Krauthammer to Obama: If Susan Rice Had Nothing to Do With Benghazi, ‘Then Why the Hell Are You Sending Her Out There?’

During a rare press conference on Wednesday, President Barack Obama defended Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice against intense criticism from Republican lawmakers who are demanding to know why she went on national television and blamed the Sept. 11 Benghazi attack on a YouTube video. The president said Rice had “nothing to do” with Benghazi and she was simply reporting on the information available at the time, therefore lawmakers should just leave her alone and deal with him.

Appearing on Fox News’ “Special Report” later on Wednesday, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer called Obama’s comments “indignant” and issued a scathing review of his explanation.

“He gives the strangest defense by saying she didn’t have anything to do with Benghazi,” Krauthammer said. “OK, then why the hell are you sending her out there? Why didn’t you send out the Secretary of State or the CIA Director or Panetta or somebody who did know?”

Charles hit the nail on the head. Obama was playing Lancelot, Defender of Women, a totally inappropriate, theatrically macho, puerile reaction in this situation. The time he spent on noisy, false indignation was a waste of precious presser time (perhaps deliberately wasteful) that would have been better spent answering more questions. That Obama actually expects us to believe this pose is completely ridiculous. He’s been hiding behind the skirts of all kinds of people for the past 4 years so he doesn’t have to take the blame for anything. What a big phony!

  My question too, Charles. I wondered why this woman, Susan Rice, would get up one Sunday and decide to go on 5 Sunday shows to say essentially the same thing, unless it was a scam………..and was indeed supposed to distract us from the truth, as usual.   Alright, encinom is lapping up the spoon fed ignorance peddled by the admin. Here are a few things for you encinom. 1) On 09/10, the purported video that set the muslim world ablaze on 09/11, had garnered a whopping 17 total views. That tells me the maker’s friends viewed it and that was about it. 2) There are plenty of video clips of the various demonstrations. There is one glaringly common element in all of them. It is called daylight. The Benghazi attack BEGAN at 10:00 PM Benghazi time. Hardly a time when a massive protest is going to make good cover for an attack. 3) The Libyan government validated within hours of the attack that there had been NO demonstrations in Benghazi that day. 4) Mortars were used in the attack. A mortar is not something you just throw across your shoulder and walk across the country side with. It also isn’t something you just hastily throw up and start shooting. It takes some site preparation and then time to assemble the thing before you can even begin to start firing one. We are talking a minimum of 3 – 4 hours doing it in all haste. This shows the attack was premeditated, and not something spontaneous as the administration has tried to get people to believe.

With this Libya tragedy, he is following rule# 7: “Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues”….. They won’t answer questions believing it will go away sooner or later.

I pray the pressure on the prez and this administration doesn’t stop. It amazes me how they continue to insult the intelligence of the American people.

The President’s indignance is absolutely idiotic.
Ambassadors are reps of the President. Heck, just about anyone would have been a better choice (less connected to the President) than Rice.
Ambassadors are like WH “port-paroles,” their role is to speak for the WH.

The WH may be full of authoritarian ideologues, but they are not always that smart.
They count on the media to fool the people with cover-ups when they act stupidly.
Now they are trying to pretend that an Ambassador just decided on her own to go out and announce a bunch of lies…. yeah….

When Obama said he’d already offered his condolences to the families of those four killed, I immediately thought of the dead fish handshake and Hillary’s promise to get the video maker. You know, the shady character somewhere out in California.

To the families of those four heroes that lost their lives in the Libyan attack: With or without the POTUS we Americans are sorry about your loss of 4 great heroes and our prayers are with you to get answers for you and see that they are honored properly. God Bless you and thank you.

O-blame-a gets “offended” over being asked about this Benghazi tragedy . Eric Holder gets “offended” over being asked about Fast and Furious. Janet Napolitano gets “offended” when being asked about border security and Muslim extremists. Nancy Pelosi, today, gets “offended’ when Luke Russert asks her a good question about letting other people into leadership after too many Congress members are still in power after decades. We need to keep “offending” these people because that same old excuse is being used just to shut people up.

  Susan Rice was the one that pushed through the UN Security Council to go into Libya IN THE BEGINNING. It was Rice and Clinton that pushed 0 to go into Libya. The video was put out because of the UN Resolution 16/18 that Clinton signed. They are trying to make it against the law to say anything bad about Islam.
