What Tech Sin Did Oprah (Or Her Intern) Get Caught Committing?

Among the 60 or so things on Oprah’s Favorite Things list this year is Microsoft’s first tablet — Surface. The television star who owns her own cable channel OWN has been promoting the tablet on Twitter as well as her website, but it turns out that she might be more of an iPad fan.

Those following Oprah on Twitter via their iPhones or iPads, which uses the Tweetbot Apple app, might have noticed that Oprah’s tweets about surface were made via an iPad. Here’s an example of the evidence via Zagg:

On her Favorite Things post about the device, Oprah described it as feeling like a Mercedes-Benz.

“The full-size keyboard built right into the cover makes work easy, the very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight, the less than a pound-and-a-half weight makes a great alternative to a laptop, and the many other features make it fun for work and play,” she continued. “Now, that’s a wowser!”

She’s also advised iPad owning fans about some of the benefits of Surface (see the tweets below).

To be fair, Romain Dillet for TechCrunch pointed out that Oprah never claimed to be a Surface only user. Dillet also called attention to the fact that Twitter doesn’t have an app available for Microsoft Windows devices yet. So Oprah wouldn’t have had an app on Surface to update Twitter with. She could however have used the device to tweet directly from the website. Not doing this, Dillet wrote, “makes her look like a sell-out.”

It also could have been a staff member who was posting the tweets for Oprah who didn’t think posting through an Apple app would have made a difference.

Oprah isn’t the first to be caught in such a blunder. Earlier this year, model Kate Upton was spotted at a Samsung event for its Galaxy Note 10.1 with — gasp — an iPhone in plain view.

    Regarding Obama, she knew he was not qualified in 2008, but she did it anyway just for her ratings!!!!

    This is a rediculous story. There is so much REAL news to cover that drivel like this reduces this media outlet’s credibility and leads readers to believe that you think we are all just as stupid as all the other media outlets think we are. Makes me embarased to admit I’m a subscriber. Step it up people!

    Oprah is commenting on Microsoft’s new tablet but she doesn’t realize that God placed her name on a tablet of stone (The Rosetta stone – 196 BC.) Some of the comments posted here indicate that Oprah is looking for publicity for her network. According to the Bible Math Code, each of the named individuals listed on the Rosetta stone will have a message revealed that pertains to their individual lives.       All I know about her was she was originally named after the daughter inlaw of Naomi that chose to go back to the pagan nation not like Ruth to go with her mother-in law and follow the True God. Yahuah Elohim. Its very interesting when you study names in the Bible; they really meant something and when they were changed it meant identity – destiny had changed. Look at Jacob (heal catcher, conniver who became Israel wrestled with God) Abram became Abraham, Saul became Paul on and on.       Oprah was deliberately named for the woman who turned her back on the True God and went back into paganism. Hmm

      I need to correct myself – not the Last Names but NAMES.
      Also Oprah has told the story that she was named for Orpah. It was a spelling error of he name that changed it to Oprah. So the intent was to name her after the one who went back into paganism

    Probably the most ridiculous story I’ve heard in recent memory. And considering the garbage that gets propagated that’s something. First, there is no twitter app for Surface. Then, should simply may not have made the switchover yet. Third, who gives a darn about what Oprah likes. She also likes obama, remember?

    Please, spend your time on something more edifying – like say, the comparative worthiness of the Surface. This garbage is wasting space on my rss feed.

    I do not bother myself with anything Oprah does or endorses as I lost all respect for her when she came out to support her BFF, Obama. I personally hope she loses everything when she pays her fair share of taxes on millionaires.
