Oh, Man: ‘Two and a Half Men’ Star Now Apologizes for Calling His Own Show ‘Filth’
NEW YORK (TheBlaze/AP) — Teenage actor Angus T. Jones of the comedy “Two and a Half Men” apologized Tuesday for a series of interviews denouncing his own show, an episode that has rivaled former colleague Charlie Sheen’s meltdown as an off-screen oddity.
Speaking to religious media outlets, the 19-year-old Jones has called the CBS comedy “filth” and “very inappropriate” and talked about how his religious awakening has affected his attitude toward life and work.
“Two and a Half Men,” television’s third most popular comedy, remains heavy on sexual innuendo even with Ashton Kutcher replacing bad-boy Sheen following his firing for drug use and a subsequent public meltdown. Jones, who started on the show when he was 10, plays Jake Harper, son of the uptight character portrayed by Emmy winner Jon Cryer.

In a statement issued late Tuesday, Jones said he had the highest regard for all of the people he has worked with on the comedy, including creator Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. studio chief Peter Roth.
“I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed,” said Jones, who reportedly makes $350,000 an episode. “I never intended that.”
The statement can be found in its entirety, below:
I have been the subject of much discussion, speculation and commentary over the past 24 hours. While I cannot address everything that has been said or right every misstatement or misunderstanding, there is one thing I want to make clear.
Without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people onΒ Two and Half MenΒ with whom I have worked over the past ten years and who have become an extension of my family.
Chuck Lorre, Peter Roth and many others at Warner Bros. and CBS are responsible for what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date.Β I thank them for the opportunity they have given and continue to give me and the help and guidance I have and expect to continue to receive from them.
I also want all of the crew and cast on our show to know how much I personally care for them and appreciate their support, guidance and love over the years.Β I grew up around them and know that the time they spent with me was in many instances more than with their own families.Β I learned life lessons from so many of them and will never forget how much positive impact they have had on my life.
I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.Β I never intended that.
Jones wasn’t at the studio lot for a rehearsal on Tuesday. He’s not scheduled to appear on the two episodes that are being filmed before the end of the year, said a person close to the show who spoke on condition of anonymity because Warner Bros. and CBS haven’t commented publicly on Jones. His character has recently joined the Army and his airtime has been cut down.

Jones, the teenage actor who plays the half in the hit CBS comedy “Two and a Half Men” says it’s “filth” and through a video posted by a Christian church has urged viewers not to watch it.Β Credit: AP
His real-life adventure came to light on Monday, when a video posted by the Forerunner Chronicles in Seale, Ala., featured him talking about not wanting to be on “Two and a Half Men” anymore.
“Please stop watching it,” Jones said. “Please stop filling your head with filth.”
In a radio broadcast, “The Voice of Prophecy,” recorded for the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Jones’ birthday in October, Jones described his religious path. He has been attending a Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Los Angeles area.
Jones said he felt drawn to God after a tough time in his life when his parents were going through a divorce and he experimented with drugs.
“I never drank,” he said. “That was one thing God protected me from, and I’m still a virgin. God protected me from those things.”
Jones said that “it’s very weird that I’m on a television show, especially now that I am trying to walk with God. My television show has nothing to do with God and doesn’t want anything to do with God.” Still, he said he had no plans to get out of his contract.
In another interview posted on Tuesday with Christianity Today, Jones described himself as a “paid hypocrite.”

“Even though it’s my job to be an actor, I have given my life to God,” he said. “I am very comfortable and firm in that, but I still have to be on this show. It’s the No. 1 comedy, but it’s very inappropriate and the themes are very inappropriate. I have to be this person I am not.”
“Two and a Half Men,” which has seen its ratings tumble this fall with a move to Thursdays, is now behind “The Big Bang Theory” and “Modern Family” in the comedy ratings.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 11:00amNo, the Blaze is to blame for third rate yellow journalism…yet again…appealing to an audience of simpletons who have the reading comprehension of 10 year olds.
The headline clearly states: “Two-and-a-half men star now apologizes for calling for calling his own show filth.”
No! He did not! Read his full statement given in this very article. He apologizes for any implications his statement may have had on the moral characters of the cast and crew. That is all. His statement that the show is filth STILL stands!
Now, the problem he has is what is he going to do with his career. If his statement does not cause his character to be either written out or replaced then he will have to do some serious soul-searching to decide if he will continue participating in this worldly filth. I do not envy him this decision. I would walk away from it, but I am also a mature Christian who has gone far on his walk with God. This young actor still has the world on his back; though if he is sincerely born-again he will make the right choice in the end.

And to Trolltrainer, I say that you seem to be as confused and as “obama’ed up” as does Agnes T.Jones.
Mr. Jones is no longer necessary on the “2 1/2 Men” program; as his character now depicts a military man. And, most people fast forward TiVo through the “Jake scenes”, anyway.
And back to you, Trolltrainer – IF you don’t like it here at the Blaze (“appealing to an audience of simpletons who have the reading comprehension of 10 year olds”), you can either obstain from commenting or just cancel your subscription; as you appear to believe that you’re so much better than the average subscriber.
Perhaps you should start the International Agnes T.Jones fan club; to which I know of no intelligent person who would seek membership.

1. Why am I confused? I read AND comprehended the article. Please show me where it says this actor apologized for saying his show is filth…As the headline suggests.
2. What does Obama have to do with any of this? I understand you are trying to pigeon-hole me as a liberal or something so I can be your “enemy.” But the truth is you only make yourself look foolish here as my posts consistently show my political ideals, and I am not an Obama supporter.
3. I have no idea what the characters do on this show as I do not watch it. I have only seen commercials and small clips, but I have seen enough to know that, like most sitcoms these days, the show is trash and is not worth my time. In any case, my post does not even mention the subject matter of the show except to state that it is trash so I have no idea why you even mention the Jake scenes other than in response to my stating that the writers may write him out anyway.
4. You are correct in that I do not have to frequent this website. In fact, it has been a while since I posted anything here, I am fed up with not only the crappy reporting, the irrelevant stories (such as a dude punching a spider with brass knuckles) and the inciting nature of this site, but also the idiotic trolls and sincere but stupid hard right fanatics such as yourself who feel they are at war with everything.

I did post a few responses today and read a few good comments. But by and large this site, much like modern sitcoms, is a huge waste of time. I simply had the time to waste today.
5. Before today I had no idea who Agnes T.Jones even was, so no…I am not in his fan club. But if he is a brother in Christ I sure offer him my love, concern, prayers, and best wishes.
Thank you for your kindly response.
@ Bikerr:
You should know me Bikerr, we have exchanged kind words in the past. I am sorry you took my comment personally, I am sure you comprehended this article unlike most of the comments here. You have been around long enough, and are smart enough to know how these headlines are always misleading and how they always suck in comments from people who have obviously not read the article.
Oh, BTW, back to Cliff Clavin, it is “abstain” not obstain. But you knew that, your vocabulary is well beyond a 10 year olds.
God bless both of you. :-)

When you get angry at them and waste your energy on them, you assist in yanking the commentary away from the topic. Classic Alinsky tactic that wins again and again and again.

The story comes from AP, and it is well crafted spin or propaganda. This is the real story. a person finds faith, admits the truth and the media falsely claims he “was wrong”.
He didn’t apologize for his “filth” remark, read the statement, he apologized for the impact his remark may have had on hi colleages. He NEVER took back his “filth” remarks..
This is a great example of media bias, spin and misdirection and it is aimed at faith, honesty and character..
Unfortunately, TheBlaze has fallen for the spin… by just parroting the AP
the headline should read,,
AP perverts the context of Two and Half Stars statement to discredit his faith

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 9:31amIt amazes me that The Blaze would parrot the MSM by saying that this kid apologized — and even more amazing that so many people here see his statement as recanting his “religious awakening.”
Just shows to go you how few people we have today who can discern what they are reading. Don’t fall for the headline, people!!
And, shame on The Blaze for leading people into that trap. If you want to be seen as the “truthful” alternative to MSM, then quit with the misleading headlines! You SHOULD be better than that.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 10:34amAbsolutely, the real, and much bigger story here is that AP (MSM) is discrediting his “religious awakening” by misrepresenting his statement.
The facts are perverted to fit the Liberal media narrative and agenda to discredit faith and promote the demoralization of society. WHY,, to weaken it, the vulnerability of an open society is the cultural ties that hold it together. The Progressives, Statists, modern liberals, socialists etc. must break down the culture, the shared values, ethics and experiences to weaken it and gain more control of it by replacing it with their own.
Divide us, to control us..
The media uses Marxist critical theory to shape public opinion and TheBlaze fell for it as well as many commenters here.
This is the technique of ideological subversion aka brainwashing, by perverting context critical thought is undermined as logic and reason must have context to attain truth.
Critical thinking is something that takes work and vigilance as it is so easy for the masses to be manipulated by those that control information and its context.
This incident is minor but is a great example of how society is being manipulated and demoralized.

1) Contractual agreement to not bad mouth the show’s production

3) Without him the show, the concept of the show would sink.

Funny how telling the truth nowadays can get people in such trouble. Just like Rush, when he called Sandra Fluke exactly what she is: a dem operative, and more importantly a slut. It’s hypocrisy. Like the other Rush…from Canada…who wrote a song called “Witch Hunt”, only to engage in a real witch hunt, when they got a court ordered “cease and desist” against Rush Limbaugh, so he couldn’t use their music anymore. The world has become quite a sh***y place…
