Here’s Why Glenn Beck Says to Stop All Those Secession Petitions: ‘Are You Out of Your Mind?’

Glenn Beck responded to the wave of post-election secession petitions (which have now hit all 50 states) during both his radio and television programs Tuesday, relaying a simple message to his audience: taking part isn’t smart.

“Now how do you think that’s going to work out?” Beck asked on his radio show. “I mean, how dumb do you have to be? Really? You’re putting your name on a list that goes directly to the White House, and you’re putting your name on a list and saying, ‘yeah I think we should secede, I think there should be a Civil War.’”

When co-host Stu Burguiere pointed out that the petitions request a “peaceful” secession, adding that it really is just a place to “make a statement,” Beck appeared unconvinced.

“Uh huh…[And] do you think that these people don’t forget who made a statement to them? Are you out of your mind?”

Beck continued to say that many of the signatories are probably thinking something along the lines of, “They voted for this, let ‘em have it!”

“Instead of focusing on, ‘I’m not doing anything with you guys,’ just focus on the positive,” Beck countered. “What are you going to do? Anyone who wants to secede, that issue’s been settled. Now I don’t happen to agree with it, because I don’t understand how the Constitution could be a suicide pact…that’s what the Civil War settled.”

On his television program later that day, Beck continued to explore the role of the Declaration of Independence in modern-day secession petitions, and how the petitions could justify tighter control by the federal government.

“This is exactly the kind of fuel the president will use to order measures to ‘protect’ the Republic. And he’ll have the Department of Homeland Security at his disposal to enforce them.”

Noting that President Obama signed his 141st executive order expanding the “partnership” between the Department of Homeland Security and local police, Beck said that when the federal government gets involved, local police almost always take a back seat. Moreover, reports of the Social Security Administration buying 174,000 hollow-point bullets suddenly become much more troubling.

“If the government begins arming itself against the citizens at the federal level, and say ‘by the way, we’re your new state police,’ that would indeed be the point in the course of human events where it becomes necessary to dissolve political bands,” Beck said, concluding with a passage from the Declaration of Independence.

But, Beck said, “secession is not an option,” and so it is up to you to contact your governor, find out what your kids are learning, and change the media. Because the next step isn’t going to be easy.

The one thing we all should focus on is FAMILY,thats what makes this country strong,and liberals have been attacking famlies for decades,thru public school indoctrination ,desensitising homosexuality and normalizing abortion to our children a captive audience in a classroom,and putting condoms on bananas to teach safe sex to our kids when they really are teaching them to be sexually active and where to get an abortion and the nearest sex clinic called planned parenthood is,rather then teaching a sex ed class that would teach abstinence and the tools how to do it and the virtures that come along with it! studies show abstinence works and kids embrace when its taught at schools,but liberals lie and will say its been tried and has never worked! its a lie!, so since liberals introduced the birth countrol pill,planned parenthood,which is nothing more than a sex clinic,no-fault quickie divorces,abortion, divorce rates has gone up,single parenting has gone up,and the black family has been hit the worst,the more single parents,the more welfare recipents,the more democratic voters… We need to work a nation based on christian principles and the imporanace of the NORMAL family structure,…SO goes the tradional family so goes the country!

Wow, this silly topic again? A bunch of sore losers that dont like the results of an election want to secede? By all means noone is forcing you to say here so leave! IF you dont like a society that he free elections where a majority of the peopel choose the president then dont stay here, pack your things and just leave.

You guys actually think in your warped little minds that a state like Texas could secede and stand on its own is laughable. When the military bases ( lackland for exapmle) shut down San Antonio would be a ghost town. What appens when you have wildfires in Texas? You call up the fed and beg for help. So spare me this crap.   if you voted for this president its your mind thats warped…when obamacare kicks in say goodbye to your tax return,say hello to double gas prices,higher utility bills,and yet another increase in food prices,cloths etc ,and daycare will go up because polititions like Gov Mark Dayton on Minn, wants to force daycare providers to join a union,I suppose so they can collective bargain against themselves,so this election is bad for all Americans this is not a game these are lives idiot!…grow up!,even dough head voters like you will be seriously impacted when obamacare kicks in as of 1/1414!…you are a perfect example of why a little knowledge is a dangerious thing!

  As we know, if the Fed leaves, Texas would just close the military bases. Wouldn’t fill them with it’s own militias, nope.
  
  When disaster strikes, Texans who are now sending no money to the Fed and who now have a lot more to spend, will suddenly be able to deal with natural disasters the way all people have before the invention of the Sacred FEMA.

Lucky Texas who actually has a right to secede:

officially declared their independence from Mexico.
In the treaty that joined Texas to the United States, Texas reserved the right to secede.

And on 13 November 1860 South Carolina’s legislature called a special convention to discuss secession.
On 20 December 1860 after deliberating three days, the Convention adopted the Secession Ordinance by a vote of 169 to zero.

I’m probably on any number of lists right now just for being conservative, gun owner, small govt, etc. I didn’t sign the petition, but it was weird when I opened it to read it it said “you’ve already signed this petition”. Eh? No I didn’t.

This is more about protest than it is actual secession. To be honest, within the next 4 years this country is going to collapse on its own under the weight of unsustainable debt and spending, secession won’t be necessary because this country won’t really be here anymore anyway.

The government has information on every single person in the US. Please do not be naive and think otherwise. Rick Perry has already spoken to the White House and TX is not leaving the union. Sorry but you would have to have our governer request this and then the people of the state would need to vote for it as well. Most of the people on that petition are not even from TX. Also though they are sending bills through our state right now to nullify the NDAA against TX citizens. This is a good start in my opinion. We do need to stick together through thick and thin though.

Isn’t this the same clown telling everyone to “say what they mean and mean what they say”. The signers of the Declaration was giving their names to the King. I’m not sure I’m for succession….. yet. But, that’s what separates real men of Freedom from wannabe radio disc jockeys.

Methinks Glenn wouldn’t had been at the Alamo with the real Texans.

  Precisely my view. The DOI was distributed far and wide and went directly into the hands of the Loyalists. Patriots such as Samuel Adams were notorious for thumbing their nose at the Brits and then going on the lamb to escape imprisonment. Men were not afraid to stand up directly to their enemy and say essentially “Bite me”.

If Mr. Beck has not named you as one of the people out to “get” him it’s only because he hasn’t gotten to that part of his list yet.

States do not need to secede from the United States which is a creation of and servant to the sovereign and independent American states that created the federal government. What states need to do is utterly defy and completely refuse to comply with the unlawful, illegitimate, and unconstitutional edicts, mandates, and orders coming out of Washington because the federal government has absolutely no authority whatsoever to issue them or compel American citizens to comply with them. The federal government has great but very limited and specific powers outlined in the Constitution and that’s all the authority they have. Supreme political power exists in the states, not the federal government, period.

This is why your party got’s it butt kick on Nov 6. Over the past days many lawyers have looked at these petitions and said…even if you get the 25,000 signatures and send it to the White House……the President, Congress nor the Senate have the power to grant this. It’s impossible and after the last bloody civil war I don’t think there will be another. Also……not many states can stand on their own. States like California, which had the 8 largest economy in the world before Arnold S, could make it due to it’s ports and being able to export many things….land locked states are screwed. Also…..states would have to have their own armies and would no longer have access to Government funds……good luck with that.

Anyone signing such a thing is a sore loser….thought Romney would win with his pack of lies and money and their a bit touched in the head. If your that mad about Romney losing, just do us all a favor and don’t try to leave the Union…..Leave the Country!!!!!!

I’ve been on a ‘list’ SOMEWHERE for years. I’m sick of The Washington BS.. Liberty or Death. We are all probably on a list in the new ‘information center’ anyway.. I will die with my gun in my hands and a smile on my face. Bring It! Let The President gut the military and continue to let personnel DIE overseas and let’s see if he will have the power to stop it.. I Wonder how many of their family and friends will just ‘let it go’ ? I wonder how many people who were loyal to the the king in 1775 thought the same way you did? The country (as we knew it) is over.. If they want us gone, having your name on an ‘online petition’ won’t matter anyway.. And if it does, there is nothing more worth dying for than Liberty…

If we don’t like the govenment we’re supposed to change it with votes not secession. It would be hard just to get one states people to agree on anything much less the entire country or else we wouldn’t be in this mess. I wish I could offer a solution but I can’t but I know that secession will not work.

If the king wants to “deal” with the resistance, how easy is it now? He’s got a immediate threat list delivered to him by the very people themselves…..”ooh ooh ooh, pick me, pick me” Did these brave souls think that this was a good idea? Lord I hope not.

Fact is, I am disapointed and shocked at the direction the masses want this counrty to go in, as long as “I gots mine” mentality is in effect there is no hope, and certainly lot’s of change. I assume the majority of you fellow Blaze fequents are angry, surprised, dispaointed (and 30 other descriptions go here). We cannot change anything against the machine, we allowed this to happen. Either conform to the king or move, me, I’m moving and watch the implosion happen from afar. I reallt don’t care about black, white, Dem, Rep or whatever, we are (were) Americans, we have and will continue to disagree with one another, that’s what is (was) great about this country, we are (were) free to have your own opinion.

I have been in suppressed countries, it’s not nice, not to be able to do what you want when you want is a freedom we take for granted. I will miss this (once) great country.

What is one more? Hell might as well crawl in a cave and die, because if I can not express myself freely then the country I love is already too far gone and is never coming back.
