6 ‘Naughty’ Companies That Are Allegedly ‘Christmas Unfriendly’
Each holiday season, the Liberty Counsel (LC), a conservative, non-profit litigation and education organization, publishes its “Naughty and Nice List.” The purpose of the endeavor is to inform the public about the “retailers that acknowledge Christmas” and those businesses “that pretend it doesn’t exist.”
Naturally, those companies landing on the “nice” list are those which embrace Christmas and refrain from watering down the holiday’s true spirit. On the flip side, “naughty” companies are those that, in some way, purportedly dismiss the Christmas tradition.
According to LC, the designations are made based on the organization’s research and on reports from consumers. As each holiday season progresses, companies are added to both the “naughty” and “nice” roster. Below, find six of the most interesting and well-known brands on the “naughty” list.
–
American Eagle Outfitters, Inc.
LC claims that American Eagle is had an “egregious disregard” for Christmas over the past five years. As for its web site, the organization writes that the company “profits off colors, sights, sounds and symbols of ‘Christmas’ yet remains exclusive of ‘Christmas.’” The final verdict? With no products and lacking in Christmas spirit, LC concludes that the company is “‘Christmas’ unfriendly.”

–
Gap
Like American Eagle, the GAP doesn’t use the word “Christmas” anywhere on its web site. Considering that no items are sold in relation to the holiday, LC has added it to its “naughty” list as well. The group accuses the company of purging the word from its “stores, commercials or other advertisements.”

–
Garmin
According to LC, Garmin should become known for much more than its GPS systems and other technologies. An analysis of the company’s web site apparently found no contemporary mentions of “Christmas.” However, the organization reports that the Christian holiday has been mentioned in the past. LC wants shoppers to express their “disappointment over the company’s non-acknowledgement of ‘Christmas.’”

–
Old Navy
Owned by Gap, Inc., Old Navy has also come under fire by LC for not promoting “Christmas” in its stores. While the word “holidays” is touted on the company’s web site, Christmas, itself, is not promoted. Considering the GAP’s handling of this issue on its own site, there’s no surprise there.

–
Tractor Supply Company
A seemingly odd inclusion, LC claims that Tractor Supply Company’s web site includes no mention of Christmas. While the company does offer a “Happy Holidays” gift card, as of today there is no mention of the Christian holiday on the front page of the company. But it must be mentioned that, upon searching for “Christmas,” numerous items (see below) pertaining to the holiday are for sale by Tractor Supply Company.

–
Abercrombie & Fitch
Last, but not least, we feature the clothing company Abercrombie & Fitch. Currently, LC has the business listed as being anti-Christmas. While the group claims the holiday isn’t mentioned anywhere on the Abercrombie web site, TheBlaze found it prominently featured on its homepage. Perhaps this change went into effect after LC published this year’s list. Here’s the pro-Christmas screen shot.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 11:13pmLet’s face it. Companies are in the business of making money, not promoting one or other religion. To do otherwise is a disservice to their investors.
If a company can make extra money by proclaiming the Christmas season on their website, they’ll do it. I’m not sure that represents anything but the atheist Ayn Rand philosophy though.

Posted on November 24, 2012 at 1:10amThis news won’t change my buying habits one bit. Evangelicals need to understand that Christmas has its roots in heathenism and was ‘christianized’ by Romanism.
The forefathers of America coming over on the Mayflower would have been as likely to ostracize merchants that DO recognize Christmas as not.
My how far we have fallen.
I look at where something is made. I refuse to buy stuff made in a Communist country or by companies that are actively against biblical morality. That, to me is far more important than the (non)observance of an idol-worshiping-based holiday.

There isn’t a war against Christmas. Christians are just whinny little bitches; mad that the world doesn’t revolve around them.
“Happy Holidays” does not equal “Happy every holiday but Christmas”. It’s inclusive, not exclusive. It says “I wish you well regardless of your religion or creed”.

Posted on November 24, 2012 at 12:22pmGrannie – the “mas” isn’t spanish. Christmas = “Christ’s Mass”. It’s a catholic holiday stolen from the pagans and glossed over with a slight veneer of Christianity. This is historical fact.
Messiah didn’t tell us to celebrate his birth (although I believe we have enough clues to tell us when it was and there’s a holiday given directly by the Lord that points to it). He did tell us to celebrate Passover in remembrance of him as the Passover Lamb, the perfect sacrifice who takes away the sins of the world.
Isn’t using a pagan holiday to celebrate him kind of like a wife telling her husband she wants to celebrate his birthday on her abusive ex-husbands birthday with all of the ex’s favorite foods and traditions? We have been redeemed out of darkness! Why would we throw our freedom back in the face of our Redeemer by wallowing in sin? Shall we sin that grace may increase? No! Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial!

Their dog food is better quality than Walmart, and costs less than the brands at Petco. They had a great deal on cat food this weekend that I took advantage of. I got a month’s worth at 15% off what it would’ve cost at Walmart. As for the other stores, except for the extreme sales at Old Navy, I wouldn’t shop at any of the rest anyway. Posted on November 23, 2012 at 5:59pmThe Federal Holiday of Christmas is NOT a Christian holiday. Christians, in the old days (ok – 100 years ago) took the day off from work (when most people worked 6-7 days a week) with the blessing of their employers. Since people were taking the day off anyway and the holiday excluded Jews the Federal government declared December 25th the Federal Holiday of Christmas.
On a national scale Christ was replaced with the secular Santa Claus, wreaths, Christmas trees and the exchanging of gifts. This was to include Jews and atheists into the fun of the season and bring the country together.
At the time, Christians were outraged that their Holy Day had been co-opted by the government into a secular free-for-all, but for the most part it worked out quite well and everybody could play at Santa, exchanging gifts, and wishing good will to all men. And Christians would still take the day to go to church to celebrate the birth of Christ.
Today, we have moron atheists claiming that Santa Claus and Christmas trees are religious.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 6:08pmI’ve known a lot of people over the years upset at the anti-Christmas campaign by the leftists. These are people who are Jewish or agnostic or atheist (I won’t even include the Christians here) and have fond memories of the Christmas Seasons of their past and resent the nonsense these people (leftists) insist on perpetrating all over the country.
The whole point of the protest against Christmas is to destroy an American Tradition and these people know it. That is what the angst is about. Christians KNOW how to keep the meaning of the season – but the traditional secularists or other religionists who grew up enjoying the holiday resent it every bit as much as I resent the left messing up every fun tradition America has.

“In 1963, Dayton’s brings the magic of the holidays and beloved children’s stories to life through a new holiday auditorium show. The free event becomes an annual tradition as guests stroll through animated vignettes and visit Santa’s workshop. Over the next four decades, memorable tales such as A Christmas Carol, Cinderella and Harry Potter are brought to life for entire families to enjoy.”

Children do not understand the value of getting something of non material value for a holiday. They’re children.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 2:30pmI have to agree with you SE. Thanksgiving doesn’t seem to have any meaning for people any more but to eat big. Day after get what I want at everyone elses expense. I am ashamed of my fellow humans.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 1:07pmSeems to me the problem is not those “taking the Christ out of Christmas” but rather those taking the Christ out of Christianity.

Posted on November 23, 2012 at 2:34pmi agree i think the usa has entered the apostate church. i hear and read about what God is doing in other countries. this country seems to think they can go on without obeying the word of God even the ones that go to church. they think God owes them something, heaven without the narrow walk. He will say i never knew you.
