Two Women Disrupt Remembrance Ceremony Honoring Canadas War Dead, Fist Fight Ensues

Canadians honored the nation’s 158 soldiers who have died in the Afghanistan war during a remembrance ceremony in downtown Toronto on Sunday. It was not a political event by any stretch of the imagination.

But that didn’t stop two women, who claimed to be “Afghan women,” from screaming at the participants at the ceremony, making known their opposition to Canada’s involvement in the war. The incitement led to a chaotic scene where fists were thrown and police intervention was needed.

“Where’s freedom? All you do is bomb other countries like mine,” one of the women shouts.

“Who’s going to remember the Afghans who were killed in this illegal occupation,” the other woman yells.

A short time later, all hell broke lose. While it’s unclear what started the initial physical altercation, two men can be seen on video throwing punches and wrestling. Neither man was identified so it is uncertain whether one of the men was with the anti-war group.

Police quickly arrived to break up the scuffle and briefly detained the apparent male aggressor. However, they did not end up putting him in handcuffs or arresting him.

Some cross talk — and a lot of obscenities — were exchanged between the anti-war group and others but there didn’t appear to be any further violence.

Our friends Sun News have more details from Canada, including an email from the two female protesters:

Interesting that much of this disrespect came from, seemingly, some of the very people who should have been at this ceremony saying thank you. Instead they attempted to ruin it.

“I cannot, and will not, be silent in a ceremony used to glorify Canada’s mission in Afghanistan, where many of my fellow Afghans were detained, tortured and killed because of the Canadian military,” explained Suraia Sahar in an e-mail to Newstalk 1010 reporter Siobhan Morris, as well as Showgram host Jim Richards and producers Jessie Lorraine and Jordan Whelan.

Sahar wrote she and friend Laila were protesting because “there is no honour” in Remembrance Day. “As an Afghan Canadian my anger can be justified,” she wrote. “But I faced enough verbal abuse by racist, angry old white people telling me to go back to my country, and that the Canadian military should kill more Afghans.”

  I would like to know if these women have actually ever lived in Afghanistan. Do they have any real knowledge of the Taliban and what they have done in *her country.*
  
  I am truly tired of people like this. They live in countries that give, give and give some more and they still are nothing but Muslim. Not Canadian, not American, not British, Australian,French, etc. They are Muslim and THAT is all that matters.

They live Canada, but still aligned themselves with Afghanistan. Interrupting a solemn occasion, and yet these two women, feel free enough to scream during the ‘moment of silence’.
And the police threaten the videographer, no one else.
Yes, it sounds exactly like the US.
So, the two major nations of North America are under attack by the same aggressors, and the police protecting screaming and shouting protestors.
And no need to question, if the roles were reversed – and we protested the Mosque placed at Ground Zero, all of us would have arrest records, with DNA and fingerprints in the system until the day we die.
Apparently we did not get the memo that we are already considered second class citizens….in our own country(s).

I am canadian, and we agree to disagree, but those women can go back to their country and try and express themselves there, the military only wants to help that country and woman such as them, to bring them into this century. Yeah I say go back there! See how long they last with their mouth!

  These people refuse to stand up to tyranny in their own countries, and instead they come to our countries and abuse the freedoms they are granted by promoting the very tyranny they cowered from back home. It’s very frustrating when you can see through their deceit and accusations only to recognize the insanity that drives them.
  
  I despise the “moderate muslims” who condone and even promote subjugation and oppression in their home countries, while pointing the finger of blame and islamophobia at the very people who want to share freedom and prosperity with them.

Funny, isn’t it… these two women would have been beaten and/or stoned to death in Afghanistan for appearing in public without being covered from head to toe, being out without a mail chaperone and for having the audacity to speak in protest about anything at all. Yet they’re protesting the very people who sought to set them free. I guess freedom doesn’t mean much to those who’ve never had to pay for.

  After reading most of the comments, I wonder if most know that muslim factions send out people like these, women in this case, to do exactly what is seen… The palestinians agitate the Israeli guards by taunting them hoping to catch them on video abusing them (as they would claim).

  You are correct, there are two culture’s that are incompatable in America and must be deported back to countries of ethnic origin, Black and Mid-East Arabs. It is plain to see that anywhere you start to have large population of these cultures that the violence increases dramatically. But as always the liberals think they can save/civilize them and that is to the White races detrament.
