Posted on November 9, 2012 at 1:15pmPeople are divided on when the unborn become humanity.I understand and respect there are many who are certain humanity begins at conception.Or at least by the 2nd trimester.I understand and respect those who will stand as advocates for he most basic human right,Life, for the unborn.IMO,those who have the opposing point of view should at least recognize this position deserves respect.I can also understand and respect that tif a woman is going to have an abortion,it should be a safe and legal one. All a warmup for thispoint:Regardless of what they hold dear and believe, the statements of Mourdock and Akin IMO,when twisted in with the “war on women
‘ campaign, likely tipped the 2 or 3% that lost states one at a time. The GOP needs a Mission Statement and a narrow, conscise platform.Individual GOP leaders can chamion social agenda projects by trying to begin with a bi-partisan effort. No partial faction of the GOP will ever overturn Roe v Wade. So,no matter how noble the effort may be,the GOP needs to remove the issue from the platform.Republicans vcan still build a coalition,or a caucus.IMO,many women are themselves pro-life and would not have an abortion, but they will not take the position of telling other women they cannot.A strong anti- abortion stance, such as Akins or Mourdock’s,runs their votes off.I do support Akin and Mourdock having their own beliefs, but do they believe it best Obama is in the White House 4 more years? There is a time and place for everything.

Posted on November 10, 2012 at 12:19amThe issue on abortion should not be held at the federal level. You cannot change a persons viewpoint on this subject as it is a Liberty subject. On one hand, right to life says that life begins at conception and the fetus has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. On the other side, pro-choice, the argument is on the liberty right of the woman to choose. Who’s Liberty do we take away? I say that Liberty is an individual decision and right, therefore let the individual decide, as it says in the bible, judge not lest ye be judged. Everyone will be judged individually after death, so why should we be the judge here. I say overturn Roe vs. Wade, leave the issue to the states, therefore, more freedom. If we look to freedom as the answer, it should make everything easier to figure out. If a state says no to abortion and someone believes it is the right of a woman to have one, they can move to a state that makes it legal. Problem solved. If we were to get back to the Constitution in the manner our founders envisioned it, we could get rid of the petty problems that the federal government creates by ignoring the Constitution by enacting laws that are opposite of what the Constitution says. We should have nominated Ron Paul as he understands the Constitution more than any of our elected officials we have today. He is totally pro-life and believes in life at conception, but also believes the states have more power than the federal government on these issues.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 1:05pmAnalogy with Braveheart (not a perfect one, obviously):
The Republicans who refused to vote this past Tuesday are holding the same position as Robert the Bruce at the last big battle that William Wallace led. They left those of us who went to battle at the polls out there to bleed. They want the election on their terms ONLY and to hell with saving what we can, incrementally.
I’d rather discuss what we can do realistically as a result of this disastrous election.

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 12:51pmI respect a Church right to its beliefs and traditions.A person can choose another Church that fits. But,Athiests can get married and Churches do not perform divorces. They are a civil matter.I’m straight, but as gays have had the courage to come out,we know them as our friends, family, loved ones.I talk to a lot of young folks. They percieve the GOP as anti-gay.They will never vote for that GOP over their friends .
I think it is time to just accept gays as human beings, living as God made them, and lose this barrier to young folks voting for the Constitution to govern this great Nation

Posted on November 9, 2012 at 12:43pmAs mfg jobs left, housing industry fueled Bush prosperity.Building homes and schools. But we do not make so many babies..Who will fill the empty old houses and schools?Illegal immigration is backfill.Think of the Chinese ghost cities. The immigration wave keeps older schools open.Keeps teachers working, and, you need interpeters and special programs ,etc.It grows the education industry.More union dues.An emotion charged reason to raise property taxes.Old folks on fixed incomes are driven frm their paid off homes…
