Study: During Final Week of Campaign, MSNBC Provided Zero Negative Coverage of Obama & No Positive Coverage of Romney

A new study released by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism (PEJ) found that the Obama-friendly “news” network MSNBC ran zero negative stories about President Barack Obama in the final week of the 2012 presidential campaign. Additionally, the network also failed to provide any positive coverage of Mitt Romney during the same time period.

The Pew study also found that MSNBC’s coverage of Romney was much more negative than the mainstream media in general. The network’s coverage of Romney was reportedly 68 percent negative with no positive stories in the sample.

What kind of treatment did Obama get? Well, according to the study, the president enjoyed positive stories 51 percent of the time with no negative stories whatsoever in the final week of the campaign. To put that into perspective, MSNBC’s reporting was 33 percent positive and 13 percent negative for Obama from Oct. 1 to 28 this year.

During Final Week of Campaign, MSNBC Ran Zero Positive Stories About Romney, No Negative Stories About Obma

Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism

Fox News didn’t get off the hook for slanting their coverage in the last week of the presidential campaign either, though it wasn’t as pronounced as MSNBC. Per the PEJ report:

That week, when the media overall were more positive about Obama than negative, Fox News went a different direction and became more negative about him. From October 1 to 28, 4% of Obama’s stories were positive and 47% were negative (a difference of 43 points). In the final week, however, that tenor changed so that 5% of Obama’s stories were positive while 56% were negative-a difference of 51 points.

At the same time, when Romney was receiving negative coverage in the final week from the rest of the press, Fox was different; 42% of its segments about him were positive while only 11% were negative. This was more positive than the earlier part of October when 34% of Fox News’ Romney coverage was positive and 9% negative.

What he neglected to address was the ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of Philly and Clev n***s that voted for barry. I cant wait 3 years from now to see if he’s droolin on himself still. He was laughing at the states that want to secede and the sc*mb*g white pos that was his guest and the other mook said love it or leave it. As if the WHITES should leave. LOL

Oh, that just must have been a slip up. The news media aren’t the type to play games like that, are they?

Wholly in eye of beholder… The fact that msnbc could see 100%positive obama and 0%romney shows their spin is as one sided as one can get…. plus their perception is twisted if they could only see obama’s stagnation over the past four years as positive and romney’s business building ideas as negative…
Fox gave some perspective from both sides of the aisle as usual.
Then take in the msm headlines over the past years and see what slant they had… how they adored obama (sandy) and despised bush (katrina) for relatively same federal response to hurricane with some 157 vs. 200 dead. the only thing obama did better was ability to get on the news with more positive spin…
Look at benghazi coverup- how whitehouse obviously spun a defined tale designed to CYA over death of 4 americans and msm went right along whereas all the “scandal” regarding the vererie plame BS
    on and on and on…
    etc… etc… etc….
Bottom line is I’d say at least 5%of the vote was won by the msm for Obama… and now finally there is some alternative news sources that provide some balance- but they are (attempted) demonized/marginalized by the msm- but yet Foxnews is getting the best ratings… I wonder why?? Fairness speaks volumes

How come I’m NOT surprised??? Matthews, Maddow, Sharpton and all of MSNBC are marxist socialists in support of that watermelon-sucking Obammy in every sense of the word.

Did PEW define what constitutes a pos or neg story?
Isn’t it all ‘in the eyes of the beholder’?
Is reporting PaulRyan went to a soup kitchen and washed ALREADY CLEAN dishes for a photo op, a negative story.? Or just the truth – that he doesn’t really help out at soup kitchens.

The marxist left has almost taken over all of the media in this country. The nation needs a really conservative media. It needs an all conservative news agency and tv network. A network like that would swamp any other network. Look at the success of FOX news when it first started and it was just trying to be fair and equal. It now is getting more liberal than it was and that is why it is not as popular.

Maybe Obama just didn’t say as many stupid things as Mittens or change the positions he held only one week earlier,

This stuff would normally be front page news in the newspapers, if we had a credible news agency. So sad that it’s just the norm among “journalism” to the masses.

I wonder what journalism schools teach students these days. Clearly it’s not ethics, values, or responsibility.
