‘Clear, Statistical Evidence’: 130 Scientists From Iowa Schools Blame Recent Drought on Climate Change

Scientists From Iowa Colleges, Universities Blame Global Warming for Drought | Climate Change

(AP File Photo)

(TheBlaze/AP) — More than 130 scientists from Iowa colleges and universities say this year’s drought is consistent with a warmer climate predicted as part of global climate change, and that more droughts should be expected.

Scientists and researchers from 27 Iowa colleges and universities signed the Iowa Climate Statement released Monday, which claims global warming causes wet years to be wetter and dry years to be dryer. Those extremes lead to more flooding and drought, which Iowa has experienced both in recent years.

The state was particularly hard hit this year when drought spread across two-thirds of the country.

Reuters relates:

Christopher Anderson, the assistant director of Iowa State University’s climate science program, says there is “clear, statistical evidence” that extreme high temperatures are happening more often than extreme low temperatures in Iowa.

“Since 1981, the likelihood of severely wet springs has more than doubled. What was once a one-in-10-year wet spring is now occurring two to three times in every 10 years,” he said. “Yet 2012 reminds us that dry summers can still happen. The 2012 July and August statewide rainfall was the lowest since 1976.”

Jerald Schnoor, co-director of the University of Iowa’s Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research, said state policymakers should use 2012 climate data to make new decisions, like doubling wind energy production and using methane from livestock manure and city sewage treatment plants.

“We have confidence in recent findings that climate change is real and having an impact on the Iowa economy and on our natural resources,” Schnoor said.

The scientists say warming will continue as global emissions increase and greenhouse gases accumulate, and that action is needed to prevent more natural disasters.

The statement urges: “Iowa should lead innovation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improve resilience in agriculture and communities, and move towards greater energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy.”

These clowns better hope they are not trying to get a job as an engineer. There’s these things called “data points”. Let’s say that we Creationists are right about the earth’s age than that data sample would be 0.516% sample. If the evolutionists or old earthers are correct, then the sample is .00000016% sample. Hardly able to predict a trend off of that sample.

Earth’s Climate is currently warming just like it does every 10,000 years or so, in it’s normal cycle.

Methane gas rises into the atmosphere from plants and animals decay and farts- normally, like it has for 800 million years.

Volcanic eruptions, and normal venting from below earth’s surface kick up billions of tons of various gases like sulfur and others like oxides of nitrogen. Co2, etc. far exceeding all the engines and power-plants of man-kind combined.

The “emission of lies” from Marxists “greenies” who want to control your energy usage is still prolific, and increasing in their “Warming” rhetoric.
The planet is continuing to behave normally, indifferent to mankind’s tiny greenhouse gas emissions contributions.

The MilkeyWayGallaxy is an EXPANDING system. You do Not get warmer by walking away from your ownly source of heat/energy!! As the plannets fly towards the “exit”, they “wabble” in their non-perfect orbbits. This has happened about a billion times in earth’s history. The plannets and moons “wabble” on their axcis’s every so many rotations(days,yrs,centuries,etc..)! BUT ALL are STILL floating AWAY from their SUN=ONLY HEAT SOURCE. There are only “less-cool” times which appear to a civillization (only maybe 1million years-old) as warming and cooling times…the same as happens when day goes into night only much slower and less frequent. “TheWorld is at an END!!” because of seeing an ECLIPS for the FIRST time!!

I have here incontrovertible statistical proof that the drought last summer was caused by an overpopulation of client scientists in the midwest. All the heat generated by those uncontrolled thought waves caused a disturbance in the Force and confused the ether.

@ZAPPARULES: The Communist/global warming controllers are mandating “Environmentally friendly” non lead based bullets now. (Kill your enemy with respect for mother nature!)

This is laughable because lead can sit in water and not leach into it. It is a naturally occurring substance.

Lead based silver solder used in copper piping in homes, pose more of a threat for people to metal/toxicity contamination than lead fishing weights or bullets.

Junk science for sheeple to control them and ‘redistribute’ their cash to the needy like Al Gore.

Looks like a mini-version of THE DUSTBOWL IN THE THIRTIES. Every hundred-some-years tis happens because of EARTH-AXIS WOBBLE. Our “orbit” is ELIPTICAL and not “flat”-inline with the other pannetary-orbits. Thus, many variations occur in angles of receiving sun-energy.

Bull crap. I believe in climate change. It is a natural cycle that the Earth has gone through since the planet’s formation. It is the height of arrogance to think that man has changed that cycle. The so called science of Climate change is far from settled except in the eyes of left wing professors. As far as statistics, you can prove anything with statistics, all you hvae to do is manipulate the data. Of course the left would never do that, yeah right!

You should know better than to cite the history channel, they regularly spin history.
      Try this http://www.english.illinois.edu/maps/depression/dustbowl.htm
The history channel is often fictional historical commentary, they state things like all the American founders were deist and so on. Even using university archives is questionable these days since they are liberal controlled, you must realize that the liberal agenda is to blame the entire dust bowl on man and poor farming practices. Sure man didn’t help by plowing up miles of land but man did not create a “desert micro-climate” as some texts suppose. Contour farming came out of that, and for the most part fixed the problem, at issue is what happened to all the reservoirs built by the army core, were there enough, because as I remember there was more than enough rain in spring to get them through the summer… I have to wonder if we can pump oil from Alaska how is it we can’t pump water from the Gulf of Mexico, The Pacific or the Atlantic? It’s not like desalinization is rocket science, you could use all that wind and solar to do the job right? Its more like um if I don’t irrigate, then I can declare a crop insurance failure…

Of course the climate changes. It always has. Ice ages, warming periods, droughts and on and on. Of course the real question is what causes it and is there anything man can do about it. However, the climate despots assume that because the first is true, then the cause is man and they are smart enough to fix it. These are the same idiots (or their trained successors) who thought in the 1970s that we would now be living in an ice age.

The extreme weather conditions in the mid-west have little to do with carbon dioxide or cow farts. Perform a Google search on “weaponization of weather” and “geoengineering”. An alternative view of hurricane Sandy can be seen at:

What do you expect them to do, go away and discuss ‘climate change’ quietly amongst themselves?

They won’t go away until you defeat them and marginalize them, Americans.

We all know the for the last 10,000 years humans have been on North America the climate was the same all 9850 years and never had wet year and dry year, all the same. Only in the 150 years has it changed to have wet years and dry years.
