Some More Good Econ News: Colo. Gun Store Owner Claims Sales Have Quadrupled Since the Election
Current TV’s Cenk Uygur earlier this week spoke with a Colorado gun shop owner who claims his business has seen an enormous uptick in sales since the re-election of Barack Obama.
“We’re selling 24 to 28 guns a day, and normally we only sell six or eight guns a day,” said Dragon Arms owner Mel Bernstein. “Thank you, President Obama.”
“As I look at that, it looks insane to me,” Uygur said, “what the hell are they using these guns for?”
“They’re buying them for an investment and a collection” Bernstein responded, referring to his customers, “They’re a lot of fun to shoot. Guys that were in Vietnam, you know, when they came back, want to have an AK-47, you know, just to hang on the wall as a souvenir.”
“They’re buying them for reasons like that and they’re buying them for investment and collection,” he added.
Uygur didn’t seem to believe Bernstein.
“Investment,” the Current TV host laughed. “Look, Mel, do these guys … do they really believe that Obama is going to outlaw these things? I mean, he hasn’t said word one about that!”
“Well, look at what President Clinton did 15 years ago,” Bernstein responded, “he … stopped all the assault rifles into the United States for 10 years — these walls in back of me were empty for 10 years (unless I want to sell Walmart guns).”
Exit Question: It is just us or does Cenk Uygur look slightly intimidated by the size and scope of Mr. Bernstein’s arsenal?

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 11:28pmYep and this weekend is the 5th show of The Nations Gun Show in association with the NRA.
Love living in Virginia – first moved here in ’02 when there was only 2 shows – ’08 it increased to 4 shows – 2010, ’11, ’12 up to 5 – Next year 6. http://www.thenationsgunshow.com/
This is just a few miles from home, and the bourse floor is rather occupied each day of the show.
If you are in the Dulles Airport area of Chantilly VA, stop in at the show.
NRA Museum is but 5mi west and the museum always has displays at this show.
This from their add: In a special traveling exhibit that incorporates some of the NRA collection’s finest handguns and rifles – definitely “Magnums” will be the theme. “Dirty Harry’s S&W” – the .44 used by Clint Eastwood in his films Dirty Harry and Magnum Force – Clark Gable’s Registered Magnum
Go by the National Firearms Museum table and see a Holland & Holland .700 Nitro Express double rifle. ever seen a double barreled bolt-action rifle? This 8-shot .416 Magnum rifle was made with titanium for much of its composition.
Maybe more classic magnum revolvers are your speed and we’ve also included an ivory-stocked Colt Python .357 revolver and a scoped .454 Casull single-action to keep you going.

If you think sales have surged this past year, wait for General Petraeus’ testimony in a little more than an hour from now.
Petraeus is going to have to explain why he lied the first time around. If the General tries to sell the same old Obama-inspired “the video made them do it” mantra, folks will be flooding the gun stores.

In the context of the Constitution, phrases like “shall not be infringed,” “shall make no law,” and “shall not be violated” sound pretty unbendable, but the Supreme Court has ruled that some laws can, in fact, encroach on these phrases. For example, though there is freedom of speech, you cannot slander someone; though you can own a pistol, you cannot own a nuclear weapon.

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.” George Mason, in Debates in Virginia Convention on Ratification of the Constitution, Elliot, Vol. 3, June 16, 1788
“The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves… all men capable of bearing arms.” Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republic, 1788 (either Richard Henry Lee or Melancton Smith)
“Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American… The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People.” Tench Coxe, 1788
“And that said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress… to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms…” Samuel Adams, in the Philadelphia Independent Gazetteer, Aug. 20, 1789

There is no language in the constitution saying that the people have a right to keep and bear arms EXCEPT when it comes to weapons of the military such as cannons ect…The people understood that language to mean that whatever the best “arms” were at the time, they still had a right to access and keep them and use them. Today? No one needs a rocket launcher eventhough it would be really fun to go shooting with, but we have a right to be just as well equiped as our military. No Keaton, Jefferson wasn’t shooting 11 rounds per second, but he knew that there would be advances in technology as always and still he did not include any language restricting what citizens could “keep and bear”.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 10:46pmSome of us have had our collections since the early 70′s when Nixon was going to collect all the guns and shoot all the hippies. Stocked up on ammo. Then there was also the coming New Ice Age, so we stocked up on Arctic gear, food and ammo. Then Clinton came along and was going to collect all the guns and all the conservative Patriots. Stocked up on ammo. Then Global Warming became a big deal. Stocked up on shorts, sunglasses and sun screen. Then Obama came along. We had a bona-fide Communist takeover of our government. He will collect anyone who is not a DNC Party Member (Democratic National Communists). We have been invaded by Meskins and I-Slammers. They can’t decide if it’s Global Warming or Climate Change. Don’t need to stock up on anything. When do we get to start shooting? It is a never-ending BAFFLE.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 9:51pmWe will not be infringed, simple as that. BHO is a liar who is biding his time, his past speaks to his stance on gun rights and any true American with one once of patriotism knows he’s a rat and guttersnipe.

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 9:49pmSince Obama became president I have added to my collection a 12 ga shotgun, and then since this summer I have added an AR15 with scope and red dot sight, a semi auto .22 and then weeks before the election a 9mm Semi Auto. I also have in stock now several thousand rounds of 22, a thousand rounds of 9mm, and fifteen hundred of 223 ammunition. I also joined the NRA. I know for a fact that if O’bummer had not been elected to begin with I most likely would never had purchased these weapons. That said, I have spent a lot of range time since this summer becoming highly proficient with all these. I also admit that target shooting with them is a complete blast.
Knowing that unrest can be just around the corner, I plan on being prepared.

I know I am way behind in my preparations. Working hard now to increase my stock of hollow point and defensive rounds. I’ve always been in good shape with Food Stores.
I don’t trust where Obummer is taking us, and the road we are traveling is sure to be bumpy. The good news is that the Lord has promised how it all will end. We might not like the path, but in the end the powers of righteousness will prevail.
