When celebrities defend Israel, they typically face no shortage of criticism. Remember when pop singer Katy Perry tweeted that she was praying for the Jewish state back in 2011? She was met with a multitude of attacks from supporters of Palestine. With the current violence going on between Israel and Hamas, celebrities are, again, coming under fire for pro-Israeli sentiment. The latest targets: Kim Kardashian and Jon Lovitz.

On Friday, Kardashian, a reality television star, tweeted, “Praying for everyone in Israel.” Instantly, nasty responses followed her support for the Jewish state. From attacks against Israel to personal slurs against the star, the comments and proclamations were harsh to say the least.

“Further enhancing your reputation as a dumb porn star,” one read. A separate message alleged that Kardashian is a “disgrace” and that she needs to “educate” herself. One particularly vicious “fan” told the star “just kill yourself.” And yet another condemned Israel, claiming that the nation “will be destroyed along with all the Jews…” Here are just a few of the messages, as captured by Twitchy.

Recognizing that her initial tweet had caused furor, Kardashian followed the message up with another, which read, “And praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world!” But it was too little, too late. Following the social media chaos, the television star removed the tweets from her page.

The situation didn’t end there, though. Kardashian, feeling the need to address the controversy, took to her blog to explain why she sent the initial tweets and then deleted them. She wrote:

I want to own up to and explain that earlier today I sent out two tweets about saying prayers for the people in Palestine and Israel and after hearing from my followers, I decided to take down the tweets because I realized that some people were offended and hurt by what I said, and for that I apologize. I should have pointed out my intentions behind these tweets when I posted them. The fact is that regardless of religion and political beliefs, there are countless innocent people involved who didn’t choose this, and I pray for all of them and also for a resolution. I also pray for all the other people around the world who are caught in similar crossfires.

Comedian Jon Lovitz, too, caught fire for his support of Israel. But unlike Kardashian, he didn’t backtrack on his initial words. In fact, he doubled down, using expletives and fervency to drive them home (Lovitz has already been more than candid about his views on Obama and taxation). On Sunday, the actor took to Twitter, where he said that it is “very sad people are getting killed in the Israeli-Hamas conflict.”

However, rather than keeping his message vague, he followed it up with, “It’s also sad to hear Americans defend Hamas, a terrorist organization. Israel has a right to defend its citizens.” Reaction was swift, but so were Lotivz’s rebuttals (you’ll notice he promptly told one user, “You don’t know s**t.”).

Some Twitter users warned Lovitz that the left will retaliate for his pro-Israel sentiment. His response? “F**k ‘em.” Here are some of the other social media messages that the comedian sent to detractors (as collected by Twitchy):

If you ever wondered how a civilized and educated country like Germany could let Hitler rise to power and let the holocaust happen, well, we are seeing history repeat itself. Obama IS America’s Hitler. He refuses to back Israel and still hasn’t visited as our head of state. Yet, he manages to find time to visit every other corner of the globe. Wake up America!! We need to recall Obama and impeach him.

  Jew hatred has always been chic with the left. It is just now more socially acceptable to preach Jew hatred and blood libel in public than maybe in some years past. Often they attempt to use their “criticism” of Israel as a cover for their blood libel and lies and venomous bigotry.   Israel’s done some terrible things, and anyone who denies it is blind (often on purpose). That’s no reason to hate Jews or paint an entire group of people with a broad brush of conspiracy theory like The_Jerk does. And the fact that Palestinians elected a recognized terrorist group (Hamas) for leadership doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in their judgment.
  
  I’ve always said the same thing: I support Israel no more and no less than any other US ally. If they act in a manner that hurts our interests, we should not support them.
  
  As for the celebs’ tweets? Eh, if I want interesting political opinion I’d look for someone a bit more knowledgable than Kim Kardashian or Jon Lovitz.

  @ the jerk- the reason Israel put a fence around the gaza strip is because Hamas and Islamic jihad were carrying out suicide bombings against Israelis. And they then uprooted 1700 Jewish families and forced them out of the Gaza strip so then it was under Arab control, and what do they do, they continue their terrorist attacts on Israel and hide behind children. Lovitz has my admiration for not backing down. I stand with Israel, Gods chosen and the only freedom loving people in the region. In 1967 Israel was attacked by numerous Arabian Countries, who, by the way, lost their attack, and Israel kept those land as a result of their WIN. Israel did not attack them, it was attacked, and prevailed!!!
  
  The Blockades were established because neighboring Arab Countries, having lost their attack, were smuggling Weapons, Bombs, and other War Materials into the country to attack Israeli Civilians, not the Israeli Military, but innocent Civilians.   The fact is that Isreal was promised to the Jewish nation in order for Biblical prophecy to happen, Isreal would have to once again be a nation, but God loves all people and so we should pray for everyone involved in this conflict. There are a lot of innocent people in Gaza that are suffering as well as in Israel. Unfortunately when Hamas fires thousands of rockets towards Israel, Isreal has the right to defend themselves. If America was fired on by one rocket we would retaliate immediately, Isreal has put up with hundreds before they retaliated.

  I don’t know what religion you are, but if you’re a Christian you should know that the Church is the New Israel. To drive this point home, the Temple was wiped out in 70 AD, and the political entity of Israel was destroyed. God went to the Gentiles and made them a new nation, a new Israel.
  
  The Middle Eastern country may bear then name “Israel”, but it has no claim on the reality that the Jesus’ body, the Church, is Israel as far as God is concerned.

  Factually untrue. The covenant was with the descendants of Abraham, not the followers of a religion called Judaism that was formed between 300-500 A.D.. I agree that people have been hurt on both sides of this ongoing conflict, but Israel has a right to protect it’s people. People forget the Holocaust and the fact that Muslim nations absolutely hate them and want them destroyed. I hate that innocent people in Gaza have been hurt, like I said, God loves them all equally.

It doubled the size of Israel which that tiny country sorely needed and still does. The Palestinians have a despicable, dishonest and base culture, yet the Jews treat them as if their ridiculous culture of hate and murder has any merit at all. Foolish. They should just push all of those war loving, blood lust dogs right into Egypt or Jordan. That goes for the West Bank too. The Palestinians already have a state. It’s called Jordan. Let the rest of them go there too and shut their big, vile mouths. I support Israel no matter how stupid they act and I support them forever. They are our only true ally and brother democracy in the “region” as they say. Any true American supports Israel. Anyone who favors the Palestinians is a moron and a loser of the 1st order. Israel is for Jews and those guests who love and support them, no one else. Oh, and Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel and Israel alone.

  the jerk- Israel still has a part to play, God is not finished with them yet as we can see with the fulfilled prophecy of Israel once again becoming a nation. They are descendants of Abraham, I don’t understand why you keep saying non-descendants. It is true that due to some inter-marrying the bloodline is severely diluted, but they don’t consider themselves Jewish anyways. Due to anti-semitism the bloodlines have stayed pretty pure overall. Just because time has passed doesn’t make them any less of Abraham’s descendants. Jesus was Jewish and He had a few Gentile relatives in his bloodline but it didn’t make him any less Jewish.

  These same Arabic Israel citizens do not want to lose what they have by coming under the domination of the various leaders of the Palestinians. There was no prosperity in that region before the reemergence of Israel.

  Oh regarding land for peace. I have not seen any reciprocation of peace from the Palestinians for all past land concessions made by Israel over the past 20+ years. Although Israel may have had some relief when the various Palestinian factions were fighting and killing each other.
  
  In the 1970′s Arafat and his Palestinians tried to take on the king of Jordan in which thousands of Palestinians died and these Palestinians then migrated to Lebanon. When these Palestinians grew in numbers by the 1980s they destroyed that country while murdering the indigenous Arabic Christians who had a peaceful and prosperous nation. Israel has been a “land of the Jews” since before 1000 BC. David was King of the Jews. The Jews had trouble with evil doers or “people who cast evil curses” all the way back to 1000 BC. Apparently the evil doers descendants are alive and well.

  One more thing for those of you posting who don’t know the true history of the Nazis and what they did to the Jews. During WWII, my dad served in the US Army. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and took part in the liberation of Dachau concentration camp in Germany. They didn’t liberate just Jews… they liberated other races too. The Nazis didn’t just exterminatemillions of God’s chosen people, they also did the same to Poles, Chechs, Slovenians, and Russians, among others. Dad took a lot of pictures. He also wrote down his story. But I leanre dthe truth in school. Sadly our history is being re-written. The Jews bought and paid for part of their land and they also fought a war to win back what was once their homeland to begin with. After you read Genesis, read the Book of Revelation.   I would like to refute your version of history, as you have asked the above commentators.
  Holocaust –
  Jews during the holocaust where being systematically murdered. At first the Nazi regime simply made their life miserable, via legislation and encouragement of anti-Semitic action, such as pogroms- basically lynch mobs specifically against Jews.
  Later, the regime decided to isolate the Jews, using ghettos. As a quick afterthought, they also decided to use them for forced labor – as well as German political enemies, gays, gypsies and crippled.
  Finally, when they realized that they don’t have what to do with all those people, they decided to simply get rid of them. For the Nazis it was as easy as crushing a cockroach – what’s a cockroach for a human? Whats a Jew for an Aryan?
  
  Speed forward – 1948, WWII has already ended. The state of Israel is recognized in the UN, with borders much different than today – without the west bank, the Golan heights, and most of the Negev desert to the south (on the west coast of which sits Gaza).

  RJ : Even though the 1500 page paperback “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” is a ponderous and sometimes depressing read it is loaded with every detail worthy of note about that evil regime…I suggest everyone read it …the parrallels between that regime and this current one are striking and frightening.   The Jews that received the state of Israel didn’t land there the day before. They where settlers from many time periods, from as far back as the ottoman empire (first Aliyah – Settlement of Israel in Hebrew – 1880 to 1904), during the British mandate of Palestine and continuing in waves even to this day. So this is to refute any claims of “They took Palestinian homes, lands, and businesses, then placed those families into ghettos”, at least in the year of ’48.
  Any Arab residents of the time (they haven’t started referring to themselves as Palestinians until after the war of ’67) where allowed to remain and live as residents of Israel.
  However most chose to flee, but not from the Israelis – from the armies of the surrounding nations of Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon, who attacked THE NEXT DAY of the declaration.
  The war that ensued is called the war of independence in Israel.
  
  Forward to ’67 –
  The surrounding powers have regained their military strength after the losses of the last 2 decades, and even surpassed it. They meant to attack Israel and in one decisive blow erase it from the map.
  But thanks to good intel and bad timing by it’s foes, Israel stroke first and one the war in 6 days.
  During the war it capture the 3 regions I have mentioned above as excluded from the initial declaration, as well as the Sinai peninsula, Which was later returned to Egypt in exchange for peace – which still lasts.

  The newly acquired regions remained under Israeli martial law, until the Sinai peninsula was returned and the annexation of the Golan Heights.
  The Israeli strategy was to secure a Jordanian influence in the west bank, and eventually also in the Gaza strip. The problem was that the residents of the region were violent and conflicted violently with the IDF – Israel’s Defense Force.
  So the Israeli policy was to avoid contact with the populace, and punish violence with curfews and other such non-violent punishments.
  But of course, enmity from both sides could not be contained easily, and several violent incidents did occur – murder of Jews by Palestinians and the opposite.
  The thing to notice is that Israel as a state did NOT fence away the residents or took their jobs and homes. They were allowed to freely operate in their own regions (west bank and Gaza), given that the IDF could secure main transportation veins in case of war. On top of that the residents of the above regions could enter Israel, with the condition they where checked for weapons – after all, civilians where the ones attacking.
  Another note – The murder of Palestinians did not go unpunished by Israel authorities, and carrying weapons is illegal for citizens of Israel as well, not only Palestinians.

  Things don’t change much..
  The powers that be on the college campus today; the administrators blocking any speech in support of Israel, or the church, or anything you would consider decent; are the 60′s flower children who have aged and are now holding the reins on campus. The protesters for free speech in their youth, are now the censors of free speech; if you don’t toe their idealogical line, then they will move heaven and earth to shut you down.

  Finally (1987), after enough sparks and friction the First Intifada “broke” – that is, Palestinian civilians attacked Israelis, bombed buses and so forth. These where the first days of the modern concept of terrorism.
  This spurred the IDF to act more aggressively for prevention, and more strict policies where adopted – but still no ghettos. To this day Palestinians are allowed to enter Israel.
  
  As for Gaza, it saw the rise of Hamas after the transformation of PLO (an older terror organization, led by the arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat) into the Palestinian National Authority.
  In 2005 an “experiment” (my emphasis) took place – Israel’s unilateral disengagement plan. It meant the total removal of the IDF from the Gaza strip. There is a “blockade” of Gaza, but no humanitarian crisis as many would like you believe. in fact Gaza is a booming city with commerce, hotels and more. The only things the blockade prevents from entering the strip are weapons.
  During the years since the disengagement, the southern region of Israel has seen rocket fires almost every day. Soldiers were kidnapped, terrorists infiltrated and murdered citizens, and more.
  The current fit of fighting is the second since 2005, but it was Israel who stood quite during the off-time. Hamas and other organizations kept firing.
  
  To conclude, the violent side of this relationship is the Palestinian. Israel IS defending itself, and is not being racist or reminiscent of Nazism in any way.

  And when you read religious history from the Bible you will know why there is the hatred of the Jews and until God removes that judgement and he will it will be there.
  
  And to be straight if you read the history of Modern Israel and how it came to be you will find out that Jews have always lived in this area of the mediterranean since Italy conquered the area in the BC. God used that to give the Jewish Religious Elite a chance to repent and serve God, they failed and you see what we now have today.
  
  There was never a land called Palestine until the British called it that when they ruled it until 1948 and when you look at those maps you will see that “Palestine” is what is now modern day Jordan and southern Syria. The lands that the UN “carved” out for the Jews were determined to be those lands that they had occupied in the days of Moses etc. Those lands made up what was around 25% of what they have today. The Arab Elite of the day rejected that and the Balfour agreement because it would allow EU Jews to immigrate and they did not want that to happen.

  Jerk – You should read your history. In Israel’s war of Independence, after the state was voted in by the UN, the Arab nations told the Arabs to leave their homes. The Arabs believed they would win the war and get their homes back for the locals. Fortunately the Arabs lost. They tried again in ’56, ’67 and ’73.
  Too bad Arabs Muslims have such hate for the Jews. As Prime Minister Golda Meir said ‘until they love their children more than they hate Jews there will be no peace’. Using children to deliver terrorist bombs to kill others is most despicable.

  There has never been a nation called Palestine. There is no such history for a people who call themselves palestinians. Ancient Israel was renamed by the romans to be the region of palestine. No state or nation. Just a form of psychological abuse. Peolpe from the day of the romans to 632 AD in the palestinian region were predominately jews. Even after Jerusalem was conquored by islam, there were still jews living in this region. Once islam invaded the region became desolate with the exception being a few city-states, such as Jerusalem. Even under Ottoman control the region was inhabited predominately by a relatively sparse existance of jewish and arab farmers and the occassional nomad tribe.
  These so called palestinians you see today are an outcast of egyptian, iranian, turks, transjordinians, syrians, saudis, and other arabs of the middle east. They were predominately a cheap labor force used by the arab nations. They went were the money was. When jews in the mid 1800′s started buying swampy desert land, this work force was hired by jews to help reclaim the land from the wild. Even then they did not call themselves palestinians. That term often refered to jews in the late 1800′s through the 1930′s. Still, there is no one with a palestinian passport. The arabs in the region have passports from their home nation to include the newly formed nation of Israel, in 1948 by UN Resolution.

  THE_JERK, Try reading some other history then. Although it was not called Israel at the time. In 1830 a large group of Russian and European Jews purchased the land mass that later became Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait from the actual land owners, the Ottoman Empire. No, there were no real settlements there at the time. Only a few roaming Bedouin tribes. WWI interrupted the Jewish movement and Post War Britain gave the land mass to the Arabic tribes who moved into the area and assisted the British defeat of the Ottoman Empire. The Jewish leaders of their movement eventually relented regarding the land transfer, and it was they who recommended that the area be called Palestine. Never becoming a nation, it remained a British protectorate, much like Kenya.

Yet you’re holding Israel directly responsible for the actions of terrorists from before Israel’s founding. Israel was the one who put an end to those terrorist groups in 1948. The IDF actually directly fought Irgun in what is known as the Altalena Affair when Irgun refused to turn over command to the country’s new leaders. In contrast, neither Arafat nor his successor did anything to dismantle the various paramilitary/terrorist groups in the territories under their jurisdiction.

The interesting thing here is this: China has become more and more aggressive in recent weeks. They’re actively trying to provoke Japan into a shooting war. And the world doesn’t care. The western media and politicians are all focused on Hamas vs Israel. Sure, it’s a problem, but what do you think will come from it? Nothing. Eventually the shooting will stop, things will revert to how it was before Hamas went nuts, then in a few years, rinse and repeat. Repeat ad nauseam. None of this will ever trigger WW3. The region is just not important enough.

Meanwhile China’s rising aggression is the one thing that can actually trigger a large scale war. This can trigger WW3, just like it started WW2 (which didn’t start in Europe, read upon the 2nd Sino-Japanese war.) But hey, let’s ignore it. Western media, leaders and citizens are doing exactly that. Chinese “nationalists”, aka government agitators, are now claiming that even Okinawa is Chinese. But let’s ignore that and focus on a pseudo-war that’s really just a publicity stunt by Hamas and will lead to nothing.

Its ok, God is going to destroy our country soon, as it has already begun in case you havent noticed. As far as Israel all in Gods time,,,,but in the meantime the aggressors against Israel will pay a very very deep price! I suggest everyone in this country start praying for Israel if we expect any mercy or blessings from God on our country……
