10, 2012 at 8:21am@Detroit paperboy I never looked at it that way, with Romney promising jobs. That probably translated to the lazy percentage of our nation as, “OMGosh! Romney is going to take away all the free stuff and make us work for it!” I downloaded a free ebook about socialism. I just started it. It was written in 1906 and put out by Cornell U. The writer said that people who want socialism, think we’ll all live for free in a luxery hotel, the men will voluntarily go work in the fields singing, while the women accompany them on pianos on the veranda. They expect Utopia, and it just doesn’t work that way. Karl Marx put the idea into words, saying all money is made by laborers, so the laborers should keep all the money. Really? Let’s really make it that way, and when a company folds, let the workers lose all their money too. Let the workers take out the loan for the company, pay the payroll, etc. I suppose they should take the same risks the owners are taking.

You are most likely correct about “Lord of the Rings”. Young ones are susceptible to fantasy.
About Ayn Rand: yes, she was an Atheist. However, her non-religion had nothing to do with her points made in “Atlas Shrugged”. She looked at society and saw “Selfish-ism” under the guise of Liberalism. In fact, her book is right down the line of what’s happening to America now. The liberal agenda increased, poor got poorer (and more of them) and the elite Libs got richer; and the Big Biz folks moved away…taking jobs with them. And the country collapsed. And everybody suffered.
I believe in God/Jesus…and if I had a “Big Business” I could have a thriving business w/many employees. If I did NOT believe in God/Jesus I could have a “Big Business” and I could have a thriving business w/many employes. There is no diff due to religion or lack thereof. The difference is in people…and their drive and talent and ambition to create that big or small business.
Believers in God/Jesus have a personal relationship with their Creator. Non-believers do not have that personal relationship with their Creator. It’s as simple as that. Anybody with drive and ambition and talent can create a business.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 9:38amObama is the culmination of the work already put into place by those wishing our destruction.What led to it and him are very simple.We have been domestically overregulated and overtaxed for decades.
By overtaxing I’m talking about the whole enchilada not just federal taxes.Our school systems have been dumbed down.We have an underlying sense of despair that every generation since ww2 has percieved.In the last two decades ,though, more act on the desperation and give up.This in turn breeds more.Its a almost neverending cycle.We have companies that should have been allowed to fail.Instead we propped them up for worse destruction.We talk about the tech and housing bubble.How about we start telling the truth.Its all a bubble.In the real world you can only charge what the real market will bear.You don’t access to bailouts and loans.You have to decide if you can make a profit based on truth ,not props.If you can, then you charge what the market will bear ,not what the government will guarentee.This in itself has caused delusions that everyone everywhere can afford the high prices the government guarentees for payment.

They served their purpose and now they will be forgotten like the many others who have been jobless and given up on finding work. that it is evil conservatives and vile people of faith who will be there to offer a compassionate and helping hand.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 7:42amI hadn’t been to my allopathic doctor in so long that the office called and told me to get in there before they deleted my files. (I lost my job when zero first took office, so therefore cancelled my insurance THAT I PAID for and all appointments, screens, etc. due to NO income as I was forced to live on savings.)
So I went. The doctor visit took 45 minutes, during which the doctor spent 5 minutes looking at me and the other 40 minutes pecking away on a computer – the new electronic recordkeeping system – even though I had no medical complaints and my status had not changed.
Then she told me this would be the last time I saw her because she could see the writing on the wall. She was leaving practice because the new systems were making her work harder, paying her less, and she was able to see fewer patients because of the new demands of her time in recordkeeping. They are turning nurses into doctors and doctors into bookkeepers.
Then I was billed 200 dollars for that. I should have stayed home.

As to the IRS and HIPPA.HIPPA and the absolute secrecy in the medical field is what will be used to kill us all.HIPPA was meant as a privacy protection.Its abuse is astounding.If what I’m seeing is any indication the IRS is already aware of this and is taking steps to prevent it.They also are taking steps to force the medical profession to follow the same rules as the financial sector already does.You might not realize it, but, this is the best thing to happen since the self starter.

This nation has sanctioned 55,000,000 murders of the unborn since 1973….55 million babies sacrificed on the altar of sexual irresponsibility…..leading to a loss of morality so profound that we now view, as normal, sexual deviancy that 50 years ago were shameful abominations. Defend this if you can, but this is the CAUSE of our present decline. And the end result of our rejection of common sense and decency.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 11:32amYou can make up to four hundred dollars without having to file it.Otherwise taxes kick in.If you work for cash its a good idea to know whether you are truly being paid in cash or cashed out.In a cash out the employer pays you in cash but its declared on a 1099.Whether you owe taxes depends on whether you or the activity is taxable.You could volunteer for paid medical research.Its not usually taxable.You also can make some money off it.Pay differs as to study involved.You will be given a 1099 at the end of the year with check box 3 ticked.This indicates its non taxable.
I couldn’t tell you where to go online to find under the table work.Most people freelance in the professions they have skills in.They may talk to old employers friends family members.They aren’t trying to make a true living out of it, just extra cash.Day here or there.This is also a way to get an opening at a company sometimes.Offer to be on call and request cash till you hit the tax mark.I’ve known a couple people who have gotten jobs with a company that way.First opening they had they called them for the permanent position.
Apply at a temp company is another alternative.You have control over where and when you work.They do take out taxes though.

Hey there. I do believe I said on more than one time Romney was unelectable. The way I see it, Ron Paul would have won the same states Romney did. A baked potato would have also won those states. As for would Paul have done better? Well I believe yes. He would have given a much better challenge to Obama mainly because Ron Paul had a real plan. With Romney it was ” I am going to create 12 million jobs” and ” I created a business “. People didnt want to hear that, they wanted to here exactly what he was going to do. When pressed on those issues, Romney failed to capture the voters minds.
The the debates would have lost it for Obama. Romney never was able to really put pressure on Obama because sadly the real issues facing this country they agreed on.
1. How could Obama defend his spending record vs Ron Paul? He couldnt.
2. The FED was ignored during the debates, but had Ron Paul been there, no chance that would have been ignored.
3. Obama never had to deal with tough answers on Obamacare because of Romneycare.
4. Obama never had to be pressed on the issues of freedoms like wire tapping and the NDAA. Why? Because Romney agreed with Obama.
5. Obama never had to answer for killing a US citizen and kill lists. With Paul he would have had to answer it.
6. Romney never really attacked Obama on abortion, because his stance on abortion was so weak.
7. Obama got a pass on Libya from Romney, it wouldnt have happened with Ron Paul because,

8. The trillion dollar federal war on drugs would have been brought up. As everyone found out election night its a state issue.
9. Obama would have been pressed on his plan, on exactly what are you going to cut to balance this budget. Ron Paul’s plan was out for everyone to see.
10. Our overseas militarism would have been brought up.
11. Foreign aid would have been brought up.
12. Ron Paul inspired the youth vote. Something Romney got hammered on.
Lets also remember, Ron Paul had very little funding. He was never supported by Fox news, talk radio, or the GOP. As a matter of fact they did everything in there power to silence and keep him down. I believe wholeheartedly had Ron Paul gotten to express his views fairly and get would have gotten the ABO crowd, the libertarians, and he would have pulled away Obama people.
Romney was more of the same garbage from the right. The middle didnt want any part of it.
Lastly, is VP pick would have been awesome. Judge Andrew Napolitano!!!!!!! He would have curb stomped Biden.

Ron Paul could not convince the majority of Republican what makes you think he would have convinced Independents and Catholics, Jews, Blacks, Hispanics. Obama won because he promised free stuff .. Money from the rich and redistribute it to people who don’t see anything wrong in not working.
Obama had the media behind him and the glitzy Hollywood crowd. And look who watches the Hollywood cr$p. The zombies.
For change to come, the must be suffering which will then make people look you and say how come you doing OK. Tell them you follow Gods word, you are debt free, don’t accept handout because there usually strings attached, you willing to help if you want to help our self, etc etc .. That you do what made this country strong and prosperous.
Look what Obama did yesterday .. Told Congress to figure out how to stop us from going over the economic cliff. He is not having any input. This way it becomes congress’s fault and who do think is the escape goat on this ..The Republican, the Tea Part, and even Bush. That is what 60% plus of the citizen believe any way .. even people you think are intelligent. Obama has sold us the idea that he just has to wave his arms, smile and tell others to solve the problem. “you guys solve the problem I am off to talk to a freedom fighter in Maymar (Thailand)”.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 6:05pmMonk i have to agree with MUTUNY. I voted for Romney, as the only viable alternative to OBAMA..
But it does not make one bit of difference. Ron Paul survived this election precisely because he was not on the ballot against obama….anybody who looked like a real threat to ‘the agenda’ would have gotten Breitbarted. As will, any serious threats, in the future. Obama is “sponsored” by a supernatural, and has been groomed for the position he is in.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 10:20pmneed to add an AR to the collection. What would you go with? A 5.56 for ammo and parts availability, or 6.8 SPC for improved stopping power?

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 10:30pm@coldnorth: good luck, I visited my local FFL today and he said that there isn’t an ARe to be had from anywhere he knows. He also said the dealer he buys ammo from sold $12,000,000 to dealers in one day yesterday. Can’t even find reloading supplies, ie small pistol primers, online. Go ahead and try.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 11:38pmYou might be able to find a 6.5 Grendel based AR, the ammo is a bit harder to come by tho.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stick with the 5.56 because that’s what the military uses. The 6.8 is better for stopping power, but not as easily found. There are trillions of 5.56′s. Just make sure you get a rifle that says 5.56/.223 and not just .223 only.
Here’s a link to probably some of the best AR’s in production. http://forum.lwrci.com/viewforum.php?f=38 Sometimes you can find a deal for an A2 for under $1,900.
Expensive, but well worth it. Cheaper Than Dirt sells them at decent prices. You’ll want an M6A2 or an M6SL. Personally, I have an M6A3. Works flawlessly. 1,000 rounds fired and no failures of any kind. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemListing.aspx?mfgid=3554&catid=2144
Posted on November 8, 2012 at 9:42pmI am flying my flag at half-mast until we get leaders like Allen West that will lead according to our constitution. We had a death in America on November 7, 2012. This is for all who have fought and continue to fight for freedom in America. Join me and when people ask why you are flying your flag at half-mast, maybe, just maybe there can be intellectual conversation.
Posted on November 9, 2012 at 10:51amWe’ve really got to cast off the misnomer “Red”. It is, was, and always will be the descriptive term for communists/socialists. We’ve let the Soviet Left apply it to us and we didn’t even resist.
To be honest, I have nothing concise to take its place, at least that comes to mind easily.
Posted on November 10, 2012 at 9:18amI am truly scared to death. You can see the change in BO already. He thinks he’s invincible now! I curse all those big names who supported him. CC in NJ – you blew it big time! How dare you suck up to BO like that & practically hand the election to BO? Your blue state gets nothing from me ever again. I won’t even drive through there & pay your bridge tolls. It won’t hurt you much because I never found much reason to visit NJ anyway. It’s a crappy state. Let BO take care of you from now on. You are on your own.
Posted on November 9, 2012 at 10:14amSadly, most of the Obama voters are already unemployed and either on the government dole or on their parents’ dole. What they don’t get is now that there are fewer taxpayers (and that number will grow fewer still within two years) there will be serious discussions in the state legislatures about actually cutting giveaways, because what is extracted by the Feds from the remaining taxpayers won’t be enough to fund government overhead and the various social programs. None of these geniuses will blame Obama’s policies – they will complain about their state leadership.
