For this week’s “top whatever” list, let’s take a look at some of the highest paid CEOs in the U.S.
Using data from the S&P 500, CNBC.com was able to identify the 21 CEOs with “the largest average compensation packages over the last four years, from 2007 to 2011.”
Figures for 2012 are incomplete (so they weren’t included).
“The source of the compensation data is CapIQ,” CNBC.com explains. “Compensation is defined as salary, cash bonus, stock awards, option awards, nonequity incentive plan, change in pension value, and all other compensation (such as contributions to 401(k)s and life insurance premium payments).”
CNBC.com also looked at each company’s year-to-date stock percentage gain.

Nov. 28, 2012 at 2:54amTiger Woods made 120 million in the last 12 months.
Leanardo Dicaprio made 77 million in the last year as well.
Between the 2 they employee a caddy, a couple limo drivers and probably a few personal servants.
But Hollywood, the brain-dead movie goers, sports watchers etc. would never talk bad about them.
And they are stupid enough to blame the ball park owners and movie theater owners for $5 popcorn and $6 beer, instead of these “stars”.
Interesting.
I will say THIS though, if you START a company, you have my “permission” to take all you can get.
If you came in late, hired “at the top”, you should be limited to stock price/profit increase incentives and have a “golden parachute” clause that only pays out IF YOU SUCCEED.
But to be fair to those hired in CEOs, why would they leave their other job wothout some kind of guarantee?
It would be nice however, if ALL employees of publicly traded companies were automatically given stock weekly/monthly to entice them to stay and do good work, even though it quickly becomes necessary to stop them from immediately selling and making a short term profit on a LONG TERM incentive.

Nov. 27, 2012 at 6:03pmThose that want what others have are just jealous peole. I say if thereare those willing to pay someone this much, than more power to the recipient. All you that want more of theirs would be the first to complain if we wanted more of what you have. I know you rally don’t have much if you covet what they get. You are so evil spirited that you’d take 95% of anyone that has more than you. But be honest with yourselves. If you one the Mega Millions you’d try to get as much of it as you could now, wouldn’t you. And you’d also not understand why you get so little of what you won. Because of course you won it fair and square. Winning is different than earning, huh. We Conservatives should understand that those Liberals that already have theirs, are more than willing to not allow those trying to get to their level have more of their own. You see Buffet’s Billions are already his. Tell Mr. Buffet that we will really get those evil Rich and asess a 30% Wealth Tax and listen to him scream like a pig about the unfairness of it all. Nov. 27, 2012 at 6:35pmPeople should be able to keep 100% of what they earn OR win! What gives the government the right to take 50% of what you earn OR win? If you don’t feed it so much it will stop growing.
The government is TOO big and out of control. The government should NEVER bail a business out and/or pick winners and losers by giving large sums of our tax money to get started and/or grow.
(Solyndra-GE-GM-Bank bailouts, airlines, Solar etc.) Why do you think we have so many monopolies????? Very few companies run the world……according to this article 147.

Liberty Mutual asked NYS for a RAISE in premiums for the past TEN YEARS and got it. A call to law makers by irate mutual liberty insurance holders resulted in ZERO action against Liberty Mutual who HAS defrauded millions of people and is object of many lawysuits. YET, they still operate in NYS with the blessing of the politicians who refuse to remove this criminal enterprise aka Liberty Mutual to do business in NYS. We may be changing, but I wouldn’t call it progressing.
People think ‘progress’ is natural and that conservatives are standing in the way.
I would remind you that civilizations can also ‘regress’.
Everyone thinks the Mayans were wiped out by the Spanish, but they were already in decline.
What happened to the builders of Stonehenge?
How are the Romans, the Egyptians, the Sumerians doing?
Though change may be inevitable, progress is not.

Nov. 27, 2012 at 6:57pmSo no one answered my question. I am completely shocked. You guys have to realize that you have become unpatriotic boobs. If romney won you would have expected the left to fall in line and play by the rules. Whats good for the goose… You need to realize that your country is moving forward. Socially especially. You lost the election because of your regressive ideas. The 50′s are over. Regressing is trying to maintain old values that you still cant let go of. Ward and june cleaver dont live next door to you anymore. The extremists in your party ruined that for you. Did you really think that people were going to vote for old worn out ideas that crippled you in the first place? Barack Obama may not be a saviour but compared to what was on the other side of the ticket it was a very simple choice to make. No one is coming for your guns. Obama isnt going to join the muslims and destroy america. You really need to wake up. “Your” america is gone. America now belongs to the people. The results speak for themselves. The people spoke. I thought you cons were the party of freedom. No? Why is it that when freedom to vote doesnt work in your favour it isnt freedom? So enjoy the next four years of obama. Regardless of how you feel. He is your president again. Like it or not. No matter what you do he will still be there in four years. Hopefully showing hilary around the place before she sits in the oval office in 2016. Huntsman would have beaten obama but you chose romney. Your fault.

So I will ask you a couple questions if you don’t mind.
How is it that “America now belongs to the people”?
What is it that Obama is doing that is so impressive to you? How is he changing this country for the better? Can you give me some examples?

Nov. 27, 2012 at 7:58pmAmerica now belongs to the people because obama was voted in because he actually listens to the majority. I as,well as the rest of america were all for the war to “smoke bin laden out of his hole.” But what happened? All of a sudden saddam was in on it and had wmds and we sent the majority of our armed forces there? This was done against the majority of the poulations voices. The people. How many young men and women are dead now? how many are maimed for life and disabled? which party was it that voted against the veterans jobs act? And to answer another which ties in is that america is better off because although both sides economic ideas were and are ridiculous, the majority voted on social issues. Womens health rights, womens employment rights, immigration, gay rights, and funny as it is, apparently marijuana legalization. Social issues are just as important as economic issues. Having someone in the presidency who is backed by religious nutcases talking about rape babies being a gift from god etc. is not good for america.
1984? Was it obama that introduced the patriot act?
Now my original question if you want to read my post again was actually to Slayer.
How can you call yourself an american, a patriot if you want to see your country fail so you can say i told you so? Letting not only friends and family suffer just so you can have the satisfaction of being proven right? That is anti- american. Would no one agree?

Nov. 27, 2012 at 9:09pmCANADA:I can only speak for myself and I do not fit in the left/right box you have happily fell into under the left side. I started waking up during the Bush administration and I was no fan of him either. I see right thru the games politicians are playing right under the sheeples noses. 60% of people are against Obamacare yet they went ahead and shoved it up our arses. How is that for listening to the people? Most Americans are always against the wars our government has participated in (including your messiah). The wars are wrong and for the elites to make money. I would also tell you that MOST Americans are against gay marriage. Hell, here in Ca. we voted against it and we are one of the most liberal states,as you know, but still they shove it up our keisters (including Oblamma)..(now how is that for listening to the people?)…

Nov. 27, 2012 at 10:08pmOnce again you describe basic human rights as issues. There should be no discussion on human rights. The fact that you believe that women should not have free reign over their bodies and make their own choices is baffling. It is not about birth control and and abortion solely. When you take a womens right to choose away from her you might as well put her in the same class as saudi women that cant make their own choices.
The reason women werent represented on this list is the reason why obama being president is good. He will help change that and lily ledbetter was a great start. Nothing is instant and the fact that it took black people 100 years to finally get integrated into white universities was a disgrace. But it shows that battles for human rights can be won but it will always be a battle. Instant gratification will never work.
How does that tie in to obamacare? Glad you asked. Why is that america is the only country in the world where sick people are a business. Why does america not want all of its citizens to have healthcare available to them when they get sick? Think of what the war money spent in iraq could have done to help people going bankrupt because they got cancer. I am truly sorry but people that dont believe you have a right to healthcare or to marry who you love or dont have a right to choose what is best for their bodies is anti american values. Period.

Nov. 27, 2012 at 10:34pmCanadasucks – Spoken like a true leftist psychopath. And why should some deadbeat welfare bum who does dope all day and sleeps around get the same health care as me? Why I get health care is b/c I went to work to pay for it myself.
If I have a higher standard of living than most people in this country, it’s b/c I didn’t sit around and wait for the government to take care of me. I went and figured out what jobs paid well, had the most job opportunities, and the best job security.
Funny how you claim that instant gratification will never work yet you lefties are all about instant gratification.

Nov. 28, 2012 at 3:46amCANADA: You said: “There should be no discussion on human rights. The fact that you believe that women should not have free reign over their bodies and make their own choices is baffling”.
I believe we do have certain human rights that come from God–not the government. God is the one who gives us free will. If you want you can kill your baby but you will suffer the consequences of that choice just like if you choose to kill anyone. You are born with one beating heart. When a woman is pregnant she has two beating hearts, and two souls. What about the rights of the baby to be born? to say the mother should have a “right” to stop that beating heart is more than “baffling”..it is murderous and evil.
You also said: “Why is america the only country in the world where sick people are a business. Why does america not want all of its citizens to have healthcare available to them when they get sick? Think of what the war money spent in iraq could have done to help people going bankrupt because they got cancer. I am truly sorry but people that dont believe you have a right to healthcare or to marry who you love or dont have a right to choose what is best for their bodies is anti american values”
I kind of agree with you on the healthcare part. If its a choice between a war and giving people healthcare then hc for sure. But it is not a basic right. I disagree that a killing a baby is whats best for a womans body ever. Murder is not a value. Marriage is between a man &

Nov. 28, 2012 at 5:26pmI am sorry but healthcare should be available to everyone. Period. What does it say anout a country that think because someone is poor or lazy in their eyes has no right to healthcare. Why does america look at something like people with terminal illnesses as a way to make profit? Why is it fair that someone born with asthma should be denied care? Logic hopefully will prevail. O pay an assload of taxes but at least i know if my wife or mother get breast cancer, they arent going to lose their house, savings etc. america is the only civilized country that does not believe in healthcare for everyone regardless of health issues they have had on the past. If anything people with pre existing conditions should get better healthcare. My grandfather died 2 months before i was born. My grandma had a heart condition and is now 99 years old. Since he passes she has had 3 heart attacks, a stroke, both hips replaced, and a broken leg. What would that cost her in rhe states with no coverage? Anyone? She is still able to live on her own in the country which would have never happened if she libed south of here.
And for your info eyedub. The youth coming up today in canada are anything but conservative. Take a look around you. Church membership is down. Conservative group memberships are lower than they were even 5 years ago. But what do i know. I only work in cultural research at a university.
