‘That’s One of the Dumbest Questions I’ve Ever Heard’: Sen. McCain Responds to a Reporter’s Benghazi Question

Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C), and Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H) during a press conference on Wednesday called for an deeper investigation into the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans. But During the “Q&A” portion of that press conference, a reporter asked Sen. McCain whether he thought David Petraeus’ sex scandal posed a greater threat to national security than the Benghazi attack.

The Arizona senator was blunt and unforgiving in his response: “That’s one of the dumbest questions I’ve ever heard.”

“Senator,” the reporter began, “do you think there’s a potentially greater national security threat in, apparently, nearly thousands of pages of classified documents ending up on the personal computer of a Tampa socialite … do you think that’s a potentially greater national security threat than what we’re talking about?”

“Well, I say with great respect,” Sen. McCain answered, “that’s one of the dumbest questions I’ve ever heard. Okay? There’s four dead Americans. Four dead Americans. Not a socialite.”

“It’s certainly a national security issues, but it doesn’t rise to the level of four dead Americans,” he added.

Good for McCain. That is, indeed, one of the dumbest questions ever put out there. This is the idiotic mindset behind the media black out of Benghazi and the brutal murders of our 4 Americans. Unbelievable!

And stupid ‘reporters’ will continue to toss softballs to Obama because WE are allowing them to. Conservatives are nothing but nambly-pambly armchair internet debaters who can’t organize, who can’t get off their a55 and turn off American Idol to pen a letter to their representatives, who can’t demand that advertisers who support these news organizations and liberal mouthpieces stop supporting them, and so much more!

Liberal progressives are kicking our a55es and they will continue to kick our a55es until we quit being so damn lazy and start learning from them and their tactics and start doing the same. Being “nice” certainly hasn’t done a thing except put our country and our children and grandchildren’s future in more harms way.

Get off your couch, turn off your TV, put down your cheap beer, and PROTEST LOUDLY with your mouth, your feet, your money and your pen!

It is dumb, but probably an agreed upon talking point from the Whitewash House. Stress the sex scandal so that the whole inconvenient “bump” of Benghazi can get off the front page. It seems like every time the Whitewash House or one of its acolytes seems to give an answer to a question, it opens up another avenue of more questions.

It does matter because he and his FEW colleagues are out in front talking about this. If you removed LG and this senator, who else out there in the nation’s senate is speaking about this? Clue: nobody.

Now, given the fact that noboby has mentioned the removement of the Commanding General who placed anti-terrorist groups on alert DURING THE RAID/ACTION (his action not directed by higher authorities because that is what is expected of Spec Ops Personnel), it’s obvious to those who know how the system works within military operations that the event in Libya was an act of terror.

McCain is right in pursuing his course of questioning. It was a stupid question throughout to reorient the fish bowl. McCain is right in keeping on the administration to come clean. As a midgrade retired operative with a number of years in the middle east as well as combat tours, LIBYA STINKS with coverup. Nuf said.

Yes, every now and then he’ll say something that’ll be really awesome, but we need more than strong words from our political leaders. No one was making it about lady parts but them, they were asking the questions of obscure candidates and blew the answers all out of proportion and out of context. President Obama and Eric Holder are currently declaring war on the CIA and are trying to blackmail General Petraeus into silence.

Mr. O. is perhaps five times worse than anything Nixon ever did. Its reasonable to say you are on the right track with a lot of that, but still you paint a fantasy. First I would be shocked if Gen. P. reveals what many expect they’d hear, even if the worst suspicions are true. Second any serious charges against this president would spark riots in dozens of American cities and all sorts of dissenting “proof” rebuking the witness, the investigation, etc. The MSM and the radical left know how to make their own brands of trouble. I pray that there may still be an “invisible hand” to help us up there and there’s a reason for the election results. If so, the real trials of men’s souls will be just around the corner. If not, different trials of men’s souls are coming.

McCain might be a neo-con but knows how to stay focused.

    Kudos from a Lockean

Keep up the attack on this administration on all fronts…just focus fire on the one that has the greater chance of succeeding.

LONE, “McCain might be a neo-con…..” McCain is not a neocon by any measure, do you even know what it means?

McCain is a leftist jerkwad. He urinated all over his own service when he passed McCain/Feingold and told Americans that the Federal Government will rule them on who can and cannot say what when and where about politics.

News Flash. Senator McCain in today’s press conference on Benghazi attempts something that he never has in his entire political career. That is his attempt to finally show at the very least a tiny sliver of a back bone.

History is replete with folks who attempted to shine light on nefarious doings as they RETIRE, age, etc — these same people, most of them — spend their entire careers INVOLVED — MacArthur was one of the FEW, along with Patton who just did what needed to be done politics be damned… What the establishment gon’ do with OLD whistleblowers… cut short their young lives??? What if they didn’t have ‘family’ as a wedge issue? Me thinks back when TeJas had ‘Rangers…’ where are the ‘Rangers’ of today? Rakin’ in Federal $?

      RJINGGADSEN,
Sorry…,you are wrong. McCain HAS backbone!
Yeah…,his campaign was ill fated. He did become quite the marshmallow. But do you REALLY BELIEVE that he could have beat the “HOPE and CHANGE” fervor of President Dunham’s 2008 campaign?!
The G.O.P. could have run Superman as their candidate and “Clark Kent” would have been lost in the dust of an abysmally stupid majority of the electorate who would have STILL pressed the lever for OBAMA!
I watched the presser with McCain,Graham, and Ayotte.
The timeline of Benghazi and the reasons stated for an independent counsel were excellent

All those who comment here should be doing what McCain implored them to do. And that is .., DEMAND a select committee to investigate Benghazi.
Call your Senators and your Congressmen and DEMAND it!
White house congressional switchboard; (202) 224-3121

      Stop B*#TCHING! Start DOING!

Still posting from Wonderland. Down is up. Up is down. We’re painting the roses red. And as the Cheshire Cat said to Alice,”We’re ALL mad here”.

Just remember while you are all here busting on McCain….,We.., the American people are far more responsible for the first and second term of Barack Obama than Senator McCain will ever be.
We should be thankful that McCain and Graham (flawed as you may think they are) have stepped up to the plate to do the right thing.
We should be giving them back up…,not derision.

      Backbone?
      Are you kidding me?
You spend 5 years staying alive in that hell hole without ever letting his comrades or country down, Then, tell me about having balls. Give credit where it’s due, then you can talk.
The one thing he’s always been loud and ballsy about, is American lives, especially soldiers.

It’s all noise. There is but one true story that has not been fully vetted: the cover up of the White House in Benghazi. Let’s call a spade a spade and a traitor a traitor.

Is this some of that “social engineering” that supposedly lead to the re-election of the same old dud for president? I did notice the media took some notice when someone mentioned sex. Maybe we really don’t have a real media anymore, there all tabloids.

    The question should have been:
“Senator McCain, how effective and representative is the current GOP establishment”?
Then the answer, “That is one of the dumbest questions I have ever head” would have been the appropriate response.
    :(

John Elmer Fudd McCain, my Senator, has not changed. He simply “borrowed the balls” from Mia Love, Sarah Palin, or Michele Malkin. He will soon slip back into hunting that “Wascal Wabbit.”
