‘Two and a Half Men’ Star Says Show Is ‘Filth,’ Urges People Not to Watch in YouTube Vid About His Faith

Two and a Half Men Star Angus T. Jones Says Show Filth, Christians Shouldnt Watch

Actors Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones of the television show ‘Two And A Half Men’ speak during the CBS portion of the 2012 Television Critics Association Press Tour at The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa on January 11, 2012 in Pasadena, California. (Photo: Getty Images)

The teenage actor who plays the “half” in the hit CBS comedy “Two and a Half Men” says the show is “filth” and, through a video posted by a Christian church, has urged viewers not to watch it.

Nineteen-year-old Angus T. Jones has been on the show since he was 10, but says he no longer wants to be on it.

In a YouTube video that appears to be his testimony, Jones laughs in acknowledgement that he is coming out against his own show, but says:

“Two and a Half Men– if you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching [it]…I’m on Two and a Half Men; I don’t want to be on it.  Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth.

Please– it’s, you know, people say it’s just ‘entertainment.’  The fact that it’s entertainment– do some research on the effects of television and your brain, and I promise you you’ll have a decision to make…it’s bad news.

Show producer Warner Bros. Television has no comment. CBS hasn’t responded to a request for comment left Monday.

The show stars Jon Cryer as Jones’ uptight dad and originally featured Charlie Sheen as his hedonistic philandering uncle, but Sheen was replaced by Ashton Kutcher.

The 15-minute video, posted by Forerunner Chronicles in Seale, Ala., primarily concerns Jones’ spiritual journey, though.  He discusses how he found the predominantly black church where he feels most comfortable, and how his life has changed since he started keeping the Sabbath.

I almost never watch TV… I’ll sit down with my parents and brothers sometimes and watch “Gravity Falls” but I there’s very few shows on television now that aren’t “filth”. There’s really only two or three GOOD shows on TV… “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”, “The Office” (I’ve yet to watch this last season), and then “The Middle” is fairly good. I’ll watch Glenn Beck when he’s on too, but I usually just watch him online.

Pretty incredible he would speak out against his own show. I guess he doesn’t want to become a druggie who dies homeless like so many child stars. I remember when Three’s Company was racy in its day. I’ve seen replays of Three’s Company and now it just seems dumb, but that the time it was racy. No doubt Two and a Half Men is racy for modern times. It’s funny, but trashy at times too. It’s written by a “chosen person” Chuck Lorre and is on a network owned by a “chosen person” Sumner Redstone.

You are missing “Walking Dead” which is a great show. It is the ONLY “sitcom” I watch.

After this 2012 election, the only news shows I watch now are Hannity and whatever is on Fox Business.

Fox News has become filled with far left loons. O’Reilly is a sell out who recently endorsed AARP whose CEO gave millions to Obama and AARP supported Obamacare to kick out its competitor Medicare Advantage so AARP could sell insurance to the elderly unimpeded and the insurance money is where AARP makes its profit. Van Susteran show is watered down garbage. Plus, the news is almost always bad as the country falls further under socialism/communism.

FEAR is why shows like Doomsday Preppers and all the “Gun Shows” which are live shows about people making, testing and selling guns are doing so well. Fear probably explains the Walking Dead’s popularity as people escape into that fear versus the real fear of a dying country.

Sumner Redstone (born Sumner Murray Rothstein) and his family are majority owners of CBS Corporation, Viacom, MTV Networks, Nickelodeon, BET, and the film studio Paramount Pictures.

Chuck Lorre (born Charles Michael Levine) created the sitcom the Big Band Theory and also served as an executive producer of Roseanne.

Pretty much, these people, that is, Hollywood, control our culture and youth and brainwash them 24/7 with “filth” and get them ready for a godless, degenerate Marxist society. Hellivision is their favorite weapon.

Yes television is filth. By paying for cable or satellite you are supporting that filth. Set yourself free from the burden of paying for trash to come into your house through your tv. I used to watch this stuff and it was one of the first and easiest things to give up once I turned my life back over to Christ. The burden has been lifted. Try it you’ll like it.

How is “The Walking Dead” a “sitcom” in any way? I realize you used quotation marks, perhaps to indicate you’re not being serious… but “sitcom” is “situational comedy.” The Walking Dead is horror and drama.

Personally I don’t have cable. Not for any morally outraged reason, but because anything I want to watch on TV I can find online, and a TV that matches my monitors and speakers’ quality would require hundreds of extra dollars. Why spend more each month when I have a better experience with an internet connection and a computer? I haven’t really discovered any good shows lately, though “The Walking Dead” usually isn’t bad. A bit too much on the drama and not enough on the horror, though.

For a very long time I’ve wondered why this show had to be so filthy. I finally got sick & tired of the guy running around in his tight undershorts showing his junk all the time. It went from being a cute, funny show in the beginning (if you could forget what a travesty Charlie Sheen was) to becoming a boring, idiotic show when that new guy came on board. Guess more than me saw how boring it was and they decided to SEX it up to get more viewers……….NOT! It became so disgusting I had to
      stop watching it.
It bothered me that so much dirty sexual stuff happened around that 1/2 child. This article warms my heart to know he has a higher calling than that trash on that horrid show. God Bless you Angus.

The vast majority of leftist of Marxist activists in Hollywood are godless and non religious, regardless of their background. The ACLU was started by Communists, and today promotes multiculturalism and socialism, for the purpose of destroying Christian America. If you want to speak religion, I can guarantee you this, most of the godless, degenerate people from the left that are promoting and shoving their Marxist agenda down are our throats are NOT Protestant Christian, but militant atheists, or God haters. If you even understand the latter, there’s no way you’d get anything out of the former. “The Office” has adult themes all the time–not filthy, just mature.

@STA – I loved Dr. Who until the last season-ish w/ David Tennant when atheist themes became apparent. Since then, not so much, though the few newer ones I’ve seen are still outstanding work. I watched old, original episodes on Netflix & realized they contain an atheist worldview as well so I gave up Dr. Who.

When I moved from NYC to TX, I left my TV behind w/ my roommates & now only watch films I choose through Netflix, on Youtube & a few other sites & have begun to buy films I really enjoy (One Night w/ the King, The Bible Series, Serenity). Youtube still has some great films & I may begin downloading them so I’ll have access even if the internet becomes limited. I find the more I watch films that feed my faith, the stronger it becomes & the stronger I become. This weekend I discovered a cartoon version of the Gospel, “He Lived Among Us,” that is really good (http://youtu.be/a1Kh38bwEuU).

I think we need to clear our hearts & minds of all the vague messages TV has implanted. When we watch the same program week after week, the characters become part of our lives. We care about them, admire them & model our lives on theirs I finally understand why women & girls suddenly began wearing bras under camisoles in the mid- 1990s & letting their bra straps show. It’s a small example but they were copying Buffy (a program I love?) & other TV characters. What important things have we been copying? Deadly things, that make us morally weak & sap our virtue?

You just won’t find yourself sitting, staring at vacuous actors and actresses performing in culture-wrecking sitcoms that really do nothing to enhance your life or your families lives.

I watched a show the other day from this season, and I do not know if it is because God is working in my life, or because the show is becoming so much more raunchy, or both, but I thought after seeing the episode from last week, ‘I do not really want to watch this kind of junk for a few funny moments.’ I intend to do what he recommends, and not watch it. @ olycotinxx, Yeah that’s right because all that really counts is money isn’t it. I mean faith and one’s belief in God should come way below money on the ‘what’s important list’ right? When he bows before the Lord when he dies, God isn’t going to be interested in how big this young man’s bank account is. All he is going to be concerned with is if he believed in Him and that he was obedient to God’s commands. Oxy, the same thing holds true with you. You WILL bow before the Lord. To the person who asked if Angus will keep the money he earned, yours is a stupid question. He worked for it and earned it. Just because he’s finally realized that he’s involved in a terrible show does not mean he’s wrong to keep what he did before. It was not obtained illegally. The key question for him is how he will get out of his contract. He doesn’t want to be on the show but I’m sure he’s got a tough contract to break. The real issue will be if he can continue on a positive path and fight for what’s right or if he gives in and decides to stay where he is.

Do another show? Not likely–expressing an opinion like that is likely to get him blackballed. He’s pointing out what too few Americans are willing to say–that TV is an open sewer pipe into your living room, and has infected the whole nation with its filth. TV is why we have Obama in the White House and a statist Congress that wipes our noses and our bottoms for us (with the same cloth incidentally) so we don’t have to tear ourselves away from the idiot box.

I would think more likely the young man is starting to figure out what kind of world he’s immersed in and contributing to, and thanks to the MORAL FOUNDATION of his faith, understands that it’s wrong. He should be applauded–most child stars end up as narcissistic drug addicts…or dead.

Amen Strasser, I would say it’s evidence God is working on him. The world sees it as “nutty religious zealotry” because they don’t understand how God works. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV) God changes people from the inside, He works on your heart. It’s subtle, sometimes you don’t even realize He’s doing it until someone tells a dirty joke that you once would have laughed at but now don’t find it funny. Or you find yourself uncomfortable watching a dirty movie. You become aware of the cuss words that used to fly out of your mouth unnoticed. Somebody takes the Lords name in vain and suddenly it’s like nails on a chalkboard, or worse YOU say it and suddenly it feels so foreign and you feel a sense of guilt as though you just called your own Father a dirty word.

There was a time I thought this show was hilarious, but over time I just lost my appreciation of it. Now I just find it offensive, repulsive actually. Not because the show changed, but because I changed. He changed me!

Although funny, the show when DAHmasheen was in it used to be all filth. Nothing but “Charlie” getting drunk and trying to hump anything that moved. He treated all Woman as Sex objects, was a lousy role model and……Oh wait, Uhmm, i guess that’s how DAHmasheen is in real life too. Anywho, i haven’t watched much since the walking talking human Penis left the show. It sounds like it hasn’t changed any. Looks like Angus is the second one to tell his Boss what he thinks.

I have been saying this for years, and I’m no prude by any stretch. This show isn’t alone in this of course, but it is one of the worst, if not the worst, sources of cheap, gutter trash humor on network TV. It’s not even funny, never was – just crude and morally corrupt. If you find that funny, that’s your prerogative, but it’s really despicable the depths they’ll stoop to in order to “top” their own incredibly low standards for shock value as opposed to humor.

I never watched the show, except catching an occasional minute or two (that’s about all I could take). But, for about 5 years I produced a “family-oriented” radio morning show. The local TV station would promote their daily re-runs of this show every morning, and they CONSTANTLY crossed the line of what would be appropriate for morning radio anywhere but Howard Stern. When I say constantly, I’m not exaggerating in the least. At least 3 days out of 5, their sound bites from the show would be completely inappropriate for air.

I am very gratified to know that I am not alone in my contempt for this filthy show.

My Dad always said that if you can get paid for doing what you love to do, you’ll never work a day in your life. The vast majority of successful actors fall into this category. Certainly, artists do too. Writers? Mostly. Musicians? Also, mostly. Of course, there are certain aspects to being a musician or a writer which could be considered “work.” But actors and artists, less so.

I’m not devaluing what actors and artists provide through their talents and skills, but calling it “work” seems a little disingenuous.

Work is something that makes you sweat, and you do it because you have to, not because it’s fun. It is almost always very fulfilling and, therefore, worth your time; but few actors “work” at acting. They may study and prepare for a role. They may follow direction even when they don’t want to. But, compared to the blue collar guy who comes home dirty and sweaty after putting in 10 hours a day busting his back to make a dollar, the dandy who’s treading the boards for applause and money-showers can’t possibly appreciate the meaning of the word “work.” Same for the painter who “works” at getting his art shown/sold. Yeah, it can be difficult to turn your talent into income, but “work” really doesn’t apply.

      @RDooley65

If my comment reads to you like I was slighting nurses, doctors, or white-collar careers, then your reply reads like that of someone who was looking for an excuse to be offended.

Do you identify with people who work hard for a living? Then my comment wasn’t directed at you.

Do you identify with people who sleep their days away between bong sessions, occasionally drawing pictures or jamming with your pals and banging drunk girls after gigs? I didn’t think so.

Try not to be so thin-skinned. My post OBVIOUSLY had nothing to do with you. What nurses do is work, whether they love it or not. However, by my Dad’s logic (which was nearly infallible), you are very blessed to have found a career doing something you love, as am I.

Instead of getting ****-hurt over a comment which clearly had nothing to do with you, perhaps you should appreciate the fact that many people never find such a fulfilling career. Our assembly lines, retail stores, and service industries are FILLED with them. And, by comparison, what you and I do really does barely qualify as work, even if we fill our lives with 50 and 60 hour work weeks and stress ourselves out over trying to deliver to the best of our ability.

I have been anti-Kutcher since I watched “Dude Where’s My Car” with the audio commentary on.

Seann William Scott is hilarious. He is one of those guys who just has to be on camera and I start to laugh (much like Diedrich Bader).

During the “Dude Where’s My Car” commentary, it’s Scott and Kutcher and one of the producers or director, and while Scott and the other guy are providing excellent commentary and even managing to be funny and entertaining, Kutcher is busy shamelessly self-promoting with the most juvenile and egotistical nonsense. Example: He goes on and on about some (really lame) line that he came up with on the spot, making sure to point out that HE came up with that one, not the writers, ME ME ME ME. It’s really pathetic to listen to, and if you think you like Kutcher and want to keep it that way, be sure to avoid it.

They are faithful to following the rules, yes, but they are not like Mormons. They are Christian in doctrine and dogma, unlike Mormons.

And, when you get right down to it, wouldn’t it be WONDERFUL if a few more Christians were more observant to obey God’s commands!

My own denomination is currently led by un-Biblical men and women who are at best heretics when it comes to Christian orthodoxy. I stay because my parish and my diocese are the exception — faithful to the whole of the Christian message.

“They are Christian in doctrine and dogma”

Doctrine and dogma does not make one a Christian. God’s Grace through Christ does….if one receives it.

If your spiritual life revolves around man-made religion based on legalism (Mormonisn, Catholicism, Seven Day Adventists) there is a much greater chance that you are a false convert; one who believes that legalism will save them, not the blood of Christ alone.

@Goodstuff, Catholicism is made by Christ, NOT man. If not, why has it survived 2000 years, though neither the Beast nor the Whore of Babylon (For example,”the [physical] Mark of the Beast” is Nero Caesar’s coin, without which you can neither buy nor sell; as to why it’s NOT the Whore, see http://www.catholic.com/library/Hunting_the_Whore_of_Babylon.asp )

Uneducated people on the topic of 7th Day Adventism think that Adventists closely follow the commandments in order TO BE saved. Not so… Adventists realize that we can ONLY be saved by GRACE through FAITH in Jesus, the Son of God. We honor the commandments because we love Jesus. He tells us “If you love me, keep my commandments.”

GOODONE, Jesus was referring to Himself and nobody else when He said:

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

JESUS is the rock… not Peter. Research it. Catholicism is man-made all the way.

GOODSTUFF… Why is it not legalism to respect the other 9 commandments, but it IS legalism (allegedly) to honor the Lord’s seventh-day sabbath? I’d love to hear your reply to this.
