If You Are Thankful For One Thing This Thanksgiving, Give Thanks You’re Not a Part of These Family Photos
May we all count our blessings.
You could be wearing this
or this
Your dad might not be wearing a shirt
You could be threatened by drumsticks
You could have been attacked by them
Or gotten a paper cut
You could have been offered a pigs head
Or been forced into a reenactment
…a very real one
Tired of counting your blessings?
well were not done yet
You could be on this couch
or getting salmonella
You could have food in your hair
Or have to eat turkey off the ground!
So enjoy this beautiful fall
and take comfort that these guys did not cook your turkey
You are not sitting through a Biden speech at your dinner
And you don’t have to make your case at this table
You are probably not getting looked at funny
Or startled
So look on the bright side
And get dressed up
And appreciate all the family God gave you
And that you’re not the turkey
So say your prayers and be thankful…

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 7:44amIt was easy to spot the two disfunctional families in the pictures. But all of them really brings back memories of when all my crazy uncles, aunts and cousins would come for a family gathering…..
I really miss those times.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 11:52amI had to turn down a solicitation from Nuance to upgrade my Dragon Naturally Speaking dictation software! After listening to all the wonderful things these industrious people had accomplished for the new release, I had to say ‘No’! When asked why, I said ‘I haven’t used it much, money is tight and I’m just not ready to make a purchase desision right now!’ If they hadn’t just awaken me from my depression sleep, I would have said, “I guess you didn’t know we just had an election, my county is busy paving roads (that don’t need paving) and raising taxes to pay for it (I have to tighten MY belt when things get tough, why can’t government EVER tighten THEIR belt?), I had to choose between employer-provided healthcare and a job–I chose the job, so I can pay 2/3 less for my healthcare than it was going to cost my employer!, I’m tired of ‘rescuing’ GM, Chrysler, THE banks, mortgage holders, student loan holders, facing rising tuitions, paying sales taxes twice on the same car (because the State misinformed me when I paid off my lease and took possession of MY vehicle, had to HIRE a TAX ACCOUNTANT to write a letter to IRS telling them that I HAD FILED CORRECTLY (IRS agreed, $300 later), face higher ELECTRIC bills, pay for everyone else’s 3 years of unemployment (I didn’t qualify, because I was self-employed before I became unemployed–I am now underemployed), face sticker-shock every time I enter the grocery store, listen to the state threaten NEW TOLLS to soften u

Dodged a major bullet…I saw there was a web site called akwardfamilyphotos.com…tell me YOU weren’t thinking you’d be in there? From that Thanksgiving when Gramps drank too much of Uncle Dave’s homemade ‘eggnog’, and Granny got mad and went home with her sister, to CLEVELAND!?
Wait, that was my family…happy turkey day to all, God bless us all. Please.

Posted on November 22, 2012 at 7:44pmYeah, one of the Thanksgiving stories my family had was the time my 3 year old little sister was toddling around visiting each of the grown ups and sampling their drinks. They were all busy in their conversations so no one noticed until she started staggering around. Good times.

The turkey was euthanized, after becoming sick, by the Vet. (Death Panel?).
The future is now!

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 12:49amI am convinced, the Griswalds were based off of my family, including the wacky distant relatives. Only difference is my parents had 3 kids instead of 2. Never a dull moment and always good laughs, I love it.

Posted on November 22, 2012 at 6:21pmOh, very funny. Our family always had our pictures taken around somebodies dining table. I think that is all we did was eat. Especially the one where they are all asleep on the couch. Just life.
