‘Discrimination!’: House Dems Boo Reporter’s Question Asking Nancy Pelosi Whether Democratic Leadership Is Getting Too Old

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accompanied by House women Democrats, announces that she wants to remain as the top Democrat in the House of Representatives, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP)
House Democrats booed NBC’s Luke Russert on Wednesday for asking House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) whether her decision to run again for Democratic leader “prohibits the party from having a younger leadership.”
Russert’s question during a news conference elicited sharp rebukes from the other women House members on stage, including calls of “discrimination!”, “boo!” and “wow!”
“You’ve always asked that question except to [Republican Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell,” Pelosi shot back.
“No, excuse me,” Russert insisted. “You, Mr. [Minority Whip Steny] Hoyer, Mr. [Assistant Minority Leader James] Clyburn, you’re all over 70, is your decision to stay on prohibiting younger leadership from moving forward?”
“So you’re suggesting that everybody step aside?” Pelosi asked.
“No, I’m simply saying that delaying younger leadership from moving forward in the House Democratic wing — ” Russert countered.
“Let’s for a moment honor it as a legitimate question, although it’s quite offensive but you don’t realize that I guess,” Pelosi said.
She said “the fact is” she has worked tirelessly to get younger people elected to Congress, particularly women, in order for their seniority to kick in much sooner.
Pelosi added that “you’ve got to take off about 14 years from me because I was home raising a family, getting the best experience of all in diplomacy, interpersonal skill,” to applause from her colleagues.
“The answer is no,” Pelosi said.

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 12:50pmTRUE…always amusing that most of the up and coming GOP stars are minority…black, hispanic, asian, south-east asian, Indian…the GOP is becoming MORE diverse
the Jack A$$ party is ran by a bunch of old 60′s WHITE hippie Marxists with a few scattered loud mouth race baiters thrown in to try and discredit the diversity of the opposition … they pull out the Party House slaves whenever they need to appeal to the voters and then put them back in the closet until the next election or chance to blame occurs….
the first black SoS and black woman SoS – GOP
the first black SCOTUS Justice – GOP
the first hispanic and asian high ranking cabinet members – GOP
the first woman SCOTUS Justice – GOP
about the only thing the GOP didn’t do first was a gay cabinet member…and they might have but that is because in the GOP WE DON’T CARE what you do in your bedroom and won’t have made it an issue if we did now… unless of course it was illegal, immoral, or against the institution of marriage…
the Jack A$$ party had its firsts too…
first Pres to openly have an affair – JFK
first Pres to get Impeached for lying about an affair – WJC
first Pres to support a terrorist regime and hand over to them a country – Jimmy Peanutboy Carter
first Pres to say that he thought Socialism was a good idea and had many friends that were Commies and Socialist – FDR
first Pres to openly support EUGENICS (systematic murder of “undesirables” through abortion) – WW

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 1:15pmWow… This made me want to vomit. I cannot believe these people represent Americans. Even the Republicans, John Boehner and Mitch McConnel need to be removed from their positions.
Government is a reflection of its society, well at least the majority of it. Godless degenerates, seeking government to take care of us from cradle to grave.
This country will only heal when leaders become philosophers. A government led not by a philosopher is led by special interest, an agenda, opinions and inconsistency. A government led by a philosopher is done so by consistency, virtue and honesty.
God forgive us.

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 4:45pmIf she’s offended by a question about her age, maybe she’s too old to deal with really tough issues like ambassador rape, President-ordered murders, sex scandals, war, etc.
I mean, if you can’t ask her a question about her age, how can we expect her to deal with facts surrounding the most offensive administration in history?

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 12:19pmwow…LOL! true journalism breaks thru the B.S. and gets boo’d from the “diversity party” its just fine for 70 year old democrats to say republican party is too old? the hypocrisy here is stunning. “hell no we arent to old! 70 is the new 20 but only in the democratic party!” you silly little jello-headed obamatons, PLEASE believe that a difference of 407k votes in a handful of swing states gives you a mandate to further corn hole this country for another 4 years. we want progressive to be a 4 letter word. we want the end result of your policies in full view of those you have taken advantage of for the last 4 years, to see how bass-ackwards your policies are. you have INTENTIONALLY stifled growth, and investment and kept unemployment high with your policies…..and your plan is now to side with the president and double down on what is NOT working. to support a budget none of you voted for the first time around. you are despicable, and need to be treated as a pariah on this country’s economy. shame on you, and shame on our loosely termed “republican leadership” for not screaming this message during the election…screwed by another moderate who wants to “play nice” with D.C. Dems instead of shaming them into obscurity…did reagan soft soap his attacks on dems? did reagan say we need to change our message to be more like democrats? Lord help us.

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 12:08pmThere should have been an ammendment decades ago to impose term limits on members of congress. And that goes for state legislators as well. You should not be able to make politics a career, period.
Nobody should be able to live their entire adult lives as a senator or representative. People having been in congress for ten…twenty…thirty years and beyond is ridiculously absurd.

Posted on November 14, 2012 at 12:01pmWhen in the process of being elected by your constiuents of your state to represent them either in the Senate of House you cannot due to the “Old Boy’s/Girl’s” status in place.
You have not earned your position to be part of us, debate or question us,or hold any position of responsability unless I/We say so.
Until then you will mind your place, answer to Me/Us, do it our way or we will make life unbearable for you.
Then when you become and old cow like Nancy, a senile old fart like Harry, a wishy washy I am not sure what to do or say like John or Mitch…..then and only then can you join the club.
Until then watch me continue to fail, be ultra partisan, speak out of my A$$ and believe that I have some worth in what I do.
Your so right, we do need term limits or at least a Lemon Law within 120 days of an election.

I do have to add that Mitch McConnell is about the least impressive face of the Republican Party I’ve seen in a while although Boehner isn’t far behind. I know there are forceful, articulate, media (voter) appealing Republicans out there, so please keep McConnell off camera.
