Over the weekend, Republican strategist Mike Murphy appeared on “Meet the Press,” where he had some advice for the Republican Party. Murphy said that the GOP must reject radio host Rush Limbaugh’s approach if it wishes to, once again, become victorious. The commentator called for a “party view of America” that doesn’t come from “Limbaugh’s dream journal.” On Monday, the popular radio host hit back, launching into a pointed, on-air response.

After playing the soundbite of Murphy speaking about the Republican primary, which the strategist said is driving the party to disaster, Limbaugh candidly dismissed the commentator’s claims.

“What, folks, did I or any of you have to do with the Republican primary?,” Limbaugh asked listeners. “Did not Murphy get the candidate he wanted? All these consultants, do you realize they get rich no matter who wins or loses? Little-known secret.”

The radio host then indicated that Murphy’s real issue was with the conservative candidates who ran in the Republican primary, noting that the strategist apparently felt that “there were too many conservatives in it saying too many stupid things.” Limbaugh then accused Murphy of calling for an end to conservatism.

In addition to Murphy’s comments, the host also took aim at a speech that GOP political operative and 2008 adviser to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign Steve Schmidt recently gave at the University of Delaware. In it, Schmidt told the audience that Limbaugh is speaking to a demographic that is “white, 65 plus, and rural.”

The strategist (whom Limbaugh referred to as “the architect of McCain’s defeat”) contended that this isn’t what America looks like any longer and that the radio host’s message is “complete and total ludicrous nonsense.”

“Okay, so you people are all white, 65 and over, and you live in the sticks,” Limbaugh responded. “And you are screwing up the Republican Party, because you are believing what I say. This is their explanation for having lost.”

It doesn’t matter. This is the mainstream Republican’s opportunity to run to the left – which is where they’ve always really wanted to be. Within 8 years, conservatives will be a third party in one form or another and the republican party will have committed suicide.

  The real problem is we let the liberal states go first in the primary process, so we end up stuck with “moderate” Republicans who then go on to lose. And the dems know this full well.
  
  I propose the conservative states move their primaries to the same day as the earliest states. See what happens from there. Of course ideally all primaries should be on the same day. That could be “step two” down the road when enough people in elected office agree; a federal law that all primaries are on the same day so we stop disenfranchising most of the country.
  
  Let’s face it, if this was done prior to 2012, we would likely be looking at President-elect Santorum right now.

  You are exactly right. Obama’s victory is a huge win for progressive republicans. What a lot of people seem to forget is that Barry Goldwater and the boys started conservatism as a response to progressive republicanism. They hide behind a bunch of garbage issues that give them just enough pull to secure reelection as a republican, and then get to washington and immediately start fattening themselves up.

  I think you’re right about a third party, but in the wrong direction. Here in MA, we have 10 US Reps in Congress, all (surprise!) Democrats. Now of the 10, 6 are REGISTERED DSA’s. What is a DSA, you ask? Well, it’s the Democratic Socialists of America. In Congress, there’s 70 REGISTERED DSA’s. On the ballot, they all have a “D” after their name, which in time, will be changed to an “S.” The Democrats will become Socialists, because as it seems, the people in this Country want a nanny Country, as you can see by the election. We want to be just like Europe. And Greece.

  Real conservatives have been a pseudo third party for a long time already. Most of them usually vote republican because there is no legitimate conservative party to align themselves with, and they see it as a lesser of two evils type scenario.

  As I lay awake last night wondering if there is a doG I pondered the thought of changing my party affiliation. It is time that everyone who is 50 years of age and younger to abandon the Democrat and Republican party and register as an Independent. Let’s do this the second week in January on that Wednesday. I firmly believe that we, as a voting block, share more common interests than we disagree on. We are also the ones, along with our children, who are still stuck with the bill once all in power now are gone! By the time they see the size of our voting block, which will be larger than either party, they will piss down their legs and realize then NEED to listen to US now. Face it. Both parties are so divided that nothing but higher unemployment, less jobs, more debt, less rights, it is going in the wrong direction people and it is the fault of both parties!!!! We have got to get back to our basic Constitutional Freedoms originally designed for us and stop this madness. And please don’t misunderstand me. I am NOT talking about going back 200 years. I am talking about coming together on our basic rights and understandings that we are all equal and deserve the same opportunities. Unfortunately we are not all guaranteed the same outcome. I promise you 50 and younger, we agree on more than we disagree. Time to end this madness.

  Sorry driver, aint gonna happen. Too many pissed off people over the age of 30 and non-minority that are right on edge. The only white minority there is would be found in the Democratic Party as we are still a majority of 64%. At some point the under 30 Obama voting kids will get their arse handed to them by the left as we all have at which point the education begins. I have provided my son enough to do something but not enough to do nothing. He voted for Obama and now he’s out of my house. He will learn on his own at this point especially when the Obamacare $1100 is due in 2013, $1700 in 2014 and on and on.

Interestingly, it is the sophisticated, secular, city folks who are on the wrong side of history, though they are at present in the majority. Humans are biological beings connected to biological forces. Life is a nurturing activity, not a self-satisfying activity. It is those who live in the sticks who will eventually bail out those who think they are immune from reality. It is a question of time.

  I moved to the sticks after decades of living in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami, Iowa, and many more areas looking for someplace to live in peace. I found it! I couldn’t believe the ignorance of most city dwellers, and as one myself I had to re-educate myself to what is really important to me and my family. That doesn’t mean living in a shack stocked with beans and sardines.
  
  All the talk about elections and politicians is no longer important to me, as a history buff I believe we have to go through a really bad depression where people starve, people die and perhaps after 15 years of a bad depression the lessons of our grandparents and their parents might be re-born. And, saving the city folks who gave us the depression is not on my agenda. ” Live by the sword, Die by the sword”
  
  Regardless, if you live in or near a large city, I suggest moving ASAP to a small quiet community in order to survive the next 15 years.

The right wing media complex is withering. You were all absolutely convinced that it had educated and inspired Americans to adopt radical conservatism. Romney was going to win in a landslide. You would gain seats in the House and retake the Senate. Obamacare would be repealed. All taxes for the rich would be lowered. Social Security and Medicare would be privatized. Abortion would be illegal. Oh, Hosannah, the ways of god fearin’ Christians would rule the Earth.

Not.

Why not? Because in the end it was nothing more than a scripted reality TV show. You’re much closer to Honey Boo Boo than Ronald Reagan.

Face it, America rejects your obstruction and self-righteous indignation. The Tea Party was the last gasp for your cause – a hypocritical and profane attempt at seizing power for personal gain and control over others. You didn’t want government to tell you what light bulb to buy, but you wanted government to tell you who you could marry. You wanted government to force you to carry a rape baby to term.

  I hate to say it pantloadian, but you’re right. Republicans have just become the party that can’t face reality. They think people who accept Medicare/Medicaid or Social Security, or military benefits are ‘moochers’ or takers. It’s true. They lump them in with other welfare recipients who would die if they didn’t have that government help. If memory serves, we’re supposed to promote the public welfare instead of become bigots and poor-class haters who only serve the rich.
  
  Republicans try to justify their party by saying ‘Lincoln was a Republican’ and other irrelevant nonsense. Lincoln would be turning in his grave at the state of the GOP. They try to link the left with Hitler and Stalin, but they have NO clue about what they are talking about. Beck has blinded them with too much propaganda.
  
  Republicans have come to the point of believing the nonsense of the media and web propaganda instead of doing their homework with actual fact checking. The uber-sad point is, they are PAYING these propagandists like Rush, Hannity, and Beck to led them astray…and have no idea they are voting against their own best interests.   I’m a single, minority woman that didn’t vote for Obama. My mother taught me long ago that boys will say anything to get you right where they want you. Actions always speak louder than words.   Yawn. Majority rule is not better than minority rule in its inherent morality. The Jews were a minority in Germany under Hitler, and they got crushed, as they did in Stalin’s USSR. Whites were the minority in South Africa, and held down the black majority for a very long time. Being in the majority does not make one right; as your friends would say, the majority of Americans held that slavery was just fine once upon a time, but that did not make it right or moral.
  
  You call it ‘radical conservatism;’ I guess balancing a budget and not expecting everyone in the country to continuously feed at the government trough is radical to you, for that is what the Tea Party stands for: limited government and government accountability, no matter the party. In this progressive society, yes, that would be very radical. And if you consider Romney a radical conservative, you really are very ignorant. Or a liar. I’d wager the latter, but who knows. Your lumping all Tea Party people into the group that wants women to carry babies produced by rape is a certainly a lie and you know it. You have zero credability for that statement alone.   You do have a point there, pant load: there are more people in this Country who want freebies, than the ones who pay for them (taxpayers) Who doesn’t? Problem is, the government gives out the freebies, and the taxpayers money is the medium. If we keep giving out more freebies, the Dems will get even more votes (3.5 mil over Romney). If Obama runs for a third term (he just might be the man who can do it), I’m sure the 40 mil on EBT’s will increase. But the revenue from taxpayers will decrease, even though the rates will increase. If you were rich, and you knew that they were coming after your money, wouldn’t you do your best to protect it (overseas accounts, like GE – 1 bil in profit, $0 in taxes). Now, with the rich depleting, who’s left to pay the taxes? Well, who do we have left: the poor (growing) and the middle class. That’s why the middle class had to be protected: they’re paying the increased taxes! Look, only time will tell. Government is a business. If it’s run right, the government will have a surplus to invest in the infrastructure of the Country, not Soylandra.

We have a systemic problem in this country today, that is at it’s core, our lack of unbiased public education and media. Added to that a fast growing moocher class that get really mad if they are called moochers. They seem to prefer unfortunates, but their goal is more of your money.

The battle for the Republican party is on-going.
There are 2 main groups, the conservatives and the liberals, that refer to themself as moderate or establishment. Rino seems a more apt label IMHO.

The problem is the liberals want the same thing Democrats want, more of your money, while the conservative element is fighting to return to a Republic operating under the rule of law, instead of feelings.
Another term for social justice, that our judges are all intent on making the rule of the day.

If the liberals win, then we no longer have 2 parties.
The Democrats have lots of diverse groups, but all their groups have the same goal, more of your money, so they vote as one.

My Children know what is REALLY going on. I am Proud of the hard work I have done to change their attitude. I had no idea how Indoctrinated they were. You most likely have no clue how Indoctrinated your Children are. It all started with myself telling my 14 year old about New World Order. Where they want Open Boarder’s. When my son Replied….He thinks that is O.K.. I went to Work and now he and the rest of my family Understand what is Right and how that is Not.

Gee, if the GOP voted God out of their platform 3 times, the pretended the majority of them said they wanted it, perhaps Romney would’ve won. Perhaps if the GOP gave away freebies to everyone living here illegally, he’d've won. If Romney talked about taxing the rich or wanted to dole out the morning after pills like pez’s he would’ve of won. Obama couldn’t run on a failed record, so he made fun of those of us who actually believe in the constitution, binders, bigbird, and bayonets, and his lie about saving the auto industry and telling us that the private sector was doing great. Romney should’ve demanded a recount in the states that required no ID’s. He didn’t & now our nation is on the edge of a huge down spiral, the likes of which we have yet to see. Meanwhile the GOP is blaming Romney for losing? We have a lot of GOP losers sitting there in DC who have continually given in to Obama. They should be starting impeachment hearings instead of sucking their thumbs and whining.

We need to see the real monetary ($$) facts behind what the media and the media consultants actually get paid in respect to the presidential election. As millions of people were responding everyday with their hard earned money to the desperate pleas for more and more money $$$ to fund the election of all the candidates, these political consultants and the MSM all raked in billions of dollars. Let’s see their tax returns and their net worth!
Just who does benefit from all the political donations? Just how much money goes into the pockets of the media elites as they control the news, spin the facts and control every aspect of our lives through this “con game” called political consulting and political reporting by these media pimps.
Big Government, Big Business, Big Media all screw the citizens through their targeted propaganda and control of the news, the facts, the economy and our future. The MSM and the media elites are the real dictators who control our country. The politicians like Obama and the lap-dog RINO’s
are their puppets and the taxpayers are the ultimate losers.

Is it a better “long term” solution to let a Marxist wreak havoc for another term, thereby making the distinction between a rational human being and a Marxist even more stark. GOP elites are jockying for power. They must convince the money people that their vision is superior to Conservatives like Rush. They must provide an explanation for why they lost the race that doesn’t involve them or their policies. Ergo:

(1) Its Romney’s Fault
(2) Its the Tea Parties Fault
(3) Its Talk Radio’s Fault
(4) Its everyone’s fault except the people who chose Romney, forced the rest of the cantidates out, and rammed Romney and the Obama Light policies down our throat.

  That’s the problem, NOBODY is espousing conservative principles in government. People just say “nobody will follow us if we push those policies, so if we want to win we need to embrace the current political tides.” What has that gotten us? A bunch of watered down democrats policies just like we saw during the Bush administration.
  
  This is like watching an army of self loathing closet liberals lament how the very people who have allowed them to keep even a scrap of power are getting in their way. Nevermind the fact that a good number of the Conservatives actually stayed home for the last election (when Romney gets 3 million less votes than McCain when the nation was in the full swoon of Obama mania, one has to imagine that something went horribly wrong with the base).   That’s true too Strawberry. Chris Matthews is way beyond out there! I listened to Rush yesterday and it was one of the times I agreed with what he was saying. It’s not his fault at all, but do you think he makes himself an easy target? I only listened for a few minutes but at the time I was listening I swear I could detect that his feelings were hurt, not in a big way but his voice sounded a little different.

  This is all Marks fault to begin with! I never cared this much about politricks until one day, about six or seven months ago I was fumbling with the radio, accidentally hit the AM button and heard a man ranting and raving about something. I HAD to keep listening to find out what he was talking about because he was serious as a heart attack the way he was going on. Then it became obvious that he was talking about Obama. I registered to vote for the first time in 2008 and I was going to vote for Obama but I never made it to the polls because I really felt in my heart that he would be assassinated if he won. But after he won, and time went on and it didn’t seem like he was in any real danger I stopped paying attention, didn’t watch the news or anything like that, just went on with my life. I had no idea what was really going on. I’m registered independent but now that I’m paying attention, or because I’m getting older, I’m finding out that I actually have conservative views. One, how would the presidential election change the status of the 13th Amendment (see Joe Biden’s chains statement) or lead to secession of the states?   Let’s see. Bushs worst year around $450 billion I believe. Obama hasn’t had one under a trillion. We have a couple failing bankrupt entitlement. Let’s add another one! Europe is financially collapsing. Hey let’s do what they’re doing! Steve you so blatantly can’t defend the direction the left is taking us. All you can do is say “nuh uh, you would make it worse!” Honestly the endgame isn’t hard to figure out. It’s Europe. We may indeed be unpopular but history will prove us right. What the country is doing now is unsustainable by all objective measures.
