Why Are So Many Deer Jumping 120 Feet to Their Deaths Off This Idaho Bridge?

One animal acting strangely can be puzzling — like the moose walking in tight circles in a Vermont backyard in September — but hundreds of animals committing suicide can be downright alarming. Take the hundreds of deer jumping off an Idaho bridge.

KBOI 2 reported that from High Bridge on Highway 21 east of Boise several drivers have reported seeing deer make a flying leap to their deaths. Even wildlife officials have seen it themselves.

“I’ve seen it myself and some of our staff have seen it too,” Evin Oneale, big game manager for the Idaho Fish and Game Department, said according to KBOI 2.

Oneale believes the deer become scared by oncoming vehicles, assume the jump over the bridge’s railing will lead to solid ground on the other side and find out differently when it’s too late.

“They jump over what they think is just into the barrow pit, but it’s a 120-foot fall to the river below,” Oneale said.

For this reason, the wildlife department with the DOT built an underpass in 2010, which KBOI 2 reports officials saying has been successful. But the area is encouraging motorists to drive slowly over the bridge where the skittish animals might still be crossing.

  PETA will now ask Obama for billions to fund the Four-eye Foundation for Fury Friends. It will fit every deer with a pair of glasses so this does not happen again. It will be apart of Obamacare.   It could be Extra Low Frequency waves (ELF) produced by HAARP – High Frequency Active Auroral Research Project.
  
  I believe that is what is responsible for the unexplained deaths of tens of thousands of fish and birds recently.
  
  I also believe that is what caused the large unexplained Booms heard around the Country.
  
  Everyone knows that certain Sound Wave frequencies drive dogs nuts, but we can’t hear it.
  
  There is a specific frequency that would drive humans nuts, and not dogs.

  Build a deer bridge over the car bridge because they have a right to a safe bridge to travel on. I heard that’s in the constitution. Just tax the big oil companies more, I’m sure they will not raise the price of gas when the government taxes them.

That’s interesting..I haven’t done much research on HAARP..but I understand that it has to do with Chem Trails and manipulating weather..I can see deer jumping over railing from sheer fright..especially with people to be so insensitive as to barrel over those bridges with them on it..But as for the birds dying in flocks…a few yrs ago I heard that a flock nose dived into a wet WALMART parking lot thinking it a lake..but as for the ones dying for no good reason..what do you want to bet it’s GMO foods? They grow their own roundup (poison) right in the plant..you can’t wash the poison off..you eat it right in the heart of the food..and it is suspected of causing cancer..Auto Immune disease and alzhimers..Walmart had corn on the cob this year that was killing rats..France found a link between massive tumors and GMOs and called for a world wide ban..They blend the DNA of tomatoes say with spiders etc..it’s franken phude..They plan to rid the planet of 6.5 billion people..It’s in Revelations..and I belive Agenda 21…The UN has published a report..called “Our Global Neighborhood.” Guess who’s the biggest investors of Monsanto GMO’s ?   It is so thick where I am at, it looks like fog. Most people are oblivous to it now, since it was a gradual

  Lack color, flavor, crunchy and very strange looking.
  I eat Organic whenever I can.

  like our ancestors ate.

  I’ll make a bet that the count of suicidal deer can be counted on one hand for a yearly average. As one can see in the tape there were no deer, only a column of elk going across a hill side. Those lefties at that Boisie station are still at it. Drama, drama, drama, whether it be true or not.

This story reminds me of a man with his family traveling I-70 through Utah at night stopped for a potty break. He jumped over the railing not realizing he was on a bridge. Tragic ending.

  In some east coast states, fresh road-kill white tail deer, if recovered soon enough by the DOT, is donated to the prison systems for food (I speak from knowledge from about 15 years ago so I don’t know if this is any longer the case).
  
  In some states you can recover deer killed in ways other than hunting (such as road-kill or ?deer suicide?) but you must pay the state fees for a hunting license and deer stamp and it will count towards your seasonal “bag limit”.
  
  It’s most definitely an incredible waste if the DNR guys (at least) are not taking these deer home to their freezers and families!

  I Alaska we have a lot of moose that get hit on the roads and railway. We have an organization called the Alaska Moose Federation that goes out and picks the animal up and it goes to food banks and homeless shelters.

  I’ve been up to that bridge so many times I can’t even count, and I’ve never even seen a deer on the road up there, let alone jump off the bridge. I haven’t seen any deer on that road even all the way to Idaho City.

Deer are hoofed animals like cows and the West has solved the problem of cows on highways by installing cattle guards across the roads which cows will not cross but vehicles can. Put the cattle guards on each end of the bridges but make them wider so they won’t jump across the guards. Problem solved.

  I don’t understand why they built an expensive underpass for the deer. A wildlife grate at each end of the bridge will keep them off the bridge. Or perhaps they were afraid of the Deer United Union going on strike for being denied bridge privileges?
  
  Whats wrong with a 10′ fence running behind the guard rails? Cost much less than an underpass. Plus, what if the deer have a public education and can not read the signs directing them to the underpass?

  For what it’s worth I’ve worked with deer for over ten years, they’re actually pretty smart. The fact that the majority of them survive the high powered rifle, compound bow hunting seasons proves that as well as anything. However they tend to do stupid things which makes them a lot like people.
