Check Out the Biblical Reference Behind the Name of Israel’s Military Operation Against Hamas
In English, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is calling its effort – launched Wednesday – to strike a blow to Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure “Pillar of Defense,” but in Hebrew the operation’s name has another, deeper biblical meaning. In Hebrew, the IDF named its operation “Amud Anan,” that is Pillar of Cloud, a clear reference to the flight of the Children of Israel from Egypt and how God protected them.
In the Book of Exodus 13:21, as the Israelites flee Egypt and the oppressive Pharaoh, the scene is described this way:
The Lord went before them in a pillar of cloud by day, to guide them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, that they might travel day and night.
The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire remained with them throughout their journey. Meanwhile, a very angry Pharaoh deployed his chariots, horses and warriors to chase after the departing former slaves. As the Egyptian soldiers began to catch up with the Israelites, this is what happened, according to Exodus 14:19-20:
The angel of God, who had been going ahead of the Israelite army, now moved and followed behind them; and the pillar of cloud shifted from in front of them and took up a place behind them and it came between the army of the Egyptians and the army of Israel. Thus there was a cloud with the darkness, and it cast a spell upon the night, so that the one could not come near the other all through the night.
Then the Red Sea split, the Israelites began to cross on dry land while the Egyptian military on horse and chariot chased after them into the now-divided sea. Exodus 14:24 reads:
At the morning watch, the Lord looked down upon the Egyptian army from a pillar of fire and cloud, and threw the Egyptian army into panic.
TheBlaze asked Haifa University bible scholar Dr. Jonathan Ben-Dov why he thinks the IDF chose this biblically significant reference as the name of the operation to strike Hamas. He said:
They chose it because it’s something for defense. The pillar of cloud stood to absorb the arrows of the Egyptians. That’s I think what they had in mind. It was in front of them and then behind them and then back in the front of them. The pillar of cloud is there to defend.
And now Israel seeks a modern day “Pillar of Cloud” to defend itself against relentless attacks by Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited the foreign ambassadors serving in Israel to Ashkelon – a city that’s suffered from rocket fire launched by terrorist groups in Gaza, including Hamas, to try to prepare international public opinion while he was planning the more wide-scale military operation in Gaza. Israel is investing great effort in emphasizing the defensive objective of its military mission, that is, to protect the million Israeli citizens living within the radius of Grad and Qassam rockets. According to IDF statistics, more than 12,000 rockets launched by Gaza terrorist groups have hit southern Israel in the past 12 years. It reports that since the beginning of 2012, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have fired 768 rockets into Israel. More than 120 were fired between Sunday and Tuesday.
The biblical passage refers to a specific example in which God was defending the Israelites from a cruel and merciless enemy – one with a hard heart. Thus, in those three words “Pillar of Cloud,” the IDF can convey Israel is on the defense, while Hamas and other terrorists – like the biblical Egyptian warriors – are unjustifiably chasing innocent men, women and children.
The IDF has in the past used biblical phrases for its operations’ names. For example, the 1996 battle Grapes of Wrath against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The tiny state of Israel according to dialectical logic and reason, should not exist. It surrounded on all its sides by a far more powerful foe with much more vast numbers, yet there it is and there it has been for over 60 years. Or Father stated in Jeremiah 24 he would place (plant) Judah (Jews) back in the land of Israel and he would not pluck them up. That prophecy occurred in 1947-1948.
It simply can not be denied that that tiny State of Israel still stands against insurmountable odds. The existence of the State of Israel is a physical example of our Father and his prophecy.

What makes you think GOD has not moved.
I would suggest that Obama’s election is a further sign that GODS wrath is being employed.
We are Morally, spiritually and Financially bankrupt and have turned our backs on HIM.
Remember, GOD moves slowly giving his flock time to return to the fold and repent.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 8:03amThe time is close for the rapture of the church. I no longer worry about what Obama and his evil minions are doing. There is nothing we can do about it. The whole world has become an evil place bent on the destruction of God. We are watching biblical prophecies unfold. Quite exciting when you think about it. It is what we Christians have been learning, teaching, and preaching since we have been Christians. Why be upset about it. No I don’t want to see people dying and will work to reach others so that they may be saved as well. Obama’s re-election was an act of God. Don’t remember the exact scripture but it says. He will raise kings up and He will destroy kings. That is quite paraphrased but you get the point. Reach out to Jesus. He is the only way to be saved. Don’t be left behind to endure the tribulation. Live for Christ while you still can. It makes all this madness so much easier to understand. “For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting life.” John 3:16 That’s all it takes and I hope some will read this and believe. God Bless and I will see you in Heaven my friends.

You are absolutely correct, Jeremiah 24 identifies the generation of the fig as Judah being planted back in the land of Israel. The mating verses to the prophecy of Jeremiah 24 is Mark 13:28-30, where Christ tells you “Learn a parable of the fig tree” and ” This generation shall not pass till all these things be done”. That generation started in 1947-48, when Judah (good fig) was planted back in the land of Israel.
That generation is now 64 years old. Biblical generations are defined as 70 or 80 (Psalms 90:10) or 120 years (Genesis 6:3). That equates to 2017-18, or 2027-18 or 2067-68.
All of the prophecy given by Christ in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, is now observable. We are building to the events given in the prophecy of Daniel (8 and 11), which relate to Iran (Persia) and Media (Iraq-Turkey), and their rise to vast wealth and power as well as their prophesied down fall. All these events will lead to the global order by Satan as the fake Jesus (Daniel 7 and the book of Revelation).
Those who are waiting for our Father to take action, all you need do is look to observe its occurrence all around you.

I would like to remind all (and am sorry I find humor in) that Herod was eaten by worms because he did not give praise to God in Acts 12:23. That was a little adjudication in my might…..but I know God’s timing is perfect.
You are right that all seems to be setting up for end times. I just caution you all that none will know the date and hour. With the control of the media firmly with the “global powers”, I often wonder if we are being made to believe these are those end times. Satan certainly knows God’s word. The emphasis on pre-trib rapture is apart of the apostasy of the church, as is the political correctness and ‘tolerance’ we find in the churches today.

The rest of the churches did not and were castigated for it. When Judah gathered back to Israel (The state) in 1948, the good figs AND the bad figs formed the nation. The bad figs(kenites) play a big role in Israel’s politics today.

The logical math for this equation is if there is not one trace, it did not exist
math and science follow rules and absolutes, existence of something that left no trace breaks the rules.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 1:18pmROBERTHAWK I keep score and apply current events to prophecy. Doing this has caused me to be called “conspiracy theorist”. When I saw the “beast of revelation” assuming reality. I came upon a way to predict convergence of prophecy and our world. It is the ‘WWSD’, or, What Would Satan Do? I start with the idea of world dominance constructed by a supernatural entity known as “the prince of this earth”. I then look at who is fulfilling three criteria: 1) humans elevated to power, through no effort of their own 2) politics supporting the establishment of world governance 3) The participation ,and the influence of the 4 hidden dynasties-media (education), politics, economy and religion.
I then assume that being satan, I have unlimited resources, wealth, sycophantic followers willing to my bidding religiously, immense political power on the world stage, and a support mechanism that is unknowing of my identity. The last one there, is my real weapon.
From here I can see patterns and systems that overlay current events and political agendas.
Very informative.

When it’s repeated 2 or more times in the Bible, there is emphasis on the prophecy that it will be fulfilled. The baby boomer generation (which I’m on the tail end of it) is the generation referred to as not passing away. My oldest brother was born in 1946, me, in 1957. This generation overlaps the resurrection of Israel as a nation again on May 14, 1948.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 4:00amWe wonder why and how B_HO got re-elected, I am, by no means, not a Biblical scholar. So most of what I got (about this topic) comes from the books by Joel Rosenberg. I believe it was in the one titled Twelfth Imam, where he talks of the 12th Imam rising from mass chaos in the middle-east, the anti-Christ who rules for seven (7) years. The anti-Christ is commonly referred to as “a sheep in Wolf’s clothing”, so in other words he gives freely to the less educated, fortunate and the pure lazy cheats. He gets them under his will and away from GOD’s will; by the time it’s discovered he’s not what he claims millions of souls are lost and the battle of the fake Imam and the anti-Christ nearly destroys the planet. That’s the day darkness gives way to light and HE returns.
B_HO is going into his 5th year.

That is an opinion placed in the minds of people by our education system teaching them the dialect of Hegel. Its expressed exactly as this person writes in by Hegel’s students, Feuerbach, Bauer, and Sterner. Its easy to lead the weak minded into this conclusion using the dialectic. The dialectic is configured in such a way that the believer can come to no other conclusion except that Our Father does not exist.
So why did the State of Israel use reference to the pillar which followed the tribes of Israel out of captivity in Egypt? The existence of the State of Israel is prophecy. Its written in the book of Jeremiah, in chapter 24, that Judah would be returned to the land of Israel and they were in 1947-1948.
No matter if you believe in the Lord God of Israel or not. Its difficult to support the fact that a tiny state such as Israel could have survived for over 60 years against so great a foe as there is found in the Middle East. The State of Israel is surrounded on all sides by a strong enemy, yet it still exists… This to defies the dialectic. By all normal assumptions, the State of Israel should have been crushed long ago, but it still exists and seems to be invincible. The very continued existence of the State of Israel, defies all dialectical logic and reason. Yet there they are and there. Why? Because our Father Stated he would plant them there and not pluck them up (Jer 24). They are a Physical example of him and his word.

And before you say something sassy about God calling out to us:of course it’s not by the phone, or email or someone coming up to you and bashing you with a Bible. It’s hearing through another person, a book or a Bible, something you see/hear on T.V. or radio. You’ll know when you hear the truth and that’s when you make the choice. His choice was for His Son to die on the cross to save us…then it’s YOUR choice what you do with that knowledge. Whether you believe it or not, God loves you and He will always want you to accept Him.

Posted on November 17, 2012 at 11:05am@Dignified, presently, there will be NO one religion established over the other, as per our US Constitution. Everyone is free to worship their own way. That was why that clause was put in the constitution, because that is what our founding fathers wanted, because most of them came here to get away from the persecution of being forced to join a religion or denomination they did not believe in. However, it will not be Christianity that will be forced upon you, when the US Constitution is changed. We are one (if not two, if Ohio doesn’t agree to it) state away from a Constitutional Convention, where the constitution will be changed, and we won’t like the changes. The religion that will be forced down our throats, be converted, or die, will be Islam, not Christianity. So, get off your high-horse and attacking Christians… the ones you should be attacking is Muslims.

I believe second amendment right is applying from personal scale to as large as national scale. Israel did what they are ordered to do. The Canaanites are simply needed to wipe out to satisfy G-d’s righteousness. And HE is willing to connect HIS name with IsraEL is what astonish me! They marry under the mountain of Sinai and G-D HATE divorce! HE has restored them as a nation so I believe the wrath of G-d for Israel is over. Now it leaves to one question, does, we the Church, composed by gentile Christian support Israel or not! One thing I never get it is why we gentile Church love to claim ourselves new ISRAEL! However, here lately with a reelected President who thinks the Muslim call to prayer is the most beautiful sound on earth.A nation of people who calls themselves Christian sees homosexuality as the norm and little tiny unborn babies as dead blobs who needs incinerated.
And lastly we turn our friendship away from Israel, and partner with their enemies, who happen to be our enemies as well.
And we have the gall to ask God for His Blessings and protection??? Not blasphemous against God,but if I was God,Ida gave America just what they wanted too.Obama the Usurping Dictator for four more years. That ought to do it.Have a good day!!

Posted on November 17, 2012 at 11:18amBy Faith, if you knew your history, you’d know that Britain was a part of the Roman Empire, which also had control over Israel at the time of Yeshua’s presence here on earth. At the time of Nimrod, while the Tower of Babel was being constructed, Yahweh confounded the peoples, and gave the peoples their own languages, so that they could not communicate with each other. Then they left the area of the tower, and migrated to all parts of the world. During this time, we had a pan-continent… all of the continents as we know it now, were connected, and you can see the migration pattern of the peoples, based on that continent. That is why we have artifacts, and fossils, that we would think would not be connected, yet they are the exact same thing, on different continents. So, yes, we are descended from the original peoples of Nimrod, not of Israel. Abraham was a Bedouin Canaanite, that Yahweh selected from all the peoples to be the father of the nation of Israel (as well as the nations that are against her, because of Ishmael, his son by his wife Sarah’s handmaiden), because Abraham was faithful to Yahweh, something that was exceptional at that time, since everyone else worshipped Tammuz, son of Nimrod, a sun god. Remember, Yahweh says, Have no other gods before me!

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 11:32pmA prophecy, November 19, 1971: “But if the Eagle [USA] should fly first, if the Eagle should guard and do the duty that it was made to perform — we see in the minds of some of your people the thought not to protect that proportion of Israel. This must happen, for it is part of God’s plan. But the fuse is lit…is growing steadily toward Israel. If this should ignite, so should your world ignite.
And we say unto these people of your group, prepare now for the famine. Prepare a way for others. Store of the feed. Store of the seed. Do this in a gradual manner. And fear not, for the angel of God hovers above thee….
“And therefore, we should say again, now is the time of the Cherub.”

Posted on November 17, 2012 at 11:29amIn addition to the Word of God, Max, it will also be a famine of food. With hyperinflation of the nations’ currencies (it’s already starting), the droughts that have hit America’s bread belt (I know, I live in North Dakota, and we just experienced the worst drought that affected ALL of our crops here, since the Great Depression, and I have watched the damage happen over the last 3 years with the weather going from one extreme to the other, and floods of nearly the entire state), so it will be a matter of supply and demand. Supply is going to be limited, due to the conditions of the agriculture industry, which we have no control over, only Yahweh. So, those with the most money, will be able to afford the food, but it will take a huge chunk of money to buy it. A loaf of bread for a day’s wages, as per the Bible, in the end times. You see the food manufacturers already going out of business (re: Hostess Brands, in the last 24 hours, and the loss of 18,500 jobs). That is only the tip of the iceberg… more and more businesses/industries are going to collapse. So those of us that have eyes to see, ears to hear, will know ahead to prepare for the times that are to come. Sure, we will have the Rapture to take us out (ek) of the Tribulation, but only the Father knows the day and hour of the Rapture. So, it is at debate of the timing of the Rapture… so best to be prepared for any contingency!

Posted on November 17, 2012 at 11:36am@ Max Jones, you have your timing of the dispersion of the peoples wrong. We are descended from the peoples of the time of Nimrod, the time of the Tower of Babel… that is when the great migration came from the cradle of civilization, the Middle East. You are presuming that the 10 lost tribes of Israel migrated to the Northern American continent and Europe, which they did at the time of the diaspora of Judah and Israel. However, the migration of the peoples that populated North America and Europe happened centuries before that time. That is where the civilizations of the Mayans, Incans, et al, the Native American Indians of North America came from… from the time of Nimrod.

My clue was the 3 votes to put God and Israel back in the democratic platform at the DNC. Since I live in America, does that make me a Native American?
Is it possible for any native american to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are of a heritage of an ancient race that left from some place on the other side of the land bridge? If they could prove it, would we pull together as a people and make sure to carve out a piece of the foreign land and give it back to them regardless of the ensuing conflicts that could arrise?
How could we know that they in fact did own that land or by any means still hold claim to it?
Is it possible that the natives that could be claiming rights to the land on the other side of the land bridge, are not the same people that once owned the land?
Just some thoughts. God Bless America and May God Bring Peace to the Holy Land

Posted on November 17, 2012 at 11:54amSyria has also recalled their ambassador. When a nation recalls their ambassador (and this has been happening for as long as ambassadors for other nations have been used), it is the last step before war is called upon the nation that the ambassador is recalled from. This is why Israel has activated their 75K reservists, et al; they know what is coming, and are not going to sit and wait for the attack. They will be pre-emptive, for the first time in the history of their nation. Hamas (from Gaza and the West Bank) has been poking at her for the last 12 years, trying to get a rise out of her. She’s tolerated it for that long. Now that Egypt and Iran are showing open support, by providing Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to help Hamas’ terrorists in pinpointing targets, and Egypt’s prime minister visiting Gaza for the first time, to show support, it’s open warfare. All of the nations of the Middle East are banding together, finally. They have always been fighting against each other, as they were prophesied to do (per Ishmael’s birthright), until this time, when they were prophesied to come together against the nation of Israel.

All the Arab nations are not yet all united. they know that Israel can wipe them out individually, but maybe not collectively. They will wait until there is a broad coalition of nations before they get serious in taking on Israel.
This also follows the narration in the Bible. Time is getting short. Read Matthew 24, some things are still coming. It is time to make sure your house is built upon a Rock. The Rock of our Redeemer. Like is says in Matthew, be not troubled, for these things must surely comet to pass, but the end is not yet.
