Busted: Jesse Jackson Jr Faces Jail Time And Resignation in Plea Deal

Jesse Jackson Jr. may have won reelection last Tuesday, but don’t expect him to finish (or possibly even start) his new term. The Illinois Democrat is currently facing charges for misuse of campaign funds, and apparently trying to cut a deal with his federal accusers. And while details on that deal are sketchy, it is considered near certain that Jackson will have to resign, pay back the money he embezzled and possibly serve time in jail – a far cry from the House of Representatives.

The Huffington Post reports on Jackson’s troubles, via CBS News:

CBS Chicago reported Saturday that veteran criminal defense attorney and former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb is negotiating a deal that tentatively includesthe congressman pleading guilty to misusing campaign funds, resigning for health reasons, repaying any campaign contributions that went toward personal expenditures and — almost inevitably — some jail time.

The negotiations are expected to be wrapped up by the year’s end, according to CBS. [...]

Members of Chicago’s City Council, of which Jackson’s wife Sandi Jackson is a member, criticized the congressman after news of the reported plea deal went public.

“To slap us in the face now, you just lied to us. You just lied to us.Β I feel so betrayed,” Ald. Carrie Austin (34th) told NBC Chicago last week.

Ald. Deborah Graham (29th) told the Sun-TimesΒ she is “heartbroken” for SandiΒ amid the controversy.

“It’s a terrible time for her and her children,” Graham told the newspaper.

Jackson’s misfortunes began earlier this year when it was uncovered that he spent official campaign funds on a $40,000 Rolex watch for a female friend and the decorating of his Washington, D.C. home.Β  Since then a mental health-centered saga has begun, revealing Jackson to suffer from sever bipolarity, checking himself in and out of the Mayo Clinic for treatment with increasing regularity.

I am sure the “informed voting block” cares.
That poor young man from the inner city tasted the sin of extortion, and fell from grace.
He deserves his salary and his Congressional Health Care for the rest of his life.

Another life lesson learned from the Obama Administration and the “me first” ” Obamaphone” sector of the gallery.

Ok, I found the l link to Rep. Ileana Ross L. But what I understood her to say it that the Tea Party did help the GOP by ‘waking people up” . She says the ‘establishment’ needed a change which is what they did 2010. But as for Rush Limbaugh she says he and Bill O’ Reilly are ‘entertainers’ that rouse their audience , however they are not the GOP heads. They are too extreme ,radical to the right than she is…so actually she is the moderate equivalent to John McCain or Lindsey Graham. She wants to pander to the hispanics and younger crowd by saying Obama showed up on Letterman, the View , MTV and other ‘hip’ media . And that’s why he won the election. I say no pandering to any group!

Now remember, since he has already been elected and then steps down, the governor can appoint a replacement until the next election…
Here is the key, Pat Quinn (D-Illinois Governor) started his career in Chicago.
      From his website ( http://www2.illinois.gov/gov/Pages/AbouttheGovernor.aspx) :

Quinn has served the people of Illinois for more than 30 years as both a citizen and a public official. He has organized grassroots petition drives signed by more than 4 million voters, walked across the state in support of decent health care for all, and proposed historic tax reform for working families. He was elected Lieutenant Governor in 2002 and re-elected in 2006, serving until his succession as Governor in January 2009, and served one term as State Treasurer from 1991 to 1995. He also served as commissioner of the Cook County Board of (Property) Tax Appeals and as revenue director for the City of Chicago.

As Lieutenant Governor, Quinn created the Illinois Military Family Relief Act, which provides financial assistance to families of Illinois National Guard members and reservists called to active duty. The fund has distributed more than $10 million to Illinois military families.

Quinn was born in Chicago and raised in Hinsdale and graduated from Northwestern University School of Law and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.

Chicago Tribune – 15JUL2012 – Prosecutors alleged that in Blagojevich’s attempt to sell Obama’s Senate seat, longtime Jackson friend and businessman Raghuveer Nayak was prepared to raise up to $6 million in campaign donations if the then-governor named the congressman to the post. Nayak also paid for airfare for a female social acquaintance of Jackson’s to fly to Chicago, Jackson has acknowledged. Blagojevich was telling the truth, as I remember that he “was not going down alone”, and yet he is the only one in prison over this !

Alcee Hastings, Jesse Jackson I & II, Charlie Rangel, Marion Barry, et. al all seem to demonstrate the tribalistic mentality and sociopathic culture that threatens to keep Africa forever a third world country, impoverished of civilized conduct. When blacks were selling black slaves to the white traders they were also inadvertently exporting their worldview of human life to the west. We are now living the consequences of the blackification of America. Consider the rap lyrics representative of a black mentality that demeans and degrades both men and women; of the ‘urban culture’ that has destroyed American inner cities like Detroit, Miami’s infamous Little Haiti and Overtown, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Oakland, CA. The same destructive nature is true of my Mexican brothers in Tijuana, Nogales, and Ciudad Juarez that wish to import their culture of corruption and tribalism into the American southwest while at the same time ironically trying to escape the death and violence that is endemic to that very culture of moral corruption. These cultural cancers have metastisized beyond Stage IV within our borders in the name of ‘diversity,’ and America is a ‘dead country walking’ because of tribal diversity and a fatalistic mentality that was allowed to fester unchecked. The references contained in the Comments section of this link are worth reading: http://new-possibilities.blogspot.com/2010/11/are-black-politicians-more-corrupt-than.html.

Here’s the problem: the people that voted for him did so because of what he promised to do for them and quite possibly because of his race, I’m not familiar with Chicago’s 2nd district demographics. But the mentality of people towards politicians and government is “what have you done for me lately?” Until that thought process is turned around into a stay out of my life mentality this will continue and Washington will never be purged of the cesspool it’s become.

I pray that one of these days the black people of America wake up to their uncle tom slave drivers. These so called civil rights leaders embezzle money for themselves while keeping the poor in the chains of poverty. They could put efforts into bringing jobs into the area for their people but instead all they get them are more welfare benefits. They are corrupt and bring shame on the community. I’ll bet that city council was on the take as well. Their leaders all have the same skin color but the people are still dealing with the same poverty and crime they have always had.

Not only that, we have the most corrupt Secretary of State…Straight from the ranks of Soros and a Communist Union Organizer by the name of Mark Froemke connected to both of our Senators. I have NO REPRESENATION. I e-mail them….nothing…nothing… Plus my Congressman is Keith Ellison. YIKES…i live in political hell. I HATE Minnesota politics..It is worse than Wisconsin was before Scott Walker. Minnesota used to be a great place to live. I grew up here and I watched everyone move here from everywhere else and the State took in every refugee it could get. If people would MELT Together fine, but it’s too corrupt and a huge welfare state. All I can say about Jackson Jr. is you can run, but you cannot hide…because no matter where YOU go there YOU are. Lie, Cheat and Steal…live with it until you face your sins and repent. Hope you can forgive yourself, the guilt must be crushing. People who are given so much opportunity and promise should humbly serve others with a greatful spirit and thanksgiving to God..that is the only way to true peace inside and out. I wish him well after his hell. May all sinners find the Light and give Glory to God.

Don’t feel like the lone stranger…I have been feeling this way for a long time… Isn’t JJJr from Chicago? That’s just how they do it there… WTF is your problem??? If its not JJJr handing out OPP its some other Democrat…. Like you think there is a chance that a Republican might win that seat??? You must be on some damn good crack if you do!!! You couldn’t get a half assed conservative Democrat elected there… No sir… They gots their rights to vote and they have certain expectations from the people they go out of their way (off the couch and hang up their Obama phone) to vote for…

I moved from Chicago to North Carolina, at least I am in the red zone now. I don’t miss Chicago politics for anything, except I have to deal with it from the butt head in the white house!

More Chicago sewer rats. What a filthy corrupt area of the country that has produced some of the most despicable people. I don’t think I need to give names.

Well they’re all crooked. He was just dumb enough to get caught. I really don’t know why they need to embezzle campaign funds when there is an army of lobbyists waiting to buy his votes.

@Sharkee – same here in CA, With the state gov’t giving illegal aliens sanctuary, welfare, drivers’ licenses, right to vote and not enforcing the laws they break, it is impossible to defeat them. They are quickly bought and paid for and WE GET THE BILL! I am fed up.

Ya, you should also read about the Chicago “job fair” that 3000 showed up and waited four hours in line only to be told that they need to apply on line..

HEY CHICAGO! I bet that that hope and change is feeling pretty darn good about now!……
