UK Foster Couple Lose Children for Being Members of Conservative Party

A UK couple had their three foster children taken away after social workers decided that the couple’s support for the supposedly “racist” policies of the UK Independence Party (Ukip) made them “unsuitable” caregivers, The Telegraph reports.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Ukip, it’s the conservative wing of British politics. If you want an understanding of the group’s principles, look no further than Nigel Farage, founding member and party leader:

“It is total and utter failure. This ship, the euro Titanic has now hit the iceberg and sadly there simply aren’t enough life boats,” said Farage, an infamously skeptical critic of the eurozone, to the European Parliament.

The Ukip advocates lower taxes, limited government, freer markets, and immigration reform. However, to certain social workers in the Labour-controlled Rotherham borough, supporting the above makes you an “unsuitable” foster parent.

The parents claim they were made to feel like criminals and that they had a “black mark” on them for supporting the conservative group. And now it has culminated in the loss of their foster children, one boy and two girls.

Unsurprisingly, Farage unloaded on the Rotherham borough’s decision to take the children away, calling it “a bloody outrage” and “political prejudice of the very worst kind.”

Tim Loughton, the former children’s minister, agrees with Farage.

“I will be very concerned if decisions have been made about the children’s future that were based on misguided political correctness around ethnic considerations,” he said.

“Being a supporter of a mainstream political party is not a deal-breaker when it comes to looking after children if it means they can have a loving family home,” he added.

The foster couple wishes to remain anonymous because they don’t want the children they cared for being involved. However, it has been revealed that they are both in their 50s, the husband is a retired Royal Navy reservist of more than 30 years who currently works with disabled people, and the wife is a “qualified nursery nurse.”

It is also being reported that they have spent seven years acting as foster parents and have looked after about a dozen different children.

So let’s do a quick recap: The husband spent three decades as a reservist in the Royal Navy and currently works with disabled people. The wife is a qualified nursery nurse. The two of them have cared for dozens of children in the past seven years. But they’re “unfit” to act as foster parents now because they support a conservative political group?

That’s “tolerance.”

The Telegraph describes the moment when the couple were visited by the anti-Ukip social worker:

… they received a visit out of the blue from the children’s social worker at the Labour-run council and an official from their fostering agency.

They were told that the local safeguarding children team had received an anonymous tip-off that they were members of Ukip.

An anonymous tip?

“I was dumbfounded. Then my question to both of them was, ‘What has Ukip got to do with having the children removed?’” the wife said in the recent Telegraph article.

“Then one of them said, ‘Well, Ukip have got racist policies.’ The implication was that we were racist. [The social worker] said Ukip does not like European people and wants them all out of the country to be returned to their own countries,” she said.

“I’m sat there and I’m thinking, ‘What the hell is going off here?’ because I wouldn’t have joined Ukip if they thought that. I’ve got mixed race in my family. I said, ‘I am absolutely offended that you could come in my house and accuse me of being a member of a racist party.’”

The wife continued: “These kids have been loved. These kids have been treated no differently to our own children. We wouldn’t have taken these children on if we had been racist.”

But despite her words, the boy was taken away the next day and the two girls were removed at the end of the week.

The wife said the social worker told her: “We would not have placed these children with you had we known you were members of Ukip because it wouldn’t have been the right cultural match.”

The wife said she was left “bereft,” adding: “We felt like we were criminals. From having a little baby in my arms, suddenly there was an empty cot. I knew she wouldn’t have been here forever, but usually there is a build-up of several weeks. I was in tears.”

Her husband added: “If we were moving the children on to happier circumstances we would be feeling warm and happy. To have it done like that, it’s beyond the pale.”

A spokesman for Rotherham metropolitan borough council issued the following statement on the matter:

After a group of sibling children were placed with agency foster carers, issues were raised regarding the long-term suitability of the carers for these particular children.

With careful consideration, a decision was taken to move the children to alternative care. We continue to keep the situation under review.

But “review” or not, Ukip party leader Farage is furious with the decision.

“I am outraged politically and very upset for them. I think this is the kind of thing where we need some sort of decree from a Government minister that Ukip is not a racist party,” Farage said.

David Goosey, the chairman of the trustees at Community Foster care, an independent fostering charity, said:

If this is accurate and there are no other extraneous matters that have concerned the authorities, then it is completely ridiculous and no self-respecting authority should be stopping people fostering on the grounds of their membership of Ukip.

  This story enrages me beyond words. If such were to happen to me I would become a cold implacable person, a creature of vengeance.
  
  I would let a week pass, and let things get settled down.
  
  If after that week, my children were not returned to me I would go hunting. Everyone involved in abduction of my children, and I would not stop until they took me down, which they eventually would.
  
  But this is beyond the pale, and some things are worth dying for.
  
  If my little “escapade” did nothing more than put a tinge of fear in the “public servants” that did this sort of thing, and perhaps made them think a little more critically before stealing someones child, I would consider my sacrifice more than worth it.
  
  When the State becomes a monster that can take your children for these reasons then it’s time for new leadership, and perhaps a new system.
  
  If this is what the world is coming too, then there is no place for me.

  Jumbo, the bullies wil keep bullying as long as we cry. I know it’s hard to do, especially in a case like this, but I’ve learned to wish the well, leave them alone, offer no help, and let their bad decisions bite them in the butt for me. Bully back. Use their socialism against them, whenever you are in a position of holding the bully stick, claim power and decide what’s ‘fair’ to your advantage and benefit. ‘Fair’ is subjective and based on the decision of who’s in charge. Whenever you’re in charge, be ‘fair’ and make the deal best for yourself. Leave them crying, for once.
  On a another note, nextdoor to me is a house with cars pulling in and out of the drive every fifteen minutes, no one in the house works, two intrained, intact male pit bulls and three foster kids.
  The government doesn’t want responsible foster parents, they need those kids to vote for the government party.
  Sometimes tht psychology backfires. A child that has been manhandled by the system very well might go the other way as they get older.

  Um, some of you chest beaters do realize the children weren’t the biological offspring of the couple in question? By all means, give the leftists what they want: Just the mere threat of a kill-crazy rampage… to prove a point. That’ll show ‘em you were the best person for the task of caring for children!
  This is not about racism. This is about control thru manipulation and intimidation. This is about asserting state ownership of children. This is about an abuse of power. You don’t give these wizards EXACTLY what they want; you shame them and make them answer for their words and actions. Ya know… behave like an adult in a civil society (unlike the intolerant bullies).
  The WORST possible thing any well-meaning foster parent could do is show his or her butt in an emotional, criminal tirade.

In this book the ignorant are given the highest positions and the intelligent are given the lowest of jobs, just to show them for being smarter (in a short, very short and limited summary). This is where it appears we are going to. I’m saddened by this state we our in and the fact I actually brought children in this world to have to endure also. I don’t know how to fix it except for to hide, LOL, but really I think we have come to the time to not let others know what we have when it concerns items such as food, weapons and opinions.

  I’ve given up and now am embracing my inner “racist” traits. I freely use terms such as “black Friday”, “white knuckle ride”, “in the black”, “white elephant”, I have been known to chew “Red Man” tobacco, I call police cars “black & whites”, I would be up to trying a “Black Russian”, “blackened steak” is delicious although I don’t care much for “black eyed peas”. My gun’s barrel is blued and that gets into a whole different spectrum.

It is based on a true story that took place in the UK during the 1960-70′s. Thousands of children were taken from their parents and shipped out of the country. It is a tragic story. It is a must see.   Remeber just being white OR conservative makes you racist to begin with. I can’t imagine what they were thinking allowing children to be with white people to begin with. If you’re conservative but not white, you are white by proxy and eligible for names like oreo or uncle tom and others. Political affiliations only matter if you’re white, because all of the white people have been taught since young youth (correctly) that color is not the indication one should look for in order to judge admissibility Conservatives, learn your lessons! You are the target in all situations! Even if you’re a liberal, minority, even a cop just doing his job, you must follow the mantra or pay the price. George Zimmerman goes to the gallows because there is some white in him–though he’s a democrat and a latino. And a liberal. You must tow the line daily or you will be ‘dead’ to them..

  Reading this article, I found myself wondering if the children who were placed with these kids were black. Don’t know if you know this, but the the National Association of Black Social Workers here in the good old U.S. believe that black children should NEVER be placed with white families, either as foster kids or through adoption. They have been fighting this for over 30 years. Why? Because they think white people are inherently racist. Period. Right. WE’RE the racists.
  
  So now in the U.K., these kids whose own parents apparently are incapable of caring for them, are taken away form perfectly competent foster parents because the foster parents are conservatives??? Good Lord! How soon will we find this happening in the U.S. when foster parents are discovered to be TEA PARTY members? Oh, the horror!!!!!

  It would appear that their (the children’s) “culture” (whatever the heck it is) has abandoned them as evidenced by their status as adoptable.   So few are willing to grasp the idea, because so many find it hard to believe that their party can do wrong. I was one of these, and it was very hard for me to think that my party would do wrong, I mean Rush Limbaugh who I set out to hate, made things make sense to me. I was a liberal at one time (and this is before i had any grasp of what our nation was supposed to be), and I was on a mission to catch Rush Limbaugh being racist, so that I could catch the racist remarks before they were reported by the liberals…..after a week or so of listening to him, he explained things that made sense…so this was a life altering experience…I realized i had been duped by the libs and was lied to. So from Clintons last year til the last part of GW I was a hard core Republican.
  
  I was turned off by the effects of the Patriot Act when I realized Obama wasn’t going to repeal the Patriot Act. No I didn’t vote for him, I voted McCain the Patriot Act didn’t cross my mind, until I realized it would not be repealed, and a road was being paved that could put just about anyone on the suspected terrorist list.
  
  Anyways it was hard to let go of the party, but the Patriot Act was a turn off, and the GOP convention was the last straw for me. The convention showed me that the party WAS corrupt, and did shady things. I cut ties after that. If that wasn’t enough to make people see that both sides were just as bad then they probably will remain party sheep forever….

  Having carried water for both parties, I can say from experience the most intolerant and dismissive people in this country are partisans. Yeah, the left tends to generally be more repulsive, but that doesn’t meant the right aren’t masters of placing their fingers in their ears and yelling “Shut up!!!” to avoid meaningful discourse.
  Many a Blazer (like their ideological counterparts on left-leaning sites) asserts free speech and tolerance begins and ends with like-minded partisans. And team R has openly embraced big gubment. Many a progressive is a registered R.
  We’re all in this together. When you p!ss and moan about your opposition engaging in the very behavior you openly display, how the hell do you expect thinking people to take you seriously?
  Case in point: My “conservative” in laws live off Social Security and enjoy heath care paid for by working Americans (too fat, er,disabled to work)… but they hate all the proper people. I see this throughout my family and throughout allegedly conservative concerns.
  And, yes, the left seems even uglier with it’s cognitive dissonance. Lot’s o’ hardcore progs LOVE making money off the developmentally disabled… even though many of these same people OPENLY encourage abortion. I suppose the developmentally disabled can be useful… gubment money tends to take a backseat to ideology.

The compassion conservative would foster care for nothing, Michelle Bachman as an example. In the USA the foster parent just wants an extra $250 to pad their pockets a la the federal handouts.   My in-laws did foster care…it’s more like $400 something to have a foster kid, and that was 10 years ago. And if you adopt, you still get that money coming in each month. I know someone who bought a bigger house so they could hold more foster kids….they were both on disability, but lived comfortably because they had so many foster kids and their checks.

If that story is true, then there is a psychiatrist preying on kids & young adults. How many more are there. I bet it accepts Medicaid money!
  
  I’ve heard to money stories about orphanages. Money is better spent by giving it to foster parents.

He vowed to repeal Obama care, which alone would have made a massive difference on how long the country has before financial collapse. Romney campaigned on lower taxes (you know… makes sense during a recession) while Obama constantly pushed class warfare and raising taxes.   Agreed. There were two social workers in CA that forged abuse investigations in order to go on vacations instead of investigating the crimes. They noted that the abused had Alzheimer so they wouldn’t remember their investigation. The daughter of one abused said I was with my mother waiting for you. You never showed up. They were busted and slapped on the hand. That was it. Still collected their pensions.
  Also in S. Ca foster families were pimping the foster care children out, again. The word again meant they had a history of doing this. Now in Sacramento County, the only way you could adopt a child was if you were gay. Everyone else was put on a waiting list. Ah socialism. See what happens when you attempt to remove God and replace it with government. Can’t wait for Obamacare.

  As if these DFS people don’t have anything better to do. My supervisor has had to call the authorities re: some of the kids I’ve worked with who showed up to therapy with bruises and disturbing accounts of their home life. Kids spent the night at Grandma’s and parents given a verbal warning. Another family crammed their house full of foster kids for the money, and their medical needs went improperly treated if at all.   BAVA…. While beating the living daylights out of a child is never acceptable, or leaving marks on a child from a from a probable “well deserved” woodshed visit from an over-zealous parent, I’ll bet there are some parents (possibly Conservative) who have had their children taken away by an over zealous system for just spanking there kids in front of the “wrong” company…
