Semi-trucks can be down right scary for motorists in smaller vehicles. Seeing one creeping into your lane on the highway is enough to cause you to lay into a full on honk. Watching one make a right turn onto the street where you’re in the left lane waiting to turn might have you thinking you should back up a touch as you chant “Don’t hit me. Don’t hit me.”
But, the drivers deserve credit for the amount of control they have over the massive rigs and trailers. Take this semi driver for example. In the video below, he starts to turn left, but since he appears to be going a tad too fast, he begins to skid. Amazingly, he corrects the skid making it look like it was intentional and he was just pretending to be 007 in an Aston Martin.

Watch the footage taken by frightened passengers behind him on a rainy day (Warning: Some strong language):
We can’t confirm when the video was officially taken. The timestamp in the clip states 2025, but those timestamps are wrong or altered. We do know it was uploaded to YouTube Friday by a user named rousnek located in Germany. This is the only video the user has uploaded to the video-sharing site.

Nov. 20, 2012 at 9:14amI’m glad The Blaze seems to be retiring the “most amazing thing you’ve ever seen” or “never seen this before” kind of titles and going with “probably” thus finally admitting there is a chance that we very well could have seen something more amazing before.

Nov. 19, 2012 at 10:12pmI once watched a semi driver drive head on into a bridge abutment rather than drive into vehicles on a highway. He didn’t make it but got high praise for his willingness to save many lives at the likely cost of his own. I have a great deal of respect for people like that. Unfortunately, a lot of companies seem to be going for saving money by hiring inexperienced drivers rather than paying the ones who save lives by their knowledge and courage. There’s much more carnage on the roads as a result.

Nov. 19, 2012 at 11:28pmJeff no one in that country really knows what the laws are since they tend to change all the time…video evidence is a safe way to prevent crooked cops and officials from taking you for a ride. Russia is one screwed up wild west of endless red tape, graft, bribery and corruption…a lethal leftover from the Soviet era.

Nov. 19, 2012 at 5:38pmAs a retired truck driver, I would say that this driver started to slow down for his left turn a little too late and locked up the wheels on the trailer due to excessive foot pressure. The trailer may have been mt or near mt and that coupled with the wet roadway, caused a sideways slide. As is usually the case, the tractor wheels kept their grip and allowed the errant driver to recover and continue his route with minimal embarrassment and expense.

Nov. 19, 2012 at 6:56pmYou’ll notice the ONLY way to ‘right’ the trailer ‘skid,’ is…. ‘pulling the trailer’ so that it doesn’t continue its jackknife — experienced drivers just ‘know’ if the rpms are maxed out (governed at the upper end) they have NO control of that trailer — unless they have another gear they can grab before the trailer breaks 45 degrees and ‘talks’ to the driver :-) And they say military ‘brass’ has ‘courage — Booool ****… drive a TRUCK cross-country for 1 year (all four seasons) then come back and talk to me about ‘courage.’

Nov. 20, 2012 at 12:03pmI was thinking the same thing about coming up on his turn too fast, but it looks like he cranked on the hand brake, thus locking the trailer brakes while leaving tractor wheels free to maneuver. That’s the way 18 wheel cowboys used to do it in the snow.

Nov. 20, 2012 at 10:43pmYeppir. It also helped him to have that extra set of tires on his rear tandems. To me, and anyone who has driven as many professional miles as I have, you recognize the amateur factor here. He was going too fast in the rain. Only two things you don’t want to do when its wet or snowy out in a rig, change speed fast, or change direction fast! LMFAO!

Nov. 20, 2012 at 12:13pmActually experienced several Crazy Ivans in the Med during the summer of ’77. Although I was a radioman, sonar was right next door (and you could hear their communications with the Conn in radio).
It didn’t make much sense to me. We never trailed at the same depth and was easily avoided without detection. Maybe it was just paranoia on the part of the Rooskies.

Nov. 19, 2012 at 5:33pmMy husband was a short-haul truck driver and always pointed out to stay back in the left turn lane because those things don’t turn on a dime. The amount of effort it takes to control those big rigs is amazing. In the days when he drove and I often took the kids and rode along, he talked often about the “Truck Driver’s Code” that if it’s a question of flipping your rig and dying or taking out a car, only the most selfish trucker would do the latter. God watched over many of those truckers, alas, the code doesn’t seem to be around anymore and I’ve been around truckers who scare you for the fun of it. But that guy had a lot of mastery of that rig, you’ve gotta admire it.
