Here’s Why Glenn Beck Says to Stop All Those Secession Petitions: ‘Are You Out of Your Mind?’

Glenn Beck responded to the wave of post-election secession petitions (which have now hit all 50 states) during both his radio and television programs Tuesday, relaying a simple message to his audience: taking part isn’t smart.

“Now how do you think that’s going to work out?” Beck asked on his radio show. “I mean, how dumb do you have to be?  Really?  You’re putting your name on a list that goes directly to the White House, and you’re putting your name on a list and saying, ‘yeah I think we should secede, I think there should be a Civil War.’”

When co-host Stu Burguiere pointed out that the petitions request a “peaceful” secession, adding that it really is just a place to “make a statement,” Beck appeared unconvinced.

“Uh huh…[And] do you think that these people don’t forget who made a statement to them?  Are you out of your mind?”

Beck continued to say that many of the signatories are probably thinking something along the lines of, “They voted for this, let ‘em have it!”

“Instead of focusing on, ‘I’m not doing anything with you guys,’ just focus on the positive,” Beck countered.  “What are you going to do?  Anyone who wants to secede, that issue’s been settled.  Now I don’t happen to agree with it, because I don’t understand how the Constitution could be a suicide pact…that’s what the Civil War settled.”

On his television program later that day, Beck continued to explore the role of the Declaration of Independence in modern-day secession petitions, and how the petitions could justify tighter control by the federal government.

“This is exactly the kind of fuel the president will use to order measures to ‘protect’ the Republic.  And he’ll have the Department of Homeland Security at his disposal to enforce them.”

Noting that President Obama signed his 141st executive order expanding the “partnership” between the Department of Homeland Security and local police, Beck said that when the federal government gets involved, local police almost always take a back seat.  Moreover, reports of the Social Security Administration buying 174,000 hollow-point bullets suddenly become much more troubling.

“If the government begins arming itself against the citizens at the federal level, and say ‘by the way, we’re your new state police,’ that would indeed be the point in the course of human events where it becomes necessary to dissolve political bands,” Beck said, concluding with a passage from the Declaration of Independence.

But, Beck said, “secession is not an option,” and so it is up to you to contact your governor, find out what your kids are learning, and change the media.  Because the next step isn’t going to be easy.

    *thinks out loud*… I wonder how long it will take Beck to complete his 5 year plan if everyone who signed the petition is carried off to Canada and can no longer pay for their Blaze Subscriptions?

    Tell you what, go down to Texas into the local bar in Ft. Worth somewhere and tell them boys to quit being a bunch of crybabies and leave town. PLEASE TAKE VIDEO. That’s an epic ass-kicking I wouldn’t want to miss.

    I spent several years of my life in texas ( USAF) and said exactly what i had to say in many bars there and guess what? Texas boys get knocked out just like West coast boys, i could care less where you are from since it dont make you any togher than the next man. All humans have the same weaknesses so you can be born in the toughest place in the world but a few pounds of pressure in the right spot will stop anyone. Your tought talk of Texans dont scare me at all.

    As far as me saying leave to those that want to secede, so what? If you dont like how this country works then go to a different one. Texas or any other state isnt ” yours” anyway so spare me.

    Not to sign it in fear is Bullcrap,,How many names are pouring in over gun sells.Think about that if they wanted to collect names…
    If we base it all on fear you may as well run now…These folks dont care what people think or they would have started change when over a million people where in DC at the rallys…Who knows what will triger a clamp down could be this could be that…War is never a answer but sometimes it is,, I guess necessary..Lets just pray it’s not and we can find away peacefuly other wise no one wins, we all lose…

    Odd that a petition goes to the White House for a state to secede. Secession goes through the State’s legislature and not to the current tyrant in the WH (or past for that matter).

    The feds have been stocking up on ammo for the last few years preparing for civil unrest and I wouldn’t want to place a bullseye on myself by giving them my information through a secession petition. I am sure they already have my information through some other mechanism since they are monitoring virtually all online activity.

    Our country was founded with a peaceful uniting of the states and destroyed by our first tyrant Lincoln when SC wanted to evoke their constituional right of secession. Many northern states had threatened to secede prior to the war of northern agression and they werent threatened with war. I am also sure that Lincoln should have been tried for treason for declaring war on a state as written in the Constitution. We weren’t founded as a Nation, but as these united states. There is a difference!

    The only recourse that we did have was to move to a different state if we didn’t agree with a state’s policies. Now, with the federal govt in control of vrtually every aspect of life – how do you escape it’s reach w/out leaving the country.

    The State Legislatures are the only peaceful means of either separation or resistance, but it is defenitely not through a petition at the WH.

    Really. Beck is quick to quote our founding fathers but rather short on their character traits. We will all be cowering in a corner (Texas) if he has his way. Thank God there were those who thought for themselves and STOOD for what the believed They didn’t just pray their way to freedom they were willing to pay the price. Don’t be afraid of the big bad wolf Glen he already knows your address.

If you ever registered a gun in your name, you are on a list. If you are a member of the Tea Party, you are on the list. If you belong to the NRA, you are on a list. Seriously Glenn??

    There is NO WAY in hell I’m signing ANYTHING that goes straight to the current regime. While I do disagree with just about everything they do, I think it wise to keep much of it to myself. I’ve begun to CEASE speaking with so-called “friends” and co-workers. This is the time to go UNDERGROUND. We need SILENT weapons for QUIET “wars”. I’ll make my own plans for surviving this madness.

    I think these succession petitions are a great idea.
    If Congress and the administration have to spend their 15-20 hours working a month on these, then maybe they wont have time to come up with more of their big spending ideas to fix something else that don’t need fixing.

    Between their vacations, meeting with their lobbyist backers and getting their face on TV, these over paid self important union supporters, don’t have a lot of time to take up legislation, so filling their legislation times with meaningless talk, could save tax payers a lot of money.

    By the way, the states are supposed to run the Feds, not the other way around.
