This Could Be the Most Athletic Fumble Recovery You See All Year
Greg Toler of the Arizona Cardinals likely earned himself a spot in the inevitable end-of-the-year NFL highlight reel yesterday.
During the second half of the Cardinals loss to the Falcons (a very sloppy game), Toler laid out as his teammate knocked the ball out of the opposing player’s hands. Seeing that the ball was about to go out of bounds — and that the chance of a possession change was inches away — Toler dove in an attempt to throw the ball back in bounds. It worked, and his teammate recovered.
See footage below (due to copyright laws, this is the best that’s out there — you can see a high quality version at 1:30 here):
There were some great images captured of the play:

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 12:41pmNot really that impressive. It’s a basketball move that was more of a danger to the team. As someone stated before, it would still have been the offense’s ball if it had gone out of bounds. When he threw the ball back in bounds, he made an opening for the other team to recover the ball. I’m sure his coach had a few words for him after the game about not doing that again and remind him what sport he’s playing.

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 3:34pmYeah – ok ButtBlast3500 – just dismiss the heart and athleticism. I also bet your lard **** couldn’t jog across the field much less make a dive like that. And they wear helmets and pads for a reason – it’s a rough game and people on the sidelines get nailed all of the time. They play like big boys, m’kay?

And let’s keep race out of football.

Posted on November 19, 2012 at 1:30pmUm… what?
These are multi-billion dollar corporations we are talking about here that garner far more revenue from whites than blacks. They just want to win… If putting more whites on the field would win ball-games, believe me, it would be commonplace. If the rest of the world played American Football… you’d have more whites for sure… Ever check out the bios of the whites in the NBA? … mostly Euros.
Baseball has the reverse problem.. most of the blacks nowadays are from Latin- America.
Winning is key these days. Even the biggest bigots cheer the black corner-back for a pick-6…

Posted on November 19, 2012 at 12:05pmVery nicely done, but this kind of play happens every week in basketball, even at grade school levels. Don’t be overly impressed that a football player finally figured this out.

Posted on November 19, 2012 at 12:31pmIt was VERY IMPRESSIVE! You don’t see this happen in football, so it is impressive.
To hyperskeeter, watching it on live tv, it looked close, but with all the replays they put on,
looked good. It really was a cool play to see…

Posted on November 19, 2012 at 1:07pmBasketball isn’t played with face-masks, helmets, and full pads…. nor do they “fumble” because they’re pounded by a giant dudes slamming them at 27mph (when they’re standing still- if the opponent is also moving at pace the collision is more like 40-50mph) … Try anticipating and reacting to where THAT oblong-shaped ball is randomly going. For your theory to hold water- this sort of play would be as commonplace in football as it is in hoops.

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 11:55amOf course I can’t predict, I was just giving my opinion. No, I meant their record doesn’t reflect reality. Teams are all over the place this year, no telling what could happen. I just don’t think they are that good.

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 3:08pmI agree, when I watch the Texans play I don’t really see how they have the record that they do. The NFL is all over the place so it’s exciting that almost anyone can beat anyone :) But the falcons are the same as the Texans, I don’t see how they have been able to win as much as they have, but i’m not able to watch every game unfortunatly. Cool play though and props to the man in the air haha

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 4:56pmI give more credit to the Texans because they have one of the best RB’s in the LG, A. Foster, and I’d give them the edge on D/ST…I think hey have a better one. Overall I think they are a better team than the falcons. But yeah, it is…can’t wait to see what happens in the playoffs. As long as the PATS and overrated Brady lose I’ll be happy.
Go Cowboys!
