Chris Christie Scrutinizes Romney’s ‘Gifts’ Remarks: You Can’t Be a Leader & Be Divisive
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Friday distanced himself from former presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s “gifts” remarks, making him the latest in a growing list of Republican leaders to do so.
“You can’t expect to be a leader of all the people and be divisive,” said Gov. Christie when asked by the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” whether he agreed with Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.), who was the first to push back against Romney’s comments.
“You have to talk about themes, policies that unite people. And play to their aspirations and their goals and their hopes for their family and their neighbors. And I always think this is scapegoating after elections. When you lose, you lost,” said the New Jersey governor.
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough asked Christie whether he thinks it’s time for Romney to move on.
“That’s up to him,” Gov. Christie responded. “Listen, Mitt Romney is a friend of mine. I understand he is very upset about having lost the election and very disappointed,” adding that he’s a “good man.”
“Do I wish he hadn’t said those things? Of course. But on the other hand, I’m not going to bury the guy for it,” he added.
Romney during a conference call with top donors accused young voters, women, and minorities of voting for Barack Obama because he offered them “gifts,” TheBlaze reported yesterday.
“It’s a proven political strategy, which is give a bunch of money to a group and, guess what, they’ll vote for you,” said Romney.
“What I would do if I were a Democrat running four years from now — I’d say dental care ought to be included in Obamacare,” Romney told donors,” he added.
He continued:
What the president did is he gave them two things. One, he gave them a big gift on immigration with the DREAM Act amnesty program, which was obviously very, very popular with Hispanic voters, and then number two was Obamacare … For a home earning — let’s say $30,000 a year — free health care, which is worth about $10,000 a year, I mean it’s massive, it’s huge. So this — he did two very popular things for the Hispanic community.
When asked about these comment, Gov. Bobby Jindal said that they were absolutely wrong” and that “we have got to stop dividing American voters.”

Mitt’s message was spun to make people react to a threat that Mitt Romney’s smaller Government message would take away what they already get. Listen to what Single Unmarried Women talked about,The Loss of Abortion on Demand, lose of Birth Control and somehow being Miraculously transported back to the 1950s.
Obama crafted his message that to vote for him he would make sure not only would you keep on keeping on but you will get more.

Idiots as yourself ( which I used to be one), can’t manage to recognize that while Johnson may have to tell you a nice fairy tail about never-never land, promising a existence about as possible as the world the “flower children” pipedream about. The truth, is Johnson would have been slaughtered by the media the second he is appeared even a smudge of threat. As a matter of fact, wasn’t he trying to run off the republic primary and get run off the stage ?? SAy what you want about Romney, but he had dealt with the heavy arm of liberal media in Mass. and tried to step through this as carefully as possible. WHy did he go that path ?? Because he knew, 47% of the people were getting hand-outs and taking a harder stand to the right would have destroyed him on 2 fronts, and the media would have run him off the planet as Satan himself, not Obama Clause.
BAck to the Christie Jindal comments, these men are pathetic, both of them. I know a number of typical Dems who are moving towards the conservative party because they are older and moving into reality.. Anyways, all them are driven away by people like Christie and Jindal, as they can’t understand why the party is treating Romney as they are. Maybe you should wonder that as well SOY, Romney doesn’t scratch backs, regardless of how you loon’s paint him. He wouldn’t promise favors, it’s not part of his DNA.

Somebody needs to let them know the country has been divided for a long, long time; at least since 2000 if not longer. ‘Free’ is very hard concept to combat, that’s the point Mitt Romney was making to his donors. They haven’t been through the ringer like Mitt has, so their words are hollow and empty. BTW, didn’t many Obummer voters buy the ‘it’s bush’s fault’ line. In addition to climbing the Santa Claus Hill Romney also had to fight Bolshevik Propaganda.

Mitt Romney needed to respond to his donors with nothing but honesty and that he did. I think the real truth is that the election was stolen and that George Soros had something to do with it. I will never believe that the American people chose to re-elect the worst president in our history. Most politicians are dishonest and will only say what will self-promote themselves in preparation for getting ahead or reelected.
The GOP lacks the needed leadership to make an impact for the next election. Unless they grow up and get people who have the best interest in America first….we’ll just be second best next time. The indications that the USA has lost its principles of our Founding Fathers makes me sad. Posted on November 19, 2012 at 3:33amNo, what Romney said was true. As Rush Limbaugh said “you can’t beat Santa Claus” and Obama is Santa Claus with buying votes of minorities and 3rd world immigrants. You aren’t supposed to point that out now though. The Democrats ran a scare campaign. I asked a woman friend why she voted for Obama and she said “I want control over my body.” People are now one issue voters. Women voted for Obama so they can keep having abortions. Blacks voted for Obama because he’s black. Immigrants voted for Obama for free healthcare. “Chosen people” voted for Obama because they support degenerate, leftist causes. Unions voted for Obama because they are communists. The Democrats are all things to anyone who isn’t a white male. White males are the enemy of the Democrats. So I can’t blame all these minorities wanting freebies from whitey, but I have a problem with whites that voted for him. They are traitors. They know they are voting for the party that considers them their enemy, but voted for him anyway.

We’ve overdone the LBJ social welfare to the point that those with no self esteem will try to find work or supplemental work to help out (or they’re making money on the side and drawing welfare too)
I’ve seen some of the shams. Some guy, divorced from a well paid employed wife, is on welfare and goes to food pantry, gets more than he needs, then shares all the extra cheese, butter, etc. with his employed wife who doesn’t need all of it and shares it with her friend who draws a large pension from her past employment. Posted on November 16, 2012 at 12:40pm@Soybomb,
While I agree Romney is not a small government hard right conservative, he was the clear choice in this election. It is not about the lesser of two evils, Obama has beliefs in policies that have not worked and will continue to not work for 4 more years. Now we are stuck with that fate. I sincerely hope that there are not enough conservatives who sat on their hands out there because they didn’t feel Romney deserved their vote. A sin of omission is still a sin. If you sat by and watched this reelection happen then you may as well have voted for Obama.
Any voters out there who voted for Johnson or some other candidate, unless you have a mental condition, you knew that the only person with a chance at victory was Romney. So your vote may as well have been for Obama, so for the next 4 years, as far as I am concerned, your President won and you should be nothing but happy. I voted for Romney but did not think he had a chance of winning. I live in Oklahoma and the bigotry towards Mormons is very real and widespread. I believe that our country is now more bigoted towards those of other faiths than we are of those of other races. So, in my mind, Romney was doomed from the beginning.

Posted on November 16, 2012 at 12:54pmSorry RLTW, my post to Soybomb was meant to go one comment down. I am sure I clicked the right reply box, but maybe not. Either way, your comment is 100% true. Obama won by dividing the country then galvanizing enough numbers to win the election. Basically told the nation Republicans hate women, immigrants, minorities, and poor people. He community organized himself right back into the White House with arguably the worst first term record in history.
If you think about it though, it was a brilliant strategy. Think about all the statistical analyses that were run in order to determine the best way to attack the republican party. One thing is for sure, the Obama campaign did what they are paid to do. Get a losing candidate a victory. Either they are really good or Americans are really stupid, or some combination of the two.

Posted on November 16, 2012 at 12:24pmSoybomb is an idiot. Romney would have done a great job.. He’s as qualified to fix this country as anyone who has ever run for the office. You’re probably just one of those bigots that doesn’t like his religion.

Posted on November 16, 2012 at 12:46pmThe first time Obama ran Springsteen wrote a glowing recommendation for him in Rolling Stone Magazine. The same magazine also printed a smear piece on Romney and his “magic underwear”. I no longer read Rolling Stone.
I know Bruce has some great music and has been in the business a long time, but anyone who gives Obama that much support is not someone I think very highly of. Christie called Obama to thank him for the meeting and cried like a little girl. He then gushed to anyone and everyone how great and Presidential Obama has been. This all comes right before election. Either Christie is a dumbass or purposely sabotaged Romney, wanting to run for President himself in 2016.
Either way, I will never vote for Christie if he is up for anything that I can vote on. He betrayed his party and a man he has endorsed, either through stupidity or for personal benefit.

This is a true statement. Since when did the truth become divisive. The problem with the GOP is that they have no balls. They’re all politically correct, intellectual, fat loads; in Christie’s case physical too.
This is why people stay home.

Posted on November 16, 2012 at 12:09pmIt’s so cute how Christie is trying to be loved by the Left.
I’m no Romney fan, but what he said here was accurate and concise and delivered without malice. Reality is a harsh mistress (just like the Moon!), Christie.
You should just go ahead and put a D on your name plate, kid. Once you start down the path of wanting to be loved and accepted by the Left, you’re pretty much a done deal.
