State Dept Backpedals on Turkey’s Anti-Israel Comments After Pressure From AP Reporter
After Turkish PM Tayyip Erdogan called Israel a “terrorist state” engaged in “ethnic cleansing,” the White House remained deafeningly silent until it finally succumbed to pressure placed on the State Department’s spokeswoman by the Associated Press’ Matt Lee.
“How do you — this whole thing of saying nothing, I’m not sure I understand why you think that that’s helpful to the situation. You say that it would not be helpful for you to discuss any of your conversations, that quiet diplomacy is the way to de-escalate that. Well, you’ve been doing your quiet diplomacy now for almost a week. How’s it going so far?” Lee pressed during an exchange with State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland during a Monday press briefing.
“We are working hard with the parties. We’re working hard with –” she began to reply.
“Hasn’t it occurred to anybody that maybe being less quiet might get more results, though? Squeaky wheel gets grease, that kind of thing?”
Now, the administration is backpedaling and on Tuesday condemned Turkey for its comments. Lee’s update is featured below.
–
WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) The Obama administration is criticizing its NATO ally Turkey for “extremely harsh” rhetoric in accusing Israel of terrorism in its current military operations in Gaza.
The State Department said Tuesday that such language is “not helpful” to efforts to end the conflict there. Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that message had been delivered to Turkish officials within the past 24 hours.
Turkey’s prime minister has accused Israel’s leaders of trying to eliminate the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip through ethnic cleansing and terrorism. Israel says its actions are aimed at halting rocket attacks into Israeli territory from Gaza by Hamas militants and other groups.
Nuland spoke as Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was heading to the Mideast while violence raged even as cease-fire talks were under way in Egypt.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on November 20, 2012 at 11:31pmIn the last ten years, Hamas in the Gaza strip has launched over 4,800 rockets into southern Israel, an ongoing act of terrorism that is costing innocent lives and damaging property. In desperation to put an end to these rocket attacks and protect their people (including their well-treated Muslim citizens), Israel is doing air-strikes.
So now that they’re defending themselves, suddenly the media is all over Israel and how they’re attacking? Sick of the liberal media.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 4:11amSORRY, but Jews never stop caring about their homeland. It is all just deception. Hitler was right all along when he pointed out that Jews are the leaders of every faction for a reason. They are all assigned to different roles in society with the ultimate aim of conserving this stranglehold they have on the gentile world. It’s as if Jews commandeered two runaway trains full of Gentiles, only to propel them straight into each other before jumping out themselves.
This is the game they played on the Republicans with neoconservatism. I think its fair to say they did a devilishly wicked job on securing braindead cannon fodder.

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 9:28pmThe obama administration is clearly anti-Semitic. If you don’t know that, you don’t know that obama is black. There is no love lost between obama and any Jewish person. It seems to me that blacks simply hate Jews because they believe blacks are the root of all their social and financial problems. Ask any truly honest black and you’ll find that what I say is true. If you don’t like it, then be courageous and really research the matter by talking to your black friends and acquaintances. Again, if they’re truly honest, they’ll admit their anti-Semitic stance.

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 11:13pmI have been curious for a while now about why the majority of blacks are so anti-semitic, and I think it is because the blacks feel threatened that they may lose their title of the biggest ‘Victim”. I mean, if you make your living by constantly reminding people that your far off ancestors were wronged and oppressed, wouldn’t you want to make a group of people who were starved, enslaved and then killed by the MILLIONS in gas chambers look like they are really just bad people who don’t need our help or sympathy? Yep, I think that might be the answer to their hate.

If you did, you would find there are a lot of Arabs who peacefully live in Israel. But the media doesn’t portray Israel like that. It wouldn’t be in their “self-interest”.
According to the CIA World Factbook, 1 out of every 4 people in Israel are Arabic (not Jewish!).
Their legal system consists of English common law, British Mandate regulations, and Jewish, Christian, and Muslim religious laws.
Of the 7.5 million people who live in Israel, the religious breakdown is as follows:
Jewish 75.6%
Muslim 16.9%
Christian 2%
Druze 1.7%
other 3.8% (2008)

You turn to Liberals to support your arguments? Find me one conservative minded, historically knowledgeable person who backs your view. You have not provided facts but rather two individuals opinions. I could cite over a dozen contrary opinions.
Pappe believes the primary motivation that caused the Arabs to flee was Israel forced them but that is already a point many disagree on. There are plenty of others who think the Arabs fled because they anticipated from the Jews what they themselves intended to do if they had won, namely the massacring of the other group. Arab violence didn’t start in 1948 and it’s quite possible many Arabs were driven out when they weren’t willing to accept living in Israel. Regardless, many Arabs remained and became citizens will full rights, including some Bedouins who allied with the Jews. That fact alone disproves racial or ethnic motivation. (On a side note, your link indicates that Pappe seemingly overestimated the number of refugees by over 200,000, which might make his account questionable).

Regardless of the reason Palestinian Arabs fled, the fact remains it wouldn’t have occurred if the Arabs hadn’t attacked Israel. The war drove those people out by creating an air of uncertainty and desperation on both sides. In contrast, following the war, 700,000 Jews were sent into exile by their Arab host countries. And here’s the clincher: there are more Israeli Arabs today than in 1949, there are more Palestinians in the territories than in 1949, but there are far fewer Jews in Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, and even Iran than there were in 1949. The Arab population of Israel has gone up over the past 60 years.

Citing Finkelstein is not really an argument. I could just as easily cite a Jew who opposes him on any issue. Moreover, citing the opinions of other Jews doesn’t make my opinion wrong. You keep acting as though Jews are part of some massive conspiracy in which the opinion of one is the opinion of everyone else. And as for none of those countries locking people up, the British and the Irish have had plenty of bad blood, the British have a history of oppressing people in South Africa, India, and even Jews trying to emigrate to Palestine after 1939. Only Jewish immigration was effectively banned in 1939 and those caught trying to enter illegally were placed in a military prison camp on Cyprus.
In contrast, Israel treats Gaza like a hostile foreign neighbor. Israeli law is not enforced in Gaza, Israeli soldiers and police have no daily presence there, Israel doesn’t dictate were Gaza residents must be at certain times, and doesn’t stop them from running their own economy. The fact is that if Gaza were declared an independent country right now the only thing that would change in terms of how its relationship with Israel was concerned is that the current conflict would legally be considered a war between two nations (of course in that scenario Hamas would also be cited for using schools, mosques, and hospitals for military purposes, forcing military engagements in heavily populated areas, and targeting civilians over military).

And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
If you didn’t know, the Moabites brought the plague to the people of Israel, which resulted in over 24,000 deaths, which was spread mostly through sexual contact.

I meant Midianites. Moabites were descendents of Lot, Abraham’s brother. But it is worth noting that the Midianites were able to have ties with the Jewish people, via through connections with the Moabites.
You stated: “Sounds like the Nazi, Malmedy massacre of Americans, described as a war crime.”
I state that if you had a bad past history with them, you might have done the same thing. To be upfront here, I fail to see where this is going, anyways. Also, I fail to see how WWII even relates to wars from antiquity. There was no Geneva Convention. There was no Red Cross. There were no governing bodies, such as the League of Nations.
Nor do I recall Nazi Germany allowing full citizenship to Jews during the late 1930′s and 1940′s, while the wars were going on.
Again, I fail to see the connection.
You are posting things from a nation’s past that is several thousand years ago; unless you believe it is relevant now. And if you do, then you must also believe that Israel, and much of the surrounding land, was Israel’s for generations and generations, which means that the land they are on now is theirs by inheritance.

For one, the President has no active role in the Amendment process and second, the Federal government isn’t likely to pass an amendment that weakens its own power. The way to get it done is to petition the states to call for the repeal of the 17th. If 2/3 of the states pass resolutions calling for the repeal, the federal government must, by law, form a convention to draft the amendment which is then submitted to the states for ratification. Since the states are the ones with the most to gain, they are more likely to act.

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 4:07pmAfter Turkish PM Tayyip Erdogan called Israel a “terrorist state” engaged in “ethnic cleansing,” the White House remained deafeningly silent.
The silence was deafening with regards to the Marxist’s regimes stance on the Turkish PM’s remark.
Their initial non response is much more telling.
