Allen West Concedes Race in South Florida

Allen West Concedes

Rep. Allen West makes a point during a debate with Patrick Murphy, Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 in West Palm Beach, Fla. Credit: AP

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (TheBlaze/AP) — Tea party Rep. Allen West conceded his re-election fight Tuesday, two weeks after the election gave way to court appearances, two partial recounts and unending accusations by his camp that the vote count wasn’t fair.

In a statement, the Republican freshman said “there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results” but not enough to change the outcome, giving the race to Democratic newcomer Patrick Murphy.

“While a contest of the election results might have changed the vote totals, we do not have evidence that the outcome would change,” West said.

Murphy campaign manager Anthony Kusich said he was not aware of any concession call to his candidate, simply an e-mail that was publicly distributed. In his own statement, Murphy said he was “humbled by Congressman West’s gracious concession” and eager to get to work on behalf of all voters.

“To those who supported my opponent, my door is open and I want to hear your voice,” Murphy said. “I campaigned on a message of reaching across the aisle to get things done for the people of the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches, and that is as important in this district as it is in Washington.”

West also appeared on Fox News Tuesday morning to announce the concession:

“Leaders don’t need a title to be able to lead,” he said.

Murphy declared victory in the wee hours of Election Night and has held his lead ever since, even as thousands of absentee, provisional and overseas ballots were processed and two partial recounts undertaken. But West’s campaign kept up a stream of skepticism about the results, largely focused on St. Lucie County, where elections officials acknowledged missteps.

An initial recount of some early ballots in St. Lucie gave West a slight bump. His campaign fought for a fuller recount, and received it, but it only improved Murphy’s margin of victory. He won by more than 2,000 votes.

Many have speculated West could find a new career in the place where he has been frequently seen, on cable television, but he has not said what his next step will be. “Only God knows what is in store for each of us,” he said in his statement, adding that “I will continue to fight for our republic.”

Whatever the next step, the contest between Murphy and West will go down as one of the most expensive in congressional history. Murphy eked out the win though he was out-fundraised more than four-to-one.

West, 51, is a favorite among the most conservative reaches of the Republican Party. He has made a string of headline-grabbing statements, from calling progressive congressional Democrats communists to saying President Barack Obama, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and others should “get the hell out of the United States.”

In his concession statement, West offered congratulations to Murphy, saying “I pray he will serve his constituents with honor and integrity, and put the interests of our nation before his own.”

This is a breaking story. Updates will be added.

It a win win for the democrats… they get rid of a (supposed) TEA party favorite… who is black and can claim the racists in the TEA party didn’t support him. Oh how they love to have it both ways all the time.

So now– to those who think challenging fraud is a lost cause:

Can Patrick Murphy now go out there and claim a clear “mandate” to do whatever he wants?
Can he be sure of re-election in 2 years if he does so?
Will local Republicans now work on clarifying the voting process to diminish possible fraud?

If the public is not informed they cannot react.
I think local Allen West supporters now consider themselves informed.

This is not a team sport. This is 2 progressive parties destroying our Liberty, and the Liberty for man kind!

Here’s your fuzzy math. Half the country does not pay anything toward the government that is supporting them. The top 10% pays nearly 70% of all taxes. The top 1% pay over 60% in total taxes. Every working citizen should pay at least 1 cent in taxes instead of getting thousand of dollars back in child/earned income credit.

Looks like some folks already beat me to the punch and enlightened you with some real math in that the top 10% are paying 70% of the income taxes.

Once again, you seem to be to stupid to know income tax from capital gains tax. Crank up the capital gains taxes, and see what happens to business and investment in America?

If you take from one (who earned it), and give to someone else (who did not earn it), it is redistribution of wealth. It is Marxist in nature, and is called socialism.

ok molon and squid…here it is in a nut shell…and before you accuse me of demonizing the rich…I will pay more under Obama’s plan. Fist off if the top 10% is making 86% of all the revenue then we can stop right there because they are only paying 70 % of the taxes. They should be paying 86% at least. America has always had a progressive tax system. In the 50s and sixties the rich payed a effective tax rate of 80 to 90%. That dropped to 70% under JFK…a dem. Then to 50% under reagan…35% under Bush1..So year by year the rich have been reducing their tax liabilities while the marginal players like myself have been paying the same if not more. Last year, making slightly over 200,000 I paid 3 times the effective tax rate of mitt romney and I fit all the critiria you guys like to sight. I’m a small business owner, employer, that has zero debt and no money to pay a tax professional to be on staff. So explain to me how it is fair that romney makes millions and pay’s a third of what I and many like me pay. If he is paying less and I’m paying more to make up for him paying less…that my friend is true redistribution. And its been going on for a long time before you guys decided to enter the fray, I the wrong side I might add.

      @STEVETHECOMMIE

      Business owner my arse….

Anyways, I’ll educate your further. Romney is paying capital gains tax. You are paying and income tax. (So you say) The money invested in capital gains have already been taxed at one time as income. So your “effective tax rate” definition is incorrect. It’s the 14% plus the rate it was originally taxed at when it was income.

Secondly, before you want to start talking about the higher tax rates under Reagan and Clinton etc…. Fine, we’ll go back to those tax rates as long as we can go back to those spending levels as a percentage of GDP.

Correction, we use to have a progressive tax system (that I still contend is unfair) but, now we have a Marxist tax rate. And you haven’t answered why it’s fair that half the country should not only not pay taxes but, get a sizable return?

I hope you internet trolling business does well though.

Oh BTW, it’s not of your business how much money another man makes. So what if they make 86% if all the income. It’s not yours, they earned it. Only Socialists count total income of others as if they have some claim to it. We do not work to fund the government. It is a necessary evil that should be limited in scope and size. If the top 1% had ALL of their assets confiscated, it would fund the government for 6 WEEKS. Taxes are not the issue here, the 1 in 3 Americans getting some kind of government check is. Worry about your own wallet and stay out of others. If you want to steal money out my wallet, at least be man enough to do it yourself instead of sending an armed police force to do it!

Now matter how you twist it, taking from one, giving to another is redistribution, and it is socialism. Socialism does not work, and never has.

your comment ” So explain to me how it is fair that Romney makes millions and pay’s a third of what I and many like me pay”

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INCOME TAX AND CAPTIAL GAINS TAX???

Romney did not work a regular job last year, thus he did not pay income tax. He already paid income tax when he worked previously, then invested his money. The taxes he paid last year were capital gains taxes, not income taxes. he pays the same rate that all other American pay, when they pay capital gains tax.

Some would say the fix is to just raise capital gains tax to the same rate that income tax is. Brilliant, do it and see what happens to business and investing in America. If you shut down business by overtaxing, you hurt the middle class.

The fix, is to stop spending more than we make as a nation. Stop with the entitlements and welfare. Shut down the border, and those on welfare can do the work that the illegal imigrants are coming here to do. It will lower taxes, lower crime, lower unmarried pregnancy, lower drug use…. When you pay people to sit on their butt and watch Oprah, and then punish those that work hard and save, you will break the system. The American dream is not based on socialism and your redistribution of wealth.

Basically, the right (conservatives) have lost, and I think they have lost for good. The addiction to free stuff is just to strong to overcome, and to many are hooked on the crack pipe of redistribution. The multicultural education, the media bias, the MTV’s Rock the Vote, has taken hold. Look for Hillary (or some one just as evil) to win next time around, and watch the numbers of republicans in the senate and house start to dwindle. This Republic was an interesting experiment in individual liberty and responsibility. The communists set out with a game plane on taking us down. They knew they had to get God out of the Schools, they knew that had to promote homosexuality as being normal, they knew they had to get a hold of the media…. The natural order of things, is that one day the takers, do outnumber to providers, and they vote in the blown socialism.

here is what the takers fail to realize. Once the elite Marxists get full power, they still need the providers, as someone has to pay the taxes. Those in power do not need the lazy who stand out with open stretched hands. This is when the powers to be, begin to kill of the takers. Stalin killed about 12 million of them. Mao killed off 60 million of the peasant farmers that voted him into power, and North Korea did the same.

The welfare crowd are living high on the hog, watching Oprah, Jerry, and getting jiggy with it and spending that welfare money and food stamps. When they vote in the full blow socialist gov, the welfare check will stop coming, and the military will move in and kill them like vermin.

Your numbers are good according to the CBO.
I paid 29 cents on every one of my dollars and Romney paid 13 cents on his.
The middle class doesn’t shelter their tax burden and spends an extraordinary portion of their income.
They pay their taxes and spend to stimulate the economy. Yet Nordquist conservatives demand that policies funnel more of the wealth and less of the tax burden to the wealthiest men on earth. Reagan’s rates were higher. Clinton’s were higher. How was the economy then?

Perhaps Darla was simply paying attention when reports rolled in of electronic voter machines flipping votes to Obama, people showing up to vote and being told that they had already voted, absentee ballots that could not be verifed to valid addresses, poll observers illegally being ejected or being denied access to groups transferring ballot results by hand because the readers were supposedly broken, voter turnouts as high as 150% or more of registered voters, etc., etc., etc….

SOY, I can sort of see it your way. If Libertarians ever got a foot hold on anything in this country, some things may very well change, and possibly some for the good as I see it. But, what happens when they become established? Do you really think that they can resist human frailty to being inside the beltway? I would venture to say that they would become the next new problem in DC, should they actually become that established. As for me, I just don’t agree with much of their platform. I also disagree with a number of planks in the Republican platform too, but far less that with the Libertarian Party. But, I would rather see them in office over any and all Democrats.

So, tell us all how Allen West is as War CRIMINAL, please. Put his name into your search engine and actually read what happened. He did receive Non-judicial punishment under Article 15. This form of punishment is more or less like traffic court. Actually it would be considered less than a traffic court. Also, had you idiots (and, I call you an idiot because you have no idea of what you say) had gotten your WISH with that War Crimes idea, don’t you think that the World Court at The Hague would have gotten involved? Progressives have achieved perfection and raised fraudulent voting to an art form. The honor system employed in today’s voting process is a free lunch for scoundrels. The more power the cheaters gain only insures they’ll gain more power. During the next four year the Supreme Court will become progressive and the “checks and balances” of American government will evaporate.

Example of Fraud is the Minnesota Senate race. A 1,000 felons voted. 200 have been convicted. Did they vote AL Franken or Norm Coleman? The race was decided by around 300 votes. Vote fraud is real & affects elections.

Due to the results of the 2010 Census Florida was granted the ability to reshape some of it’s districts. If I come off sounding like a Libertarian on this next statement, so be it. Although I am not. It was the Republicans in the state who rebuilt the district that West was to run in as heavy with known Democrats. West rocked the boat, and the dyed in the wool old standbys were fed up with him. Now they have created a district that will remain Democrat for God only knows how long. These are the Republicans that need to be dumped, not those like West. We need more like him to rock the boat.
