What ‘Single Policy Change’ Does Krauthammer Think Could Save the GOP in 2016?
Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer gave the Republican Party some tough love on Thursday. He told the GOP: “No whimpering. No whining. No reinvention when none is needed. Do conservatism but do it better.”
Point-by-point Krauthammer went through the various demographic advantages the Democrats were able to exploit to win the past two elections with Barack Obama as its figure-head. And, more importantly, he explained how he thinks Republicans can close the gap.
First, they dominate in regards to Hispanics, he explained. But in reality, the group really should be a reliable Republican constituency as they tend to be hard-working, religious and socially conservative on issues like abortion.
So, here is Krauthammer’s shock solution:
“The problem is hardly structural. It requires but a single policy change: Border fence plus amnesty. Yes, amnesty. Use the word. Shock and awe — full legal normalization (just short of citizenship) in return for full border enforcement.”
[…]
“Imagine Marco Rubio advancing such a policy on the road to 2016. It would transform the landscape. He’d win the Hispanic vote. Yes, win it. A problem fixable with a single policy initiative is not structural. It is solvable.”
Republicans also trail continually — and drastically — among blacks, young people and unmarried women. “But this is not for reasons of culture, identity or even affinity. It is because these constituencies tend to be more politically liberal — and Republicans are the conservative party,” Krauthammer writes.
He continued: “The country doesn’t need two liberal parties. Yes, Republicans need to weed out candidates who talk like morons about rape. But this doesn’t mean the country needs two pro-choice parties either. In fact, more women are pro-life than are pro-choice. The problem here for Republicans is not policy but delicacy — speaking about culturally sensitive and philosophically complex issues with reflection and prudence.”
In other words, there is no need for radical change within the Republican party, despite claims to the contrary by the Left and the mainstream media. The solution is to do conservatism “better.”
So that brings us to his final point, something he urges Republicans to embrace: “No whimpering. No whining. No reinvention when none is needed. Do conservatism but do it better. There’s a whole generation of leaders ready to do just that.”

Simple in style but so strong in context-

Every home should have this book, every living being should read it

ALL politicians need a copy.
The little boy befriends a tree.
The very unselfish tree gives everything it has to the very selfish, wanting child-

GIVING…kinda’ like America-
SELFISH & wanting…kinda’ like the drips & drags on American society.
More, more, gimee more & then go get me some more.
For all those fraud-takers & freeloaders,
who choose to endlessly use & abuse it,
there should be an attachment to living off the hard-working taxpayers’ dollar.
Any capable person who has a record of 2 years or more
on the dole should NOT have the glory or privilege to vote.
THAT accomplishes TWO initiatives-
if prohibits them from casting a vote for an “entitlement” prez, like Obama
& it nips the notion in the bud,
that ANY candidate can court the clueless, non-productive, work-less force
& skate to victory by promising to
feather the freeloading lifestyle of the ilk
& billing the rest of the us for their sheer laziness.
Let’s put these grifters to the test-
choose to be productive & vote
or stay a societal drag…but NOT both !

Let me enlighten the group here and give you a non-ideological and accurate answer to what has to change. Your obsession with Belief Entitlement. Specifically the notion that beliefs are black and white, right or wrong, conservative or liberal and can’t possible exist on a continuum. And clearly an individual can’t possibly hold conservative and moderate views at the same time. It is the ignorance of the republican party regarding social complexity and beliefs that is costing you the independent vote. Particular how this ignorance is demonstrated and promoted by GB, Rush, Ann Coulter and the more outspoken morons in the party (Aikin, Murdoch, Bachmann, O’Donnell, Palin, etc.) These individuals drove away more votes than even Romney’s incessant lying did. For example, as a rational independent I am pro-reproductive rights, not pro abortion or pro-life. Given the scientific evidence and technology i would accept the first trimester as defined in Roe v. Wade being shortened. I would also accept a ban on partial birth abortions and make it a criminal act. But i would never support a candidate that would limit the fundamental freedom, liberty or right of self determination of any american, particularly on religious grounds. For the simple truth is that, despite GB BS regarding the foundinig fathers, they held these things as much more important than christian beliefs.

The Blaze needs to create section of the website for common sense solutions. Each week we vote on a problem to tackle and then propose common sense solutions. At the end of the week we take the best ideas and then flood the airwaves, media, blogs and government with those solutions.
Our collective voice can make a difference.
Here is one example.
We need to simply our tax code.
One solution is to require EVERY federally elected official to fill out their taxes by hand, with no outside help, in front of c-span cameras.
Each of their returns would be audited by the IRS.
Then each year on April 15th they would be handed the results of the audit. This would be done on C-Span so the whole nation can watch the expressions on their faces as they open the results.
If they over or under paid their taxes, they would be fined 10 times the amount they were mistaken by.
The entertainment value alone should make this worth pursuing.
I guarantee that within a year two at most our elected officials would find a way to compromise and simplify our tax code so that even they can understand it.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2956951/posts
We need to go back to paper ballots that are marked in ink and require ID and a signature (Rather than a checkmark) I would include a time and date stamp at this time and then a receipt with a time and date stamp when the ballot goes into the machine. this will allow a separate system that must agree. I would also include the purple finger ink that worked in Iraq. If it works in a war zone like that it should work somewhere like Cleveland.
I would also require a chain of custody on each locked bag of ballots and anyone with access to that bag is required to sign that chain of custody.
If there are any irregularities in the ballots that are covered by the chain of custody everyone on that chain are to be tried and executed. This MAY offer incentive over voting yourself a pay raise to run a clean election.

There are not enough Libertarians today to EVER successfully elect a president but there certainly are enough to erode the conservative base (such as it is) just enough to cause the liberal (and we DO know what that is) to win. Several other factors were in play, but yours was certainly causal to our loss. And look at what you have done!
Paul did not let you down by losing the primary; he let you down when he refused to throw his support to the conservative winner after he did lose – Romney. Paul wanted his trophy. 1. Legalize Marijuana. It creates a safer border, creates tax revenue, keeps more people out of jail.
2. End the Wars. Keep training, investing in R&D but stop wasting money and lives overseas.
3. Offer solutions for Green Energy. Instead of using taxpayer monies on investments, use them as rewards. Let a winning company be tax free for 10 years or win a huge reward.
4. Yes, Amnesty. Only after the border is completely secure.
5. Be a fiscal T-Rex. Make the bold cuts and don’t be afraid to explain it will work. Just like ending the dept. of education. Local is better than national.
6. Leave abortion alone. Yep, leave it the way it is. Let people choose and live with their decision.
7. Leave religion out of it. Many liberals are turned off by the constant references to God.
8. Stop complaining about the takers, get them to fight for fiscal sanity and jobs.
I know many Republicans didn’t like Paul because of his jerk-weed followers but he just about all liberals I know actually considered voting for him if he was the nominee. NOBODY was going to vote for Romney.

One answer is to learn how to “sell” conservatism as a great, proven phylosophy. It works better than any other systems on Earth. We need more of our own indoctrinators in the loop. If you believe in it, preach it and teach it. Bring it to the elementary school levels. That is where the indoctrination begins.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 2:10amOne widely-held erroneous belief about the immigration debate is the idea that EVERYONE born in the U.S. is a citizen by birth. Nope. The 14th Amendment does not say that. Also, the lead Supreme Court case on the subject (U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898)) clearly limits birthright citizens to those born of “aliens in amity” (page 655) so that the holding in the case was limited to the facts presented where Wong Kim Ark was born of parents living in the United States WITH THE PERMISSION of the federal government.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 7:46amIn Miami/Fort Lauderdale areas, the Cuban vote was about 70% Romney. Non-Cuban Hispanics were 70% Obama. Not a surprise that those who fled communism for a better life voted so strongly against it here. When I lived in that area of FL, I can tell you that every Cuban I ever met wanted to be successful, wanted to have a good life and were not afraid to work hard to get it. I don’t agree with amnesty but I do agree that most Hispanics do have conservative values and the Republicans need to articulate their platform in a more effective way to them. Mexicans and other non-Cuban Hispanics are being sold snake oil by the Libs/Dems, told they can have the American Dream through handouts rather than hard work. Their marketing machine, backed by MSNBC, CBS, etc have done a much more effective job selling their product.

Posted on November 10, 2012 at 10:19pm@Paperpushermj- no, Hispanics are NOT natural Republicans. That has been proven to be a conservative myth. Unless you were living under a rock this past week, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Dennis Prager, et al, were citing a recent study that shows the majority of them vote based on who gives the best handouts. I used to believe the myth as well as it was repeated so often. Republicans have more Hispanics in elected office at all levels than the Dems do and yet the Hispanic vote still overwhelmingly goes to the Dems. How’s that for gratitude? The same study showed they’re not as conservative, especially the younger ones, as we’d been told either.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 12:15amIf Republicans even think about amnesty, there should be some conditions attached; such as, no welfare, no food stamps, no free Obama phones, no Medicaid, no help with housing, etc. Also, you’re all signed-up for Obamacare, meaning no wavers.
If they do this, you’ll see the majority of illegals self deport. Once that happens, then consider a work program like Canada has. Canada picks you up at the airport, you have to live in designated areas and when the work is over, they put you on a plane back to your home.

We may let some neighbors come into our home and play with our kids and help if they were hungry but once these started 2 hurt one of us or take advantage of us…we as parents or adults would close and lock the gates until an agreement could be reached for the safety of our family. It is not complicated…we would continue 2 try 2 help the neighbors if they needed something and would help them establish their own homes but once we realized that our family was in jeopardy…we would lock the gates until the adults reached an agreement of rules.

We at the core are Republicans at heart but when we hear ridiculous comments about the forty-seven percent and everyone who votes for BO just wants stuff; we take offense to that. Many of us are highly educated and never received a dime from the government and have too much pride to accept it anyways. I personally hate the socialist innuendos of the Democratic party but and Allen West is my favorite but we must have a balance. Immigration is a big problem and it makes my stomach turn to witness so many Hispanics getting all the free medical care, food and housing when my ancestors helped build this country. We must work harder than most to achieve anything in America. We really are not a threat just want equality.
