There’s a shopping center in Alberta, Canada, called the West Edmonton Mall. In this mall, there’s a pool. In this pool, there tends to be a few rebellious Canadian males.
No, seriously. Some guys really dig the idea of swimming in this thing.
In fact, here’s a video of a guy jumping into the pool from a second floor railing in the mall:
[Warning: Strong language]:
“Apparently, base jumping is a phenominon [sic] in which people jump from a fixed object and then parachute their ways to safety,” Nadya Domingo writes for And Pop.“This dude was completely without a parachute, so I have no idea where the ‘base’ aspect comes in.”
And in case you’re wondering what happened to the jumper, from the YouTube video description:
Alright, so everyone’s asking whether they got away and if they got caught. The people in the video ran to the nearest exit and got there safely. The guy who jumped in went outside to the vehicle while his friends came back inside to buy him a new set of clothes. He was back inside the mall 20 minutes after the jump.
Shine on, you crazy Canadian diamonds.

Nov. 24, 2012 at 5:33pmAnd you big city sissies think you are smart..you couldn’t make it 2 weeks in the woods. Some of us would be on vacation. You’d cry for mommies. Go watch more TMZ, jimmy fallon, then play call o duty, then more uterd, or hip-hop shows. You’re gonna need all those skills soon enough.

Dec. 1, 2012 at 3:35pmYour commentary on ‘big city sissies’ seemed to have nothing to do with the ‘man jumping…’ Video, but instead just a vitriolic rant, which I feel warrants a reply.
I’ll start by saying that for my part, this ‘big city sissy’ will use his Ranger training and the experience gained in the rice patties of Vietnam to help those other sissies who haven’t had the good fortune to have had such ‘beneficial’ life experiences, rather than ridiculing them for not spending their lives in the woods (which I hear that makes you kind of … What’s that called … antisocial)
Perhaps your demeanor would be better suited to the local Occupy Wall St franchise, since they also enjoy denigrating the middle class for the sin of having to live in cities in order to work for a living, an unfamiliar concept to OWS, perhaps another thing you have in common with them.
So WTSHTF, it will be reassuring to know that such a survival savvy mountain man such as yourself will be there, knowing he’s only going to be mocking and criticizing the less skilled and less self reliant.
So I am curious, Are you sure you wouldn’t just be more comfortable limiting your web interactions to the likes of John Stewart and Chris Mathiews?
I’d like to ramble on but I’ve got to go to work now. (And fortunately for all, I’m out of characters)

Nov. 25, 2012 at 11:43amno kidding! When I lived in FL, drunk, dumb-@@@ kids would do this off balconies, Literally everyday in the news were reports of spring breakers deaths. I was horrified, my Gram (who lived winters down there for 20+ years) said this happened Every Year.

Nov. 24, 2012 at 12:25pmAhhh… a normal title for once. None of that “The moment a man jumps into a mall pool from the second floor” or “One of the craziest jumps you have probably ever seen.”
