‘Whatever’: Fox’s Shep Smith Can’t Contain Frustration While Talking About ‘Fiscal Cliff’
Fox News’ Shep Smith during a Wednesday broadcast had a mini-meltdown while discussing the impending “fiscal cliff” with Democratic campaign consultant John Rowley and Republican strategist Cheri Jacobus.
They started by discussing House Majority Leader John Boehner’s offer yesterday to find common ground with the president so as to avoid going over the “fiscal cliff.”
“I’m not really sure what we heard from the speaker,” said Rowley, “frankly, he spoke in such an elliptical way that this could be the beginning of a new era of bipartisanship or it could be he’s exactly the same place he was when he walked away from the table a year ago.”
Just to be clear, Speaker Boehner saying he’d consider tax increases only “under the right conditions” is nothing new. In fact, as TheBlaze noted yesterday, the Majority Leader has openly stated this on numerous occasions.
“There’s nothing in that speech that indicated gridlock,” Jacobus interjected. “He’s talking about closing some loopholes … that’s going to hurt a lot of people on the right. But both sides are going to have to compromise, the president is going to have to compromise on entitlement reform, and he’s going to have to take very seriously the fact that half the country – probably more than half the country – is not with him on raising the tax rates.”
This is the point where Shep Smith becomes exasperated (to put it politely):
Watch the discussion [via Fox News]:
“Everybody needs to [reach across the aisle]. You’re right, Cherri. You couldn’t be righter. You know, I don’t mean to get riled up, but it’s serious, isn’t it Cherri?” a slightly calmer Smith asked.
“It’s very serious,” the Republican strategist responded.
“Nobody wants their loophole cut out, nobody wants to pay more,” Smith said in reference to the fact that House Republicans might agree to a deal involving just that.
“And we don’t want class warfare either,” Jacobus continued, “and if we start hearing that language again from the president, you know, he’s going to lose a lot of people.”
“Class warfare … c’mon, now,” a tired-looking Smith muttered. “Whatever.”

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 3:57pmHey Doomy,
Actually, the real debt is somewhere around 200T. If you take the national debt plus state and local plus the unfunded liabilities of Medicare, Medicaid and SS. Unfortunately Obamacare is a little hard to quantify at this point.
I’d also add that during the Obama first term for every dollar of incremental GDP (around 900B and change) that we added $5.60 in debt. That is astronomical inverse leverage. Unfortunately 51% of the voting American public can’t understand this.

It is time for all to understand, The United States of America is no longer a Republic. It is a Kingdom. We have a King. There will no longer be any voting of the little people to decide who and how the government will conduct business. As far as a budget, the government, KING, obama, owns ALL the money that is produced and generated in the country. The KING alone will decide how it is to be distributed to and among the little people.
The Sooner you little people realize this the better you will be. If you hang on to that silly Republic democracy idea, the killings in the streets will begin.

Politically that’s wonderful and would essentially evaporate the democrat party…but for love of country and the American people, they cannot be subjected to that kind of pain and humiliation. Someone has to do the right thing.
We saw with this election that the electorate doens’t understand what’s at stake. I blame the media for it…Obama’s been protected and sheltered by them and they’ve attacked his opposition relentlessly. John Boehner will be their new target for the next 2 to 4 years (depending on mid-term results). But when you know Obama’s policies will lead to disaster you can’t cynically allow every policy he wants passed with the knowledge of the pain it will inflict on Americans. You just can’t.

Social Security is nothing more than an insurance program that you pay a hefty premium for every time you get paid. It has turned out to be a ponzi scheme that was raided long ago by Clinton and others, and never paid back. It was supposively supposed to go into a “Locked box”, but guess what? – the criminal politicians stole the money and wasted it.

What neither wanted was the responsibilities of what used to be considered being an adult in this country. They didn’t really want equality, they wanted the sugar daddy government to take over the financial and legal responsibilities to be their daddies and replace the function of husbands as “head of household”. The absolute height of hypocrisy. They can’t handle true equality. So now we live in a socialist country. The communists are very happy.

A prophecy, January 23, 1987: No one nation can support the world, unless the world is willing to support itself. No one nation can keep a third of the world from starving to death unless these people are willing to [fend] for themselves. It was written that these things would happen, that famine would strike a third of the Earth. And so it has come.
For you who say, “Where else has this began,” this has begun. It is all around you.
But we would also say unto you when a child in this nation, when you have not one child that goes to bed hungry at night, when you have not one child who needs [your] care, then, and only then, should you pick up another nation. There will be those who say what we say and have said is wrong. But unless you strengthen your own nation and build your own foundation, the nation that you have built “under one God” shall fall.

This would reduce the corruption and greed with our elected officials. And, I would also add, no life-long Cadillac healthcare or pensions after stepping down.
I also like the idea of putting limitations on campaign time and money, which makes sense. This idea of taking a year off as the elected official to run for office is ridiculous!

We could all imagine what the characteristics of this newly discovered element “Hopium” might be….we would surely agree that it is an element that is fleeting in existence & only a transitional element between two poisonous & no doubt radioactive ones….we can also imagine that it affects certain parts of the human brain in ways that have yet to be explained either financially or literally. Perhaps…like Madame Curie did with Radium..the purveyors of “Hopium” will make toothpaste out of it to increase the intensity of ones smile….perhaps it will be introduced into Wheaties & Dinty Moore Beef Stew..perhaps Wendy’s & Arbies will have “Hopium” burgers & sandwiches for sale soon. And then the terrible truth will suddenly be revealed but far too late for the latte crowd & the generally uninformed “hopium” loving electorate & crowd. What they thought was the answer to all their personal problems was instead a malignant poison…and tumors crop up like ants on a spit out peppermint lifesaver on the sidewalk.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 2:47pmNice, the wonderfully productive “cut off my nose to spite my face” strategy. I have tripled my business in the last 4 years and plan on doubling in the next 4 years – from 100 to 200 and open at least one new office. I have no problem with my Republican lead competitors closing their doors, all the more pie for me.

When the depression hits your ‘business’ won’t be around you fool, keep supporting big government and watch it collapse because it’s coming and I personally think it’ll be great,we’ll get to purge parasites from our society so we can move FORWARD.

Let me guess….do you have a Lincoln town car with a light up hood ornament and you drive around blasting the themes from Superfly and Shaft all evening? Yeah I said it…..and what choo gone do about it? Go put on some of Obama’s favorite Jay-Z tunes and fire up a blunt…..and then come back and post a link on this forum of a snapshot of your most recent pension plan balance. What a lying clown you really are. A bold faced liar…..show us all your Form 5500 and block out the Tax ID number…..thats right…you don’t even know what 5500 form is. What a pile of steaming cow manure you are.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 2:21pmWant to know where we are headed? Pay attention to Europe. Where Europe goes, we follow. We do not learn from our own or other’s mistakes. We can see the cliff but will not give up ANYTHING to avoid going over it. And the whole time these clowns want to argue politics. Politics means nothing when it all comes crashing down. Then you will have another kind of politics – anarchy. No sane person wants anarchy.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 2:17pmI love how neither campaign or the media talked about the fiscal cliff during the election. All they talked about was who is going to lower taxes. But the real question should have been, “who is going to not let the current tax cuts expire”.
There will be no tax cuts because we currently have two temporary tax cuts and it will be nearly impossible to keep both of them without raising the deficit. If we had a real election, we would have found out what both candidates want to do about fiscal cliff. Romney going around saying that he would lower tax rates by 20% across the board was a pure fantasy.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 2:37pmTaxes increases are never used to service the debt, they only inspire more spending. Go ahead. Raise them. Start taxing wealth instead of income. Full speed “Forward”. Think of all the revenue created when you start taxing plant and equipment at Net Present Value.

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 2:31pmI agree. Baynoyereere… will fold, taxes will go up, the debt limit will be raised, and we will drive over that cliff at supersonic speed.
Then when all the govt dependent losers can’t feed their families, the big cities will burn as rioters and looters have their way. Unfortunately a lot of people, MOSTLY POOR OBAMA VOTERS, will be killed.
Well, this is the way of liberalism. They always end up destroying the lives of the people they claim they are trying to help.

I told my wife , can you believe it, this ever smiling tart Kelly clearly looks like she is having fun. She could care what she was hosting, a morning show, or an election. Its all the same to her. All smiles and jokes on Fox as our country goes down the drain. Well goodbye Fox. Hello real people, on the Blaze.

Then I would consider paying more…..

Do away with the numerous alphabet agencies of the Federal government and only keep those that are vital to the running of this country and for those that are left, cut their budget by 25% and hold them to that budget.
Sorry but it’s going to hurt to get the $16 million trillion debt down.
