What Should America’s Children Be Taught About Thanksgiving? These People’s Answers Might Shock You
Even with a sluggish economy and painfully high unemployment rates, the United States of America is still undoubtedly the greatest nation on earth. Many Americans would argue that the Thanksgiving holiday is a great opportunity to teach children about the importance of coming together as one country and being, well, thankful.
But not everyone agrees with that assessment.
Revealing Politics conducted a number of man-on-the-street interviews and asked people what our schools should be teaching America’s students about Thanksgiving. In fact, some were asked what young kindergarteners should be taught about Thanksgiving. Their answers just might put a damper on your holiday spirit.
“What do you think we should teach our kindergarteners about Thanksgiving,” Revealing Politics’ Caleb Bonham asks in the video.
“The truth,” one man replies. “They need to know about the racism and the violence that went on.”
In response to the same exact question, another woman said we should teach kindergarteners that Thanksgiving is “totally meaningless” and “we massacred millions and millions of Native Americans.” Ouch. That’s quite a heavy kindergarten lesson.
“Well, our nation was founded on slavery, genocide, murder, theft and mass injustice and it continues to this day,” yet another female respondent said.
Some were asked to respond what “students” in general should be learning about Thanksgiving, while others were a little more indifferent to the holiday.
“Personally, I don’t really give a sh*t about Thanksgiving,” another man said. Another gentleman echoed his feelings, saying America should just do away with Thanksgiving all together.
Watch the video below via Revealing Politics:
The video’s producer Ben Howe, a RedState contributor and Revealing Politics creative director, told TheBlaze on Wednesday that the respondents in the video displayed “repulsive anti-Americanism and thought.”
“No nation on earth is blameless. No people are blameless,” he added. “Ideally something like Thanksgiving is an opportunity for us to share in our common humanity not our common feelings of guilt. But given that it is a uniquely American holiday, I guess these people just can’t pass up the opportunity to trash her.”
Howe went on: “I’m not saying we don’t bear any responsibility for any scars that were left in our history. Clearly America has had its moral failings. The point is that Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time of coming together, but for these people and so many like them they just can’t let go and prefer to live in a world where blame always rests on the shoulders of someone else.”
Exit Question: What do you think we should be teaching America’s children about Thanksgiving?

It’s not just that they “can’t let go”. They say these things because they’ve been led to believe that by doing so they are morally superior, sympathetic, and noble. They have a “cause”. However, their compassion and understanding only extend to politically protected groups.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 11:39pmThis is what you get when you have “chosen people” Marxist controlling the media as well as Marxists infesting unions. The teacher’s union are infested with revolutionary Marxists just like the media. Propaganda is a very powerful tool and the “chosen people” figured out how to use it effectively.
Notice too how powerful unions have become in the last 8 years? They ran Hostess out of business, even refusing a 2nd chance to reach an agreement before filing bankruptcy. They chose being unemployed over having a job. They are planning on running a union style walkout at Walmart tomorrow. They tried to takeover Wisconsin last year. There were a couple of other union strong arm things I can’t think of right now, but it tells me they are as powerful as ever.

If any of them really gave a da*n about the AMERICAN INDIANS’ plight, for example, they could be volunteering to tutor and mentor troubled youth who need help with their schooling, or donating $$$$ to poverty-stricken Indian reservations. Instead, all they spew is HATRED FOR AMERICA. This is not only evil, it is also tragic–for all of us.
GIVING THANKS is GOOD FOR THE SOUL. THAT is the answer that any TRUE AMERICAN would have given. We should be teaching children that GIVING THANKS shows God how grateful we are for all our blessings and teaches us to be compassionate and sharing with those less fortunate. AMEN!

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 10:36amMy deep studies of the Rwandan genocide leave me almost in horror every time someone misuses that term.
There’s no shame in admitting that many natives died after the arrival of whites in the Americas (some estimates put it at close to 95%!). It is a tragedy of human loss. But, it is NOT a genocide or anything close.
When you use the word genocide for this, as if ANY of the whites were actually trying to kill ANY of those natives, first you cheapen the meaning of REAL genocides, and second, you completely mis-assign causality and ascribe motivations to people that simply weren’t there. Diseases (which NO ONE understood back then, since germ theory wasn’t invented until hundreds of years later) don’t pick and choose who they kill. Either you have the antibodies and heal, or you don’t and die. The pilgrims had EVERY interest in living peacefully with the natives, in most cases did, and in some cases were forced to defend themselves against groups who thought torture, human sacrifice, kidnapping, and other crimes were acceptable forms of warfare. Even when they had to defend themselves, they were NEVER interested in killing ALL natives–just the ones who perpetrated the violence.
REAL genocides happen when people INTEND to murder ALL of another group. Period.

Doesn’t it remind you of the movie “Idiocracy”?
It’s the exact same principle. They breed like rats in the cities to incompetent/distracted/uncaring parents who leave them to basically be raised and indoctrinated in public schools, and end up knowing only dependence and a single intolerant point of view.
Just as in “Idiocracy”, they become agitated and angry at anyone that seems “smart” and/or presents them with facts that challenge what they’ve been taught to believe is true because they would have to first admit that they can be and were made fools of by those they depend on and who shaped their views.
I guess that makes us an army of “Not-Sure”s (character from the movie). Hope there are no monster-truck-gladiator-vs-Yugo-in-arena scenes in our future as in the movie. I don’t see how Lib/Progs can watch that movie and NOT see the obvious connections to where their policies are logically and inevitably taking us to an almost identical outcome.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 2:29amThis situation we find ourselves in hasn’t happened by chance. This (plan) has been in effect for many, many years. I believe the modern version started when we the people sat silent while one woman and nine, unelected, black robed men threw G_d from my classroom. Soon after hollywood began to become more and more provocative. TV shows started to push the envelope, sex was given a free pass, all in the name of more freedom.
Freedom to do what?
To speak your mind? We already had that.
Freedom of religion? We had that as well.
Freedom was NOT what was intended, license is what they were after. license to be as corrupt and as base as possible. Women and then girls were told that men only wanted sex from them, so, why not have the same attitude, after all, women are equal, and we the people ate it up. We remained the silent majority.
I ask all of you who didn’t think America was worth getting off yer ass to go and vote for a good and honest, family man, and allowed Obama to continue to “fundamentally transform” America, how the hell can you justify letting this country down at such a time as this?

Pasteur (mid-1800′s) and Koch (1880′s ) devised a more comprehensive theory that included all diseases based on bacterial infections. It still took some time before sterilization was applied in hospitals and on the battleground. Otherwise right, people of that time had no idea that blankets could carry infection. Whoever came up with that preposterous anachronistic idea probably hoped that people would gobble it up because of ignorance.

They were all doing this crap to each other: Mayans, Toltecs, Aztecs, Native North Americans. These people were straight up cruel and sinister to each other and practiced divination and sorcery to the nth degree. I traveled in Canada and United STates among these tribes for 10 years. The “Christians” among them, only 5 percent are decent people. Everybody else is cruel and hateful and extremely vicious. They called them “Hostiles” for a reason. It’s who they were and who they still are. Nobody should care about being politically correct. Every Native North American that follows Jesus is lovely. Everybody else has problems, bitterness, unforgiveness and a host of other problems. Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:41pmI’d like these ‘historical experts’ to help me out here. If traveling to a faraway land, then landing and farming/building/developing the land is cause to accuse said adventures of being racists, slave owners and murderers, then no other nation should exist except Israel.
Every piece of land on this planet was taken over by some group of wanderers/discoverers/hopeful people. None of Europe would exist without individuals landing on unseen and unknown territories.
Spain landed a ship in Mexico and ‘occupied’ the people who already lived there. That is why those in Mexico speak Spanish…and not Mexican or English. America had a war with Mexico, but never ‘occupied’ the people. They simply left the land to the Spaniards/Mexicans, asking only that they live in peace.
The Pilgrims froze and starved in winter and fought the heat and insects in the summer, yet they built something special. I make no excuses for ‘occupation’ of the Indian lands. It was wrong. But I am unwilling to toss aside the friendships formed between the Pilgrims and the Indians. And I am unwilling to forget the sacrifices of the hard-working Indians and the Europeans who are responible for inventing electricity, indoor plumbing, the internet or building safe buildings.
And that is part of what Thanksgiving is about. Stopping the hatred and anger, joining together and building the greatest nation on earth. No apologies here. Happy Thanksgiving.

Enforced working together (collectivism) is communism. To coerce, communism uses an anti-thesis of working together–class warfare, other villains and mortal enemies… always creates an impression of a threat external or internal (while disregarding real threats that do not fir in their ideological narratives) to make coercion seem as lesser evil choice. Neo-marxists are just a bit more sophisticated about it. They use deconstruction and re-framing to obscure meaning and to hide intent. They also use internalization of manufactured guilt and offer absolutions in form of modern indulgences.

We were so busy working to get “stuff” we didn’t see this coming, so yes, some of us old enough to be the parents of the idiots in the video are partially to blame. That said, when we grew up you could trust the school systems to teach the three basics, reading, writing and math. We got history, but our teachers were the WWII era folks who had a love for this country. Their kids were the hippies of the 60s and they were the first batch of idiots going into the universities and colleges being run by the communists and socialists. See below, taken from the 45 goals of communism:
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
18. Gain control of all student newspapers.
Our enemies are patient and it is paying off for them.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:36pmYou know what I’m thankful for?
That most people in America are not as ungrateful or negative as these people.
I’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving with my family. You interviewees fell free to wallow in your negativity like pigs in filth, which that adds another thing I’m thankful for: that none of you uber-pessimists will be anywhere near my Thanksgiving celebration.

Posted on November 22, 2012 at 3:19amThank-you REPAIRSEA! It really does matter when parents teach good values, because who a parent sends out into the world matters. And by the way, these people who spew like the ones in this story are truly ungrateful malcontents!

Posted on November 22, 2012 at 7:53amDon’t worry, instead of being thankful for what they have today, tomorrow they’ll be trampling each other to death on Black Friday trying to get new stuff to give them validation in their lives (which will only last a few days anyway). It makes me believe that in a round about way Darwin had a point….

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:34pmAnd this attitude, if really pervasive, is why this country is in such dire straights. Not one person in this clip mentions God.
I think one of the most incredible things I have ever heard Glenn Beck say was on 8/28/2010 in Washington DC. He asked people gathered to look across the reflecting pool towards the Washington Monument. When we view that monument he said, we do not see it’s scars, but they are there. We see what the monument stands for, tall and erect – a tribute to a great man and first president. The scars are there. The stone changes color about 1/3rd of the way up, and now there is damage from the earthquake. Glenn’s point was that so to is America. We have scars, like slavery and the genocide by Andrew Jackson against the American Indians. But America is bigger than its scars… We also shed blood to purge ourselves of Slavery. America is great because at our core… America has always been good.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:48pmScars are signs of character. Give thanks to the Lord for all he has done for you. To many look at the negative and dwell upon that but everyday there is something to be thankful for. We bring most bad things upon ourselves then pass the blame. God wants only good for us. It is our choice what we focus on. Lord thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon this nation ..guide us back to you Lord we have wandered.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 2:13pmi gotta repeat,, GENOCIDE is the wiping out of a whole nation of ppl… not the killing of some who were troublemakers. I agree that sometimes the killing on both sides was unnecessary,, but in the days of Andrew Jackson,, et al,,, that was the only way they knew to handle it. War was common to folks,, albeit not liked,, no one sane likes war. But it’s a necessary evil to keep our ppl safe from tyranny. I don’t believe that many know the definition of the word. GO look it up. It’s getting closer and closer,, if we don’t wake up. That is, those who can effect a difference. One retired housewife,,can’t..at least no way that i know of. I am a Godly person and yes,, there’s been a lot of lack of mention of His name. BUT….i don’t want to use His name willly nilly and turn away ppl who might think im just a bible thumper looking to thump heads. Simply, I believe the parents are to blame.,,, as one previous commenter stated. The children today are raised to think things should just be handed to them,,, from parents who did… OR the opposite,, parents that procreated and then were not responsible for one reason or another,, drugs,, alchohol,, or just needing to work ,, w/o both parents to look after the kids. NOT ALL parents on either side were/are like this,, but obviously a heck of a lot of them,, just look at the results.! I know MY kids came up responsible workaholic adults that realized that the road to freedom was a job and hard work and perseverence!

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:30pm..If you tell them about the Pilgrims & Indians having the first Thanksgiving you may be wrong as well….
http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/history/us/ah0026.htm
An interesting bit of trivia is that the first American Thanksgiving was actually celebrated on September 8, 1565 in St. Augustine, Florida. The Native Americans and Spanish settlers held a feast and the Holy Mass was offered.
A second similar “Thanksgiving” celebration occurred on American soil on April 30, 1598 in Texas when Don Juan de Oñate declared a day of Thanksgiving to be commemorated by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:30pmThe truth is that the early settlers and natives DID eat together, and that those settlers would not have survived without the assistance of those who knew how to live on the land. Time enough to go on and let kids know about the darker side of colonization. What is important is to stress the idealism of things like the Declaration of independence, and holidays like Thanksgiving. People may constantly fall short, but they give us something to try to achieve. There is an element of self loathing and hatred in some of these answers that is chilling.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:30pmWe should teach them the truth! That’s it is a day to thank God for the blessings that He provides for us to have a free nation where the blessing of hard work and then the abundance that hard work and God provides for each and every one of us. This story is enough to really piss me off!

Posted on November 22, 2012 at 10:32amAgreed!
Being a descendant of 3 mayflower compact signers (Stephen Hopkins, Francis Cooke, Edward Doty) I find this revisionist history offensive. As written by William Bradford the harvest fest of 1621 was indeed a Godly blessing, An English-speaking Pawtuxet named Samoset helped the colonists form an alliance with the local Wampanoags, who taught them how to hunt local animals, gather shellfish and grow corn, beans and squash. The Plymouth colonists celebrated their first successful harvest with a three-day festival of thanksgiving.
Massasoit, chief of the Wampanoags showed up at the colony with 90 warriors, (out numbering the surviving “pilgrim” males, 3 to 1) . The Chief and his entourage were invited to join in the celebration, where for three days they consumed nearly all their stores.
The result of this event cemented an alliance between the Wampanoags and the colonists; where they understood each were bonded together and would mutually share in the times of need. This is the truth of Thanksgiving; lost to revisionist historians.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:29pmWe have a lot of work to do to try to undo the mental pollution the liberals brain-washed our children with. Two generations are already lost to the liberal democracy of the public school system, but with charter schools and Republican Governors, maybe we “save” the subsequent generations. I don’t know, but if those respondents are typical, this country is in “deep sneakers”.
Folks, read the book “The 4th Turning” and you’ll get a notion of what to expect for the foreseeable future. It’s not a book of predictions, but rather projections based on history and societal “evolution”.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:29pmWe all have so much to be thankful for. We need to celebrate each other and our country, not continue to divide and trash it. If people continue this way, we will never be a great country again. Where has whining and negativity gotten anyone? (Except Obama reelected).
I will not let people like this rent space in my head. My family and
I are going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope everyone’s family will as well. God Bless America!! Go Florida State Seminoles!!

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:24pm“What do you think we should be teaching America’s children about Thanksgiving?”
That God is the center of America: It’s creation, its foundation and its moral background.
Anyone who says otherwise would sell your soul for a hit/shot of the drug/drink of their choice.
Oh and they are lying.

Posted on November 21, 2012 at 7:23pmThere are Dias de la Accion de Gracias in Latin American countries. They are thankful for what they have and GOD’s DIVINE protection over them. Of course, only CHRISTIANS (including all denominations and the Catholic Church as well) and JEWS understand the blessings of DIVINE LOVE, INTERVENTION, GUIDANCE AND PROTECTION. ISRAEL and AMERICA have been so blessed by GOD.
Those who don’t know, don’t know THE AUTHOR, THE CREATOR, THE HEALER, THE FATHER.
Their answers reveal the spiritual vacuum in their lives.
We should be praying for them while there is yet time.
