Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice was one of the most-seen administration officials in the aftermath of the September 11 Benghazi tragedy. She took to a staggering five Sunday talk shows that weekend to insist, despite overwhelming evidence, that the attack that killed Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans was not terrorism, but a “spontaneous” response to a little-watched YouTube video.

Now that more information has come to light, many are wondering where exactly Rice got these inaccurate “talking points,” and who told her to push them so aggressively. After the possibility was floated that she could become the next Secretary of State, Republican lawmakers questioned if a woman who was the face of a misinformation campaign (intentionally or not) should really hold such a position.

But all of this really only has to do with the color of Rice’s skin. At least, that’s what a growing number of Democratic lawmakers would have you believe.

On Tuesday morning, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien that objections to Rice’s potential nomination are really just racial “code words” that those who were “born and raised in the South” are easily able to recognize.

Echoing voices who have been making similar claims all weekend, Clyburn explained (transcript via CNN):

“These are code words. We heard them during the campaign. During this recent campaign, we heard Sununu calling our President ‘lazy,’ ‘incompetent.’ These kinds of terms that those of us – especially those of us who were born and raised in the South – we’ve been hearing these little words and phrases all of our lives and we get insulted by them. Susan Rice is as competent as anybody that you will find…. It certainly caused a big problem with me. I don’t like those words. Say that she was wrong for doing it, but don’t call her incompetent. That is something totally different. A lot of very competent people sometimes make errors, and to say that she erroneously did it, I don’t have a problem with it. But to call her incompetent, a PhD Rhodes Scholar, being called incompetent by someone who can’t hold a candle to her intellectually. By someone who said, and Senator McCain called her incompetent as well. But he told us that Sarah Palin was a very competent person to be Vice President of the United States. That ought to tell you a little bit about his judgment.” [Emphasis added]

MSNBC also floated the idea.

Richard Wolffe, who was named the vice president and executive editor of MSNBC’s website in October, appeared as a guest on “Hardball” with Chris Matthews Monday night to argue the same thing.

He remarked:

“…Frankly, it’s outrageous that there is this witch hunt going on on the right about these people of color, let’s face it, around this president. Eric Holder, Valerie Jarrett, now Susan Rice — before, it was Van Jones.

“This is not about who is hawkish in the same way John McCain is about foreign policy, because if you look at Iran and Libya, Susan Rice checks those boxes. This is a personal vendetta. It’s about presidential authority.”

  Dude that’s not the point, the only thing we expect her to do is relay correct information. If she didn’t know the exact answer, she could’ve plainly said “i’m sorry, but we STILL don’t know what happened and it troubles me too.” But she lied because she was told what to say without any REAL knowledge of the event. If she is representing us to other world leaders, why doesn’t she know what’s happening with our foreign bases? They call her incompetent because she actually thought it was okay to tell us a story of what happened, if someone gave her bad info. Then why hide it until court day? She could’ve researched it that day and found out there was overwhelming evidence pointing to a terrorist attack, then made a formal apology but she didn’t. She just let the lie sink in like she could just get away with it. THIS is why the republicans were so troubled after the court case, she FINALLY admitted she had no idea what happened. You have to think about how honest a person is first and foremost before you place them in such a position. I’m sry but if she had been outright that Obama lied to her, then I could feel bad for her.   I’d call their bluff…”can you tell us what colors we’re allowed to ask important questions of?…So in the future rather than ask a person of color (extra sensitive if she’s a woman) just send the approved color in with Ms Rice sitting next to said appropriate colored individual and she can give that person the answers to our questions but we’ll ask the questions to the approved color (and or sex) person instead of her directly..problem solved”. Susan Rice is an accomnplished woman which honorable credentials. It is unfortunate that she allowed herself to be used to sell “talking points” that were obvious lies. Pointing that out does not make us racist. It is time for all our leaders in high positions to put down the race card, the sexist card, and start taking personal responsibility for their mistakes. Eric Holder is a piece of crrap, not because he is a person of color, but because he is a criminal. Van Jones is a racist of the highest order. Valerie Jarrett is right up there with Van Jones…”Those who aren’t with us are against us and they will pay”…what kind of crap is that for someone in a high position of government to spout? We aren’t racist…we are Americans who find people of this type distasteful and evil. Susan Rice just lost her credibility. That doesn’t make anyone who notices it a racist.

As UN ambassador she had no business delivering the administration line…she was doing Hillarys’ job and she knew it…which is what she’s lobbying for anyway. Obama set her up now she can take the fall so black, white, yellow blue I don’t care what color she is, she accepted the task, now she can deal with the fallout. Hey Jim speaking of incompetent, you are the epitome of the word. Where did all that money at SC State University go that was supposed to build a building with your name on it? You got it appropriated and then where did it go? Here is a small part of a larger report from the Charleston post and Courier:
The transportation center came under fire in 2010 after The Post and Courier reported that more than $50 million had flowed to the center — about half for a new building and half for transportation research and education programs — but the site for the new building was vacant, no transportation research was under way, and it had lost its federal designation.

The report prompted a bipartisan group of state legislators to call for an investigation by their watchdog group, the Legislative Audit Council.

The audit council’s report, which was released in June 2011, cited severe management problems. And it estimated that the transportation complex likely would cost about $107 million. The university had no viable plan for raising the rest.

Might want to lay low on the incompetent remarks, and yes I am a South Carolinian, who doesn’t trust you or any Demoncrat, and it’s getting therre with Repugnicans too!

I don’t know about the rest of you all but I am tired of the race card. If they are going to claim those who are questioning Rice are racist…..well I say those who are defending her are racists because I bet if she was white they wouldn’t be saying anything!
