How Did Obama Respond to Fox News Reporter Ed Henry’s Tough Benghazi Question?

Ed Henry Grills Obama on Benghazi: Did You Issue Any Orders to Try to Protect Their Lives?

During his first presidential news conference since June, President Barack Obama was pressed by Fox News’ Ed Henry to say whether he issued any “orders” to attempt to protect American lives in Benghazi as the Sept. 11 terrorist attack was underway.

Following up on ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, Henry posed the following loaded question:

“I wanted to ask about the families of these four Americans who were killed. Sean Smith’s father Ray said he believes his son basically called 911 for help and they didn’t get it. And I know you said you grieve for these four Americans, that it is being investigated, but the families have been waiting for more than two months. So I would like for you to address the families, if you can. On 9/11, as Commander-in-Chief, did you issue any orders to try to protect their lives?”

Henry and Karl were the only two reporters to ask about Benghazi.

“Ed, I’ll address the families not through the press. I’ll address the families directly, as I already have,” Obama replied. “And we will provide all the information that is available about what happened on that day. That’s what the investigation is for.”

Without providing a yes or no answer, the president went after his critics who question whether the U.S. government did everything it could to save the Americans under attack in Benghazi.

“If people don’t think that we did everything we can to make sure that we saved the lives of folks who I sent there, and who were carrying out missions on behalf of the United States, then you don’t know how our Defense Department thinks or our State Department thinks or our CIA thinks,” Obama said. “Their number one priority is obviously to protect American lives.”

As Henry raised his hand to follow up, Obama interrupted him and continued with his answer.

“I can can tell you that immediately upon finding out that our folks were in danger, that my orders to my national security team were do whatever we need to do to make sure they’re safe. And that’s the same order I would give any time that I see Americans are in danger — whether they’re civilian or military — because that’s our number one priority.”

Wait, his #1 priority? Isn’t that health care? Or is it the economy? Or making middle-class tax-cuts permanent?

Even if you argue that the things above were time-table specific, it just illustrates my point; Obama’s #1 priority is keeping Americans safe once he’s f’d up so bad that an ambassador was sodomized and murdered.

Maybe his #1 priority should be honesty with the American people, so we can put his butt in jail next to Eric Holder.

  I reciently ask one of my Senators ( Joe Manchin) what he was going to do in regards to the attack on Benghazi since he is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. His response was “As the formal investigation continues on Libya, Pleased be assured that I will do everything in my power to make sure we apprehend and bring to justice those responsable for these acts of COWARDICE”. Joe knows the cowards are in the whitehouse.

  I saw something on the recreation of the benghazi attavk on fox. I remember when it first broke they mentioned stevens being sodomised but in this scenario the people came from the cia annex couldn’t find stevens because of the smoke anywhere in the consulate. They did find smith and took him back to the annex. On the route back they were repeatedly attacked as they made their way back. Then the ” peaceful ” looters found stevens’ body at the consulate and brought him to a hospital, while shouting Al Ahkbar, you know, because they were so happy to have found him alive. So my questions are, when was he raped? and who raped him? It could have been the ” peace loving people of Libya, who were trying to save him right? But they were the only ones that were able to find him in that smoke filled house.”

  Let’s see the damned order! To whom did you give this order, and why was the order not obeyed? Those people were under attack for hours, and a quick response could have saved some of them. Obama is stonewalling. He did not order help for those Americans under attack in Benghazi!

  Take a moment and re-watch the video of the answer. Why is it that while the President is answering(?) Ed Henry’ question, his head is shaking back and forth in the gesture of “NO” or “Not True” and he does not come across as believing what he is saying. Ed Henry is weak and if that is as tough as he gets, so be it, but Fox News viewers sorely miss Major Garrett, and I did not know if he was conservative or liberal–he just asked touch questions and reported the answers.

  I can’t believe the American people chose this president for a 2nd term. A president who missed a large percentage of security briefings, spent two years shoving Obama Care down our throats, spent more time on TV pushing “scare tactics/lies than he spent working with both sides on our economy/creating jobs/foreign policy. This same man is more worried about keeping up his “celebrity” status than keeping up with national security. The same person who said if he could not fix our economic issues within his first term that he would be a “one term president” yet he campaigned for re-election and won.
  
  I blame the American people, we all had a chance to make a change. Our country would rather have “free stuff” instead of freedom. A large portion of this society are not educated enough nor care to know the facts. I mean think about it, if people are that lazy to live off the govt for their entire lives, why would they bother researching and fact finding about their leader, the person who guarantees free things? A large portion of voters did so strictly because of skin color and hate alone, as shown by social media. This country is more divided than ever and hate is much more prevalent after this last election.

  By the way, there are 32 states that receive more federal funds (including welfare) than they contribute in taxes (the takers). Of those 32 states, 27 are red states. The red states are the takers and are the drain on the economy. That is an undeniable fact.

Obama gave the order to “stand down” and they continued to fight while he watched them die!!!!, for 7 hours, 15 hours later the military arrived, that’s 22 hours of nothing!!!!!!!!! Then he sent Rice out to lie about a video being the cause. Obama knew with an hour that this was a terrorist attack. This is treason and Petraeus will most likely cover for him.   Obama will deflect any question regarding this . How many of you remember his statements regarding ‘Black Americans’ like days after a collage professor is arrested and he doesn’t have all the facts he says “ the police acted stupidly”

  It is hard to follow Obama; after the Benghazi attack he lamed a video, then during debate he Blamed terrorism and Candy Crowley confirmed it even though we had a month of Obama blaming a video.Yesterday in defending Ambassador Rice, he said she went on those shows to speak for us with the information we gave her. So again Obama is claiming he blamed a video. It is maddening that not one of those journalists asked a question that needs to be asked.

If he had done ‘everything he could’ to help those calling for help in Benghazi, there’s a very good chance that they would have been rescued, at least someof them, and that many more of the assailants would have paid the price for attacking Americans that night.

  The Benghazi was set to be Obama’s October suprise. With the cooperation of his friends in Libya’s Muslim Brotherhood, the entire affair was a pre-planned kidnapping or hostage situation. Check the thing out, no help no plain for escape, the people that took him to the hospital were the terrorist them selves.   Sir, I think a more fitting punishment would be that he and Eric Holder are extradited to Mexico to stand trial for the hundreds of deaths caused by Fast and Furious. If by some galactic twist of fate he’s found not guilty he can stand trial here for a myriad of charges. Starting with breaking his oath of office, which should, imho, disqualify ANY elected official from serving in any office which requires taking an oath forthwith.

  He said right after the Benghazi attack happened that he was releasing all information as it comes in (Jon Stewart Show)….which was an outright lie! And now he is saying he “will” release information. This is the biggest cover-up since Watergate, only worse. He let four Americans die because he put politics before the safety of Americans. And he did it again by withholding information on the Petraeus scandal and the Iranian attack on our drone over international waters (an act of war)!   They can’t put forth the details of the incident because they haven’t been made-up yet. That is what these hearings are for, so they can build a story around the details that have already been discovered. Which is why Obama gets irritated at anyone who asks a question about what he knew and when he knew it and what his response was. It’s one more lie for which the narrative will have to fit.
  
  Does anyone of our leaders know anything? Seriously! I am thinking that perhaps someone had to tell Petraeus that HE had an affair cause with everyone else claiming plausible deniability I am surprised that he hasn’t come out and said that he didn’t know either.

Learn to ask a direct question without a lot of unnecessary build up. By explaining, and then asking the question, the President (or anyone else for that mater) is able to respond and discuss the fluff, and not the direct question. You should have just asked, “As Commander-in-Chief, did you issue any orders to try to protect their lives?”

  We need people who will stand and ask the tough questions phrased like the replies above mine. Although, i’m not sure how effective those will be considering how good the Obama administration is at dancing around them and not giving direct answers. Combine that with the media bias making it almost impossible for the truth to reach mainstream America, who, lets be honest, isn’t looking very hard for political news.

No, the President did not answer Ed’s question on whether he, the President, gave an order/orders. “Do everything you can…”, is not an order. Probably more like do everything you can but do not engage. Makes more sense that possibly Patraeus was ordered to tell his people to stand down….unfortunately, they violated orders and engaged. This scenario makes sense to me….so those darn guys who tried to save the ambassador really screwed things up for Obama and Clinton because of an agenda they needed to keep mum.

Any thoughts?
