President Obama Honors the Sacrifice of U.S. Veterans: ‘We Take Care of Our Own’

President Barack Obama paid tribute at a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery Sunday to “the heroes over the generations who have served this country of ours with distinction.”

Speaking at the Memorial Amphitheater, the president said that “no ceremony or parade, no hug or handshake is enough to truly honor” their service, but that we must commit to serving them as they’ve served us.

He said the wreath he laid earlier at Tomb of the Unknowns was intended to remember every service member who has worn a uniform for our nation.

“You’ve toppled a dictator and battled an insurgency in Iraq. You pushed back the Taliban and decimated al-Qaida in Afghanistan,” Obama told the vets. “You delivered justice to Osama bin Laden.”

The remarks came after Obama praised the 9/11 generation’s contribution to the United States. Stepping forward after the Twin Towers fell, he said they have “stepped into history, writing one of the greatest chapters in military service our country has ever known.”

Obama also spoke of how his domestic policy relates to veterans, reminding that three years ago he promised they would be welcomed home to a country that fights for them as they have fought for us.

“So long as I have the honor of serving as your commander-in-chief,” he added, “that is the promise that we will never stop working to keep.”

Saying that “no one who fights for this country overseas should ever have to fight for a job, or a roof over their head,” President Obama proceeded to attack inefficient government bureaucracy.

“No veteran should have to wait months, or years, for the benefits that you’ve earned, so we will continue to attack the claims backlog, we won’t let up,” he said strongly.

When his statement was greeted with a hesitant applause, Obama repeated, “We will not let up.”

After discussing new benefits for veterans, Obama said: “That’s what we do in America. We take care of our own. We take care of our veterans. We take care of your families, not just by saluting you on one day once a year, but by fighting for you and your families every day, every year.”

President Obama concluded his solemn speech:

“We carry on knowing that our best days always lie ahead. On this day we thank all of our veterans from all of our wars, not just for your service to this country, but for reminding us why America is, and always will be, the greatest nation on Earth. God bless you, God bless our veterans, God bless our men and women in uniform, and God bless these United States of America. Thank you very much.”

  When the president says “we take care of our own,” he is referring to the warehouse full of body bags in which we can ship our troops back home. Surely, the man in charge of Benghazi doesn’t mean that we actually save the lives of or avenge the deaths of Americans. Right? Surely, he wouldn’t have the nerve to make a claim like that now… right?

  The fact that a sewer rat from Chicago could stand there and make proclamations like “We take care of our own” just makes me want to vomit. Was he taking care of his own when he left those four men to die in Benghazi?

  He is honoring our dead and returning warriors, as he should. As we all should – every single day. America has lost about 7,000 men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 30,000 are wounded.   Oh and two helicopters filled with Navy Seals many of whom were there in the raid on OBL and the burial at sea.

  This man we have to call our President HATES and I will repeat HATES our military. I have a family member who is in the reserves and he was working at a local military airport near his home. He went in to work and came home an hour later. His father asked him why he’s home already. He said, The President is coming in and all military personnel need to leave because the President doesn’t like seeing any of them. My personal opinion was that he did not like them but to find out from a close family member that it indeed is true really hit home. His commander is the one who told him the exact reason. NO LIE here folks – So this display is just an ACT – he DOES NOT CARE for our MEN and WOMEN that defend our country. This is TRULY disgusting

I don’t think Romney won the nomination fairly either and I’d venture to guess that Gary Johnson and the Libertarians won more then 1% of the popular vote too. I don’t think anyone will look into it because both parties are too dirty to want to cede their monopoly on the political process. The Rothchilds and Rockefellers own: every countries central bank except for 5 and they have been involved in every war since 1800. They also own Reuters, AP and BBC so, not only do they control the money supply they control all the information. The 5 countries left without central banks are: Libya, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and N. Korea. At the time of the article he stated he thought Libya would be next. So I figure Soros and every government on the planet works for them except the 5 remaining countries. As a Vietnam veteran I salute all our courageous heroes that serve this great nation today. My sorrow is that they serve under a lying, coward commander in chief. What does he mean we stepped up when the towers fell, we take care of our own. Who does he think will believe this crap? The families ofi the soldiers killed in Afghans? The parents of those murdered in Libya after his order to them to stand down? Americans don’t stand down in the face of the enemy. They fight to save their brothers-in-arms. President Obama, there is a special place being reserved for you. Get your golf playing and fancy vacations done. You are a disgrace to all Americans, but most of all to American fighting men.

  I will not let my disdain for Obama to take my focus off the reason for this day. While my thoughts are private about the men I served with, I will never forget them. I will be talking with my son tonight. He is on his 4th deployment currently in Afghanistan.
  
  In particular, I daily remember a soldier I never knew.
  
  MSG Russell Peter “Pete” Bott, 1st Special Forces Group, Detachment B-52, Recon Team Viper, MIA, Laos, 2 December 1966. MSG Bott stayed behind to provide care to SFC Willie Stark. There were two live sightings of MSG Bott but none for SFC Stark. MSG Bott went MIA when I was a freshman in college.

  He is our president and the commander in chief of all of our armed forces. Those of you who cannot stand to see OUR president honor the dead and serving armed forces who are responsible for all our freedoms should be ashamed of yourselves. I did not vote for him, but at least I respect my country enough on Veterans Day to respect our commander in chief.

But don’t worry, Obamao will give your buddies who put their lives on the line repeatedly to try and save you a medal. Of course the officers following the Obamao ROE won’t face charges for getting you killed, they might not want to be around when your buddies get back with your corpses though.   WE, the military and veterans, do not leave people behind. And Obama is NOT my Commander in Chief. I will never recognize him as such. He may be President, but he is NOT my Commander in Chief. He did this for the photo op. He no more cares for the military than the man in the moon. If you are retired military and want to keep a child on your insurance after they turn 21, you have to pay $200 A MONTH extra. Yes, that’s $2,400 extra a year. So much for free insurance, huh?
