Greg Palast Warns Bankers at Occupy Offshoot Event: Tonight We Will Pay, But Tomorrow We Will Slay

Self-proclaimed “progressive investigative journalist” Greg Palast on Thursday night warned “banksters” on behalf of Occupy supporters, “tonight we will pay, but tomorrow we will slay.” He delivered his remarks at an event dubbed “The People’s Bailout,” a variety show and telethon to benefit the “99 percent.”

In addition to his very clever and thinly veiled threat, Palast explained that Republicans tried to “steal” the election this time around. Apparently, they did a very poor job of it.

“The election, they tried to steal it last week,” he said. “But they didn’t steal it until yesterday. If you watched [them] walking, crawling, slithering, sliming into the White House; JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, the whole group of slugs and leaches and blood suckers to come in to talk about what we should do to save America.”

“And you could feel the creditors, the people who say that we owe them, you could feel them crawling up the president’s body and all over his face. So all I want to say to you Mr. President, there is a cure. When you have bankers sucking your blood, you peel them off and you put them on the ground and you…”

“Stomp!” the crowd shouted back.

According to his website, Palast is a freelance journalist for BBC and a former writer for the Observer in the UK. The event he was speaking at was organized by a group called Strike Debt. The group claims to “want an economy where our debts are to our friends, families, and communities — and not to the 1%.” Apparently, they ask for donations then buy people’s debt and cancel it, according to their website.

Strike Debt is, however, an “offshoot” of Occupy Wall Street. Like many OWS groups, Strike Debt has no information about its leadership, organization or funding listed on its site.
