Is This Odd Clip of an Ex-Gay Preacher Really ‘a Gay Demon Exorcism’?
Exorcisms are known as religious events undertaken to remove demonic spirits from the individuals they are said to inflict. While there’s certainly a fair bit of debate surrounding the procedure, the situation becomes increasingly controversial when it is done in an effort to “cure” someone of same-sex attraction.
The practice of performing “homosexual exorcisms,” one that is certainly not mainstream, is not entirely uncommon either. Many media outlets have covered the often-times Pentecostal phenomenon and videos of the efforts are sometimes shared on YouTube (Details magazine did an interesting piece on the practice back in 2010).
Consider the Rev. Bob Larson, a preacher whoΒ claims to have performed thousands ofΒ exorcismsΒ over the past three decades (he’s also trained a troop of young women to do the same).Β Last month, Gawker posted a video of Larson performing a gayΒ exorcismΒ on a man who was allegedly possessed.
The clip, which is disturbing (and Gawker argues is also “exciting” and “hilarious”) provides a lens into the practice (caution: disturbing):
Manifested Glory Ministries, a ministry in Bridgeport, Connecticut, also found itself in hot water in 2009 after a 20-minute clip showing a 16-year-old boy being purportedly exorcised went viral. The video showed the boy convulsing on the ground, with the statements being uttered around him clearly showing that some sort of demon-letting-out ceremony was underway.
“Rip it from his throat!” one woman yelled. “Come on, you homosexual demon! You homosexual spirit, we call you out right now! Loose your grip, Lucifer!”
A portion of the clip is below:
Now another incident is making headlines after Gawker reported that Prophet Tejanni Campbell, an ex-gay preacher, performed anΒ exorcismΒ at a California church. While there are certainly some intriguing activities going on during his sermon, TheBlaze is not entirely sure that an exorcism isΒ occurring. Needless to say, Campbell’s story is interesting.
According to a bio published on Facebook, the Los Angeles native was “delivered from a life of molestation, homosexuality and emotional abuse.” Campbell believes that he is on a mission to “minister to the sexually abused and confused.” Today, the preacher is married and has six children.
A video that was posted on YouTube on November 8 shows Campbell performing what Gawker dubbed “a gay demon exorcism.” While the video was recently posted, it’s unclear when, exactly, it was filmed. In its title, the clip purports to show “a homosexual set free,” however this may merely be a reference to Campbell (who considers himself a “homosexual set free”).
Regardless of whether the opening scenes constitute anΒ exorcism (we called the church that hosted the event and we’re waiting for a reply), later on in the video,Β Campbell is interviewed byΒ Bishop Ernest Johnson, a California faith leader,Β and asked how gays can best be ministered to and relieved of their same-sex attraction.

“We draw them with love,” he responded. “We let them know that [if] God did it for me, he can do it for you…there’s nothing to hard for God.”
The preacher said that God is all-powerful and that he can deliver and save people from anything. Additionally, Campbell spoke against “casting” gays aside and encouraged believers to show love to the homosexual community. Despite these words, there’s no doubt that critics will be horrified by the ongoing use of these tactics.
As for his own evolution, Campbell credits the Lord, saying, “My change came when God just snatched me out.”
Watch the purported exorcism and his subsequent interview, below (interview begins around 11:00):
What do you think? Is the event going on in the opening scene an exorcism — or something else? Let us know in the comments section.

But nothing wrong with having authority figures to look up to but ppl better make sure they have their own ducks in a row and know and discern who they are following and they have their ducks in row also. Apostle Paul even said, imitate/follow me as i imitate Christ.

Posted on November 16, 2012 at 9:06amThis story tells us several things. One, the blaze picks up on stories no one else would publish for fear of being laughed at. Two, the story is only meant to rile up the gay haters and allow people to talk about some holly roller experience they think they had. Most importantly, by looking at the people in the videos and reading many of the responses, it is obvious why the most religious people are considered the most gullible, most superstitious, least sophisticated and least educated. Some of the participants in the videos are obviously mentally disabled by the way they look and speak. There are some obvious genetic disorders also. You should cringe when the blaze puts this nonsense up.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 11:42pmI had a friend from church who through numerous personal interactions gave me cause for concern. I called the lady at whose house he was staying and stated my concerns. When I hung up the phone, a demon entered the space of my apartment. I could not see it physically but instantly began praying in “tongues” spontaneously, loudly and began tracking this thing until it seemed cornered. Fifteen minutes of this and this unclean spirit was gone. I clearly heard God (thru Holy Spirit) say ” talk time is over, it’s time to take care of business”. I was instructed to go to the house where this friend was staying. I went. I entered the house & my friend began to approach me. I ask him to go sit on the couch. He did. I sat on a couch opposite him.The lady of the house got of the phone & sat next to me. Lets pray, I stated. We started. I looked at my friend & he was staring a hole in me. I looked at him and said “spirit of homosexuality”, Jesus Christ commands you to get off x (my friends name). He flinched. The lady of the house ask if i felt the house shake. I had not. It did, she said. I walked over to x, put my arm around him & ask the Holy Spirit to fill that void where that unclean spirit had been. Homosexuality is a “principality”, a high rank in the demonic realm. This is the only time to date I have been asked by Jesus to participate with Him as relates to this specific unclean spirit. Others have also occurred, including having demons removed off of my spirit. In Chri

Posted on November 19, 2012 at 9:05amIt has been a great tool of satan to convince people that demon possession is NOT possible and does not take place. Since I believe the Word of God, not one place does it say that demon possession ended in Bible times. Since I have personally seen things that make be truly believe certain people had demon oppression/possession, I know that this is possible. The Bible clearly says that there is another world that we are not aware of – things unseen…angels and ‘principalities of the air’, demons…and satan wants to make sure that these things are laughed at and not believed. However, those of us who study the Bible and truly follow Christ know the ‘rest of the story’….

My friends and I would go to visit the elderly homes and one day when we were visiting we came into a room where there was a women in her late 60′s laying on the bed in the most peaceful state She was in a coma. So not knowing what to do we prayed and then we started to leave. As we were leaving the Holy Spirit impressed upon me to turn and say to her “we will speak to you next week when we return” what happen next was shocking to say the least. The women turned her head and looked at us and in a man’s voice said, “We will see about that”. and then immediately went back to that peaceful comatose position. We looked like Larry,Mow, and Curly. The rest of the story you wouldn’t believe if I told you. Another time I watched my brother get delivered of a spirit of addition of crack cocaine. My parents didnot want to be there but came home just as it was taking place. They saw the spirit come out. My parents are Babtist and my dad says to this day, I don’t care what Babtist say demons are real I saw them come out of my son. My brother is the Pastor of two asisted living homes today. As far as dealing with spirits, Jesus at no time asked demons questions, he told them to hold there peace or “SHUT UP AND COME OUT” In reference to the man in the tombs Jesus didnot ask the demons there name he asked the man his name A man with an argument is never at the mercy of a man with an ex

Posted on November 17, 2012 at 7:09pmThey are surprised because the church did a poor job of teaching the scriptures. They eliminated the supernatural side and watered it down to suit the average person. The church doesn’t even talk about speaking in tongues because it might offend someone. But the fact is that Mother Mary and the apostles all spoke in tongues in the upper room. You do not hear any of that. So when you hear about this story, people are shocked. I am not saying this was a real example of exorcism, but if it was people would not take it seriously. They probably would take a medium more to heart than this.

I look at photos of that guy who shot up the theater in Aurora and his eyes are cold and empty like a dead man and yet he walks about and does evil things. I’m sure you have studies to back that up, yes? Almost always being 90+% of gay people were molested? Sorry to rain on your parade, but you will never find anything to support that statement. You will never be able to find anything saying 50+% of gays were molested. Because kids who were molested don’t turn gay, and gay people aren’t all molested. And I’m sure your degree in any field of science gives you an idea on how biology works? Not everything follows Mendelian genetics. And not everything that is already determined by birth is genetic. That’s why “genetic” and “congenital” have different meanings.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 8:15pmMost modern churches aren’t equip to deal with demons. Their new modern bible perVersions take out necessary verses that deal with casting out devils.
“When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”
What does Mark 9:29 say in your Bible?
Many of the new bible versions take out references to fasting. Fasting was done and encouraged by Jesus and his disciples. Fasting is a form of worship and discipline. We empty ourselves of the lusts of the flesh and world, humble ourselves before God and focus only on the things of the Lord. Fasting and prayer helps us to have a clean spirit, sound mind, and pure heart.

But this cultural “play acting” that you see in many cultures could be useful. The person is a given an excuse for his action & if he stays within the norm for the culture, he can hold his head up high in that culture.
Society will say it was not all his fault, he goes thru this kabuki theatre & all is forgiven, so long as they stay on the straight & narrow.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 5:44pmThere are deeper things hidden from our eyes that men do not understand. There are demons and they do possess men that have never known Christ. These demons can whisper and cajole those that would be swept away into whatever sin they are the most easily influenced by.
Some people just do not believe that Jesus really did confront and cast out demons. I believe every word of the bible and know without a doubt that Jesus did those things. Why would I be skeptical of this group doing the same? It is a dangerous effort not for the feint of heart. It requires Jesus in our hearts. And that we would be prayed up and prepared for the battle and multiple saints in union can rid men or women of demons. But it requires that Jesus is the replacement to that emptiness because without the inviting in of the Holy Spirit of God it will not be too long before the demon comes back with even more evil spirits to afflict with. Ever heard of Legion?

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 5:25pmMaybe it’s time that people simply take responsibility for their own actions and choices rather than try to blame their weaknesses on demonic possession.
Everyone is tempted with different sins and everyone can choose right or wrong. If one chooses to sin, then they are held accountable for that choice, they can’t blame it on a demon.
This just seems like a way people are trying to place the blame for poor choices on something other than themselves. Rather than faking an exorcism, maybe they should look into repentance through the atonement of Christ.
Just my two cents. :)
