57 Percent of Americans Believe Israeli Attacks in Gaza Are Justified — But Democratic Support Is Shockingly Low

The ongoing Middle Eastern debacle between Israel and Hamas forges on. And while the chaos rages, a CNN poll published on Monday showcases where the American public stands. The majority of citizens — 57 percent — claim that Israel’s attacks on Gaza are justified. However, there’s one subgroup that sets itself apart from the rest in embracing the notion that the actions are not warranted: Democrats.

The CNN/ORC International poll also found that only one in four Americans believe that the attacks are unjustified. But the most fascinating data was found beneath the surface when analyzing subgroups’ perspectives. CNN Polling Director Keating Holland broke down the most noteworthy segment data.

“Although most Americans think the Israeli actions are justified, there are key segments of the public who don’t necessarily feel that way,” Holland explained. “Only four in ten Democrats think the Israeli actions in Gaza are justified, compared to 74% of Republicans and 59% of independents.”

These aren’t the only differences, though. Israel enjoys higher support among American men (13 percentage points higher) than women. Additionally, older Americans when compared to younger ones are also more supportive (by 15 percentage points, in fact).

As stated, nearly six-in-10 sympathize with the Israelis, with only 13 percent saying that they side with the Palestinians. An additional 11 percent of Americans fall on neither side of the conflict (with 13 percent claiming that they have “no opinion”).

According to Holland, the low figure for Palestinian support is nothing new, as the proportion has never extended beyond 18 percent since the question was first asked in 1988.

Results for this poll were collected via telephone from 1,023 adults between November 16 and 18. The sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

The word Democrat equates a screwede up point of view on most situations. They are always in favor of the bad. The left are so far left that they are running in circles. As for Israel, they dislike them and Obama does too but puts on a good show. A democrat is not a problem solver but a stumbling block to progress and solutions.

  Politicians follow the money. The Islamist lobby is giving more money than the Jewish lobby. The broadcasters are terrified of a Muslim backlash. A “news” person can be accosted or threatened for presenting any information that doesn’t cast Muslims in a positive light. The Jewish vote for Obama was down to 60% but Jews are mostly liberal and can’t consider voting for a Republican.

Per capita Israel develops more technology and innovative products than any country including the US. Maybe you won’t miss Israel, but much of the world would. Well of course the “born again” segment of our country support Israel. They support the Jews in Israel as long as:
1. The Jews do their part to fulfill the evangelical christian’s fantasy of Armageddon, as per the christian philosophy of Christian Zionism, whereby which the Jews are just pawns in the end of the world scenario and save the Holy Land for the evangelical christians, after which they are forcibly converted or die.
2. They kill all the Muslims. Since the Islamists are the primary competition for domination of the world.

I’m not surprised this isn’t getting more traction. The Political Left likes to feel like they are working for the underdog and the oppressed. The only people oppressing the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are other Palestinians! They throw rockets into Israeli towns, provoking an Israeli military response as it should, and everyone screams about the poor Palestinians (whose militants are hiding behind their women and children).

  The “Jewish” nation is plagued with self hatred and a fear of non-Jews in the form of Christians (it goes back to the whole crucifixion of Jesus issue). Jews really don’t like Christians. Pres Obama is seen as not “too” Christian and very liberal.

I don’t see Israel attacking. They’re just firing back at the attackers in self defense. If they should confiscate all the rockets shipping from Iran, they should set them up an fire them into Gaza, all at once, and at indescriminate targets. That’s what the Palestinians plan to do if they get their hands on them.

Sooner or later, Israel will be forced to fight a war, and if they win, they may have to make an example out of the invaders, and fight to the end with absolutelly no quarter. The war will have to be fought like WWII, and if civilians don’t want to leave, they wll be caught in the battle. Much like Dresden, where the bombers never stopped coming until they wiped out everything.

It’s the people as a whole who want to kill Israelis, so the people as a whole must pay the price for the war they start. War is hell. Don’t start one and then complain when your enemy opens up with the big guns.

  Exactly how do foreign Jews just enter a region they don’t control and take people’s homes and businesses away? There were more Arabs than Jews, right? The true version of history is that the Jews came and purchased land using money from rich donors which they then settled and developed. The Arabs didn’t like foreigners settling amongst them and began harassing the Jews. Nobody lost their home or business. There were instances of Jews buying up land from landlords which resulted in Arab laborers losing their jobs, but they didn’t steal anything.

Say it’s okay to allow the destruction of the Jews in Israel now because of what happened before the vast majority of them were born? Are you going to stand by and watch the authoritarian, totalitarian Muslim states wipe out a people? That’s what would happen if we pulled our support and left them on their own.   The Palestinians have lobbed 1,600 bombs onto Israel in the past 11 months and they dare act like the innocent victims. Hamas hides among their women and children. They use them as human shields. Makes me want to puke.

  You do realize that its Democrats who oppose Israel the most, right? You know, the same Democrats that vote for handouts, class warfare, and government intrusion into the private sector. The people who don’t think for themselves but only regurgitate what their told. Those people are the ones seeing through propaganda? Most of them still can’t tell the difference between what’s true about Republicans and the Tea Party and what the MSM said was true. Your going to trust THEIR viewpoint.
